B{TINGKAT dinner..which caterer is good?}

Hi Mummies,

thanx 4 all ur enquiries....

i m so sorry 2 inform u all tt currently my mum is in overseas, therefore, the catering is nt visible at the moment...

I have tried empire food too, their daily operation is terrible.

eg: you have canceled your food for certain days but they still send the tingkat to your home, it's not one time that i have experienced this, is many times.

When you call them to verify again, they will tell you :"oh my record book got record your cancellation but the kitchen was not updated."
One time i think is ok, 2nd time fine, 3rd time ok bear with it, 4th time 5th time forever the kitchen was not updated then what's the record book for.

There was once i shifted house and changed my off day (4 days of tingkat a week), food was not sent to my new home, When i call to verify, They answered me :"oh the driver could not find your new home so did not send your tingkat." *roll eyes* WIN. And they got my off day all mix up even after i have called more then 3 times to verify again and again about my off day. ( off day they sent tingkat, non off day they did not send my tingkat ).

Give up on this caterer. As what their site state :with a courteous & professional service to ensure a memorable occasion. Our aim is to exceed your expectations! They really give me a ' memorable occasion'

Hi Hi,

I have been through a lot of tingkat co.. recently found one which I am pretty satisfied. Thot of recommending to all. This tingkat co is also a restaurant in Sembawang.. they deliver to all area except CBD.

http://www.hilltop.com.sg/

Food so far tasted nice, no msg and not too salty. Love their fried fish and chicken curry is tasty and spicy!

Hi maisymouse,

Thks for your recommendation. Will give hilltop a try when my contract with Kim's kitchen ends.

How is their soup? I always opt for 4 dishes instead of 3 dish one soup as most of the caterers' soup are very bland. If hilltop's soup are good, I will like to try too.

Ladies,

Tried Neo Garden's trial, I wouldnt recommend. Today is my last day with them and their dishes are lady fingers (for veg), chix wings, sea cucumber, soup. I have requested them to give a copy of their menu, till now 2 weeks liao still no sign. Haiz !!

Saw most of your review, I will try out Kim's Kitchen, will give them a call tomorrow

Prior to NG, I had Lexin... Initially, I find it ok but had them for 2mths. The food is not getting any better and the soup is not yummy. Most of the food are not suitable for my 3yrs old todd.

Just to share...

i just finished 2 months with neo gardens and i wouldn't recommend them as well. the food is quite tasteless, though good for my toddler. i dont mind tasteless more bland food but some days something spicy or stronger flavor would be nice, like curry or even cze char kind of stir fry with some sauce.

on a good day, it's not bad (meaning can eat without any complaints), but most days the food is below average and some days simply not edible. if you consider beansprouts with a few slices of fish cake a dish, then ok. i find that unacceptable. day in day out, same old cheap ingredients. on the plus side, the soups are pretty decent.

con
most days the food is below average
cheap ingredients
boring food, not very tasty.

pro
delivery abt same time everyday but early (3pm)
soup pretty good
cheap overall but you get what you paid for, ie cheap food.

of course the above is IMO, so some people may love their food if it's suitable for their taste. I have used neo gardens for party catering and that gets a thumb up from me.

--------

looking to try someone else. hope can have more mommies post reviews here whenever you try or use one company. thanks!!

sunshinekids,

Hi, their soup not too bad as in it is cooked like homestyle (neo garden's soup is a little like factory style soup... same stock for different kinds of soup.. u don't see pork ribs/chicken pieces but a few pork slices). I don't feel so thirsty like Kim's Kitchen soup but occasionally a bit oily.

One thing I like about them is they are flexi.. no hefty cancellation penalty. So can just give 1 day advance notice if want to dine out.

Hello there,

I'm a mother of 2.

What's the latest feedback on Mom's Cooking? How about any other recommendations? I'm a first timer of tingkat delivery. Appreciate if you can give me tips on that.

Thanks!

Cheers,
Bernadette

Hi maisymouse,

The website you provided is not link to the hilltop website. Any contact number? or correct website to refer? Thanks!

Hi Hazel,

Mom's Cooking is good, portions are ok too. Service is good too.

The problem is it is terribly expensive. $265 for just one month and for ONE person!!!

Don't order from Le Xin Catering! The food sucks and so does their service.

I've heard great reviews about Kim's Kitchen though.

Hi maisymouse,

No msg added in the food? If yes, will they add more salt to increase the taste?

How about less salt and less oil? Wanted to order this week.... thanks!

hi pinkie bear,

I called the lady, Mdm Lee, today to ask about their website, she told me that the kitchen has moved to Bukit Batok cos the restuarant at Sembawang has been taken over by someone else hence they no longer own the web add but they will be getting a new one soon and they are concentrating on catering business only.

So far the dishes tasted ok...I dont't detect MSG ...today had sweet sour fish(gu lou yoke style) quite nice....a few days ago, their fishball soup was rather salty for me ... the rest not as bad but I do find the their soup a little sweet compared to other tingkats.

Give her a call to see if can ask for less salt and oil.

As always for any tingkat co, trial 1st!

After neo garden, i signed up for 2 weeks with happy view. finished one week so far and the food have been good. at least got taste! :p

2 days of the first week, they had fish and i was surprised to unlocked 2 fishes into a plate. didn't know can stuff 2 fishes into one small tingkat compartment. the fish is ok only, but got to give it to them for their effort. steamed fish for delivery just dont work out so well. the fish also quite a lot of bones so not suitable for my dd.

will decide after this week whether to continue or try someone else.

Hi Maisymouse:

Thanks for your info! I have took up 10 days trial. The 1st week is pretty good, every meal has fish, meat and vege/ tofu.

However, the following weeks found the no. 4 dish is either fish ball or fish cake...we kind of get bored with all these fish cake/ fish ball & etc coz previous caterer always gave us this till we terminate it....

Hi mummies,

Thanks for the feedback about hilltop. Will be starting with them next week. I have asked for 4 dishes too instead of soup. If like what pinkie bear had, always fish ball, fish cake, will change to soup and see how.

hi mums,
i need tingkat delivery for lunch (1 pax) and dinner (2 pax). live in west coast road. contacted a few and they all said no delivery to west coast for lunch. any of u have any recommendations that can deliver to west coast road for lunch?

hi, am going to get tingkat dinner next year too! May I check is anyone ordering from CCK area? which caterer? Any good recommendation? TIA

Hi,

Just want to check if anyone knows good Tingkat for 1 person for lunch staying in bukit batok without MSG and less salt.

Thanx!

Hi icyclaw,

I tried Mom's Cooking for lunch. Not bad. They don't use MSG and supposedly only canola oil.

Problem is it is really expensive - $265 for just one person!

Wow!!!

For Mom's cooking:
"Our price quote for 10days trial is 50% of our quoted rate for 20meals is $127.50."

Meaning, for 1 meal for 1 person it cost $12.75?!!!

Highheels, i didnt realise ur expensive is really really that expensive...

Yeah, Mom's Cooking is super ex. I stopped after a few months; can't keep having such expensive lunches!

I get tingkat dinner from Kim's Kitchen now.

You can try Le Xin Catering for lunch. Cheaper than Mom's Cooking. But frankly, the food is quite awful and customer service is bad.

I have try this cater that serve homecooked food. Their soup is fantastic, it taste like those prepared by 0ld cantonese people. If anyone
interested, pls PM me.

Hi Highheels kim's kitchen dun cater for lunch... sad...

Sunshinekids, how do you know that they get from same common kitchen as House of catering?

Anyway, im on trial for empire food now for 3 days... so far seems ok, but supposed to be without MSG.... but like very thirsty after eating le.... does anyone know how to confirm? cos only reason why i order rather then packet is i need to feed my daughter from time to time when she refuse to eat her own food...

Hi icyclaw,

The same delivery man came when I order from both Empire and House of catering. I ask him and he said different boss but same kitchen.

Even though state no MSG, when I ask them to confirm, some are quite honest to say that there is still some added by the chefs.

Thanx sunshine... i dun really care abt central kitchen as long as no msg... but i tink really have... everytime drink the soup very thirsty...

so bad.. to advertise a lie blatantly.. esp when i called, the guy aso say... "ya confirm, no MSG"..

contact by jie dun deliver to west....
