IUI/SO-IUI: Anyone?

Hi Dream

Since your current gynea highlighted the risk of multiple birth, then did he suggest what can you do if you end have having more than twins?

I have just done my HSG last weekend. Gynea wants me to consider carefully before embarking on the SO-IUI journey.

Mine is a male and female factor. How about you?

Hi Tulips,

If i do IVF, i might just put in 2 embryos if I have 2 gd ones..dr also suggested just put 2. At least the most i will get is twins.. I am not prepared to have triplets..i always think it will be too much for me to handle. But of course, my thoughts may change..

I did chk whether to do a SO-IUI now but i am abit worried cos in SO-IUI, if there is too many eggs i may have to abort the process or convert to IVF straight...some uncertainities. Furthermore, i also need to go thru abt 5 days of clomid n 5 days of injections etc..similar to IVF but of course IVF much more injections n blood tests, ER, ET etc..dun know whether i'm correct but IVF seems more controlled..at least i know i wun get triplets cos can choose to put less embryos.
I thought of doing normal IUI again but in the end decided tis 2 mths just relax a bit n try naturally first. Mine is a male factor, hubby's sperm quality not gd.

Dear ladies,

I posted in early January regarding my hubby going for his varicoceles surgery. Well, he did it in early January. We were not very hopeful about the effects of his surgery but still decided to go ahead rather than trying SOIUI.

Went through a tough time in March, a great depression period because my good friend got pregnant with second child and I found out she conceived in the month that I tried IUI for the fourth time.

Work is equally stressful and both hubby and I decided that if we are meant not to be blessed with kids, then it shall be.. a rather painful decision made.. but we need to preserve our sanity..esp. mine as I was sinking into greater depression.

When my period was due in April, I was already experiencing the PMS that I really get. The frustrating part is that AF didn't come on time. I didn't think much of it as whenver I got stressed, my period will end up coming late.

Guess my surprise and disbelief when I decided to use the only pregnacy test kit at home. 2 lines appeared! I blinked and blinked! Thought I was hallucinating.

Well, after a check with my gynae, Yes, I am 5.5 weeks pregnant.

It seems that hubby's surgery has improved his sperm count and quality.
Just wish to share this with you... We tried for about 3.5 years..

For those who are still trying, please don't give up.. the journey is painful and at times, lonely.. I've been through it and can fully understand the pain and anguish.

All the best to all and again, may all of us be blessed with what we want in this journy!

Hi ladies, I have a brand new and sealed full pack of Cyclogest Progesterone Pessary (worth $50) to be given away. Let me know if this is the drug that your doctor prescribed after your SO-IUI or IUI to support your pregnancy. Bought extras and would like to pass the good luck to someone else (I'm pregnant with a baby girl and will delivery next month)

seems like we are all getting different medication. i was on clomid for few cycles and experienced slight blurred vision and weight gain so i'm worried puregon will cause same effect.

helpme, hope to hear good news from you...do update us!

thistle, where did you do your so-iui? what's the cost? mine will be at KKH and was told it will cost 1.2 to 1.5k.

wen, progynova and dydrogestrone is given after the so-iui. think the last time, i had to use a pressie as well - crinone?

i am doing my so-iui with thomson. was told it will cost $3k. gonal-f for 6 days cost near to $1K. I think i will need about 10 days (or less) of gonal-f.

wen - i recalled when i was on clomid, i had some rashes... maybe allergy to the drug. no weight gain though. guess it's diff for diff ppl.
