hi ah_kat, in tcm terms, the menses don't come cos of some imbalance or blockage in the body. what the physician will do is to help you adjust your body back to the ideal balance of yin and yang energies, and achieve a smooth flow of qi all over. once you are balanced and have a smooth flow of qi, your body should be capable of doing everything it is supposed to do naturally, like menstruating, conceiving and carrying a foetus to term.
from what i've read about tcm, most of us with problems don't just have one area of imbalance; there are usually several overlapping deficiencies/blockages etc that need to be worked on, step by step, until the body reaches its optimum condition. most tcm practitioners will recommend at least three months of herbal supplements and/or acupuncture etc, plus cooperation on the patient's part to keep to a strict diet, to see results.
tcm takes time, but offers long-term results. try to communicate more with your tcm practitioner: ask more questions like whether your body has responded to her prescription, and if not, why; ask about the food you should take/avoid in order to complement the herbal medicine; ask for an estimate of how long she thinks it will take to see results if you decide to continue with tcm; whether you should be exercising etc; and if you feel any sort of difference after taking the medicine (thirstier, more urination, worse/better sleep etc), do let her know also. the more info she has, the better diagnosis she can make to help her zoom in on your problem.
please don't despair; don't give up. after reading so many case studies about tcm on different websites and learning about its approach in treating fertility problems, i'm quite confident that many things can be tiao2 back to normal, even the seemingly serious and 'hopeless' cases. give it a little more time? please stay positive ok. stress is as bad as a bad diet for ttc-ing folks like us.
take your mind off this for a while and plan something light and fun for yourself ok.
