IVF/ICSI Support Group

Congrats to the mummies-to-be. Grabbing loads of your babydusts.

I am doing fresh cycle this time round. Am on letrozole for now. Anyone had been on letrozole? And we need to bd daily for 5 days?
Hi. I have been on letrozole by my private gynae before. Yea. Was told to BD 5 days. From around CD12 or something. Cant remember.

I'm with Nuh under prof pc Wong. I'm a Pte patient. All scans are done by himself unless he's on leave. I heard kkh pte patients scans are by sonographers, But kkh also has a very high success rate. Not sure abt SGH. If your financial situation allows, I believe being under 1 doctor will be better.
Actually after you're in IVF program, all the charges will be the same for pte or subsidised patients.. The use of Govt grant and Medisave also same. You only get subsidies for the blood test before the start of IVF program

So if the difference is only the blood test before IVF, the the cost will be all the same when we start then rather as private patient. You still remember the total cost for blood test? How do we make the payment after we start IVF and if there are any consultation charges up till ET?

Anyone else who walk in KKIVF as subsidy patient? Can share the differences between private and subsidy?

I'm under Nuh..
That time I just call Nuh to make appt see prof. 1st consultation then he ordered all the blood test to be done.. Consultation plus blood test few hundreds.. Maybe $2-400, can't rem exact.
Once start IVF, no cash need. All consultation, meds, procedure cost will be consolidated and claim from govt grant and Medisave if you're eligible for it. If the total cost exceeds the grant+medisave, then u need to TOP up cash.
Kkh has a pre IVF Counselling fee which need to pay cash? Maybe ladies from kkh can share the experience

Probably still early, I remember usually 7 weeks scan can definitely see heartbeat. So your EDD is also in Nov?

Yup, my EDD is in early Nov.

Hi Ladies, anyone doing IVF in gov hospital as subsidy patient. Understand that if were to consult as subsidy patient, the doc wont be fixed on every visit.
I don't mind going in as a private patient though if it's better to have a fixed doc to follow up with.

Will be going polyclinic this Sat to get a referral letter but still considering whether to do my next IVF in SGH or KKH.

Really appreciate if I can received some tip from here on doing IVF in SGH and KKH, also recommended Doc

For subsidised patients, it's a group management system where you'll be seen by a team of drs (i.e. not fixed at every visit). These team of drs are tagged to one senior dr who will be the one doing the IVF procedures for you when you start on treatment. Private patients will be seeing the same dr and he/she will be the one doing the IVF procedures for you.

When doing IVF in govt hospitals (NUH, SGH, KKH), the only difference in cost is before and after the actual IVF treatment when you are being seen at the outpatient clinic. Subsidised patients will be charged cheaper for consultations and investigations. During the IVF program itself the cost is the same for all patients (except for non-residents of course).

At KKH, during the IVF treatment the scans are done by the resident sonographers and the dr reviews are done by the IVF clinic dr on duty. You'll only see your tagged IVF specialist at the procedures (ER, ET).

Erm, don't really understand why still need to bd if you're doing fresh cycle?

Not sure either.

Hi, I am also cycling soon. Will also be on letrozole. May I know yr protocol??

I m on short cycle. This will be my last attempt after that no more Ivf for me, regardless of the results.

Hi @hope4miracle, I was with KK under Dr Tan as private patient...KKIVF centre called me yesterday and said they will arrange the blood tests for me and my hb and I ask on the counselling session fee, they said is $400 and blood tests is $240

I did ask Dr Tan why KK charge on counselling session and SGH and NTU don't? He said have to see overall IVF costs and is cheaper than SGH and NUH

Hi all!

I'm currently on my 2WW, 2dp4dt, Artificial Thaw Cycle.
3 embryos thawed but only 1 made it till ET. On progynova & utrogestan.

My 1st Fresh Cycle last October resulted in an Ectopic Pregnancy, :(

Do you all have any tips on how to increase the chances of implantation for frozen cycle? Really hoping this one will stick.

I'm doing my IVF at KKH.

Hi ladies, I just went kkh this morning for my beta test. It's very low 95.5.... Hpt still shows strong lines. Shortly after when the nurse called, I'm having some spotting already. This is my 4th ivf. I'm starting to feel that I'm losing my baby .. I called the nurses and asked for extra support but was told to continue as my hcg was low. I got a bit frustrated and told her it is not as low that you can ignore and not consider adding support isn't it?

She then ask me to make my way down to 24hr to ask for pio shot. Sighs.. Bad feelings in me now. Stomach is also cramping, feeling lost.

Ladies who have BFP, are you all experiencing and symptoms? On off I've some dull tummy cramps
Dull tummy cramps are normal as it may be linked to your egg retrieval. I woke up at 5am every night at 6dp2dt. Also felt hot at times even though my husband thinks the temperature is fine.

I have abit of brown discharge on and off. Starting to feel nauseous and have no appetite to eat. Belching a lot too. I am extremely picky about food now... can only stomach specific food and the problem is, the craving keeps changing. I'm at 5 weeks 1 day today (count from LMP).

It depends on the embryo quality if it implants or not. At this stage science cannot help. Try not to analyse though I know is difficult. Just enjoy the 2ww doing things U like. Whatever outcome we cannot control.

Any cramps? I also feel bloated at times, cannot eat much at one go, can only eat bit by bit so get hungry very fast.

Which day past transfer did U do BT? Yes even hcg is low but there are still chances so go for support jabs. Take care.

Thanks. Today is 14dp2dt. Sighs. I'm lying down and trying not to move. Waiting for husband to come back and going to 24hr clinic soon. I'm trying to keep my spirits up but it's so hard!!!

Hi mrsoxnox... I feel you. My 1st fresh cycle last Oct in kkh resulted in an ectopic pregnancy too.
Heard from the ladies here that u can drink chicken essence and take brazil nuts which may be helpful for implantation. But most importantly is to relax yourself stay positive and enjoy your 2 ww. All the best ya!

Oh I see, which day are you at now? But cramps are fairly common. Could be implantation cramps which I guess you've heard this 1000 times but I really felt mine.
She already had her BT and tested positive so don't think it's implantation.

Do take care.. So you would need to bed rest? Do you need to repeat the blood test? When are you seeing the gynae?

I don't have much signs or symptoms.. Only nauseous on and off, super bloating (related to OHSS) and sore boobs. Where is the cramp? Whole lower abdominal?

Oh! Sorry misread ..

I did experience brief mild cramps on off in early preggy but should not escalate to sharp pains. While embryo has implanted, uterus is swelling & expanding as your blood volume also increase due to hormones. Also placenta is further growing into the womb. Digestion will slow down due to progesterone causing bloated feeling, gas, poor appetite and even constipation. Eat smaller portions but more frequently will help ease the load on your gut.
Btw congrats! Do enjoy the preggy journey. Jia you!

Thank you, Bunny33. Trying to be positive this time round but it's kind of difficult.

Thank you Mrs. Chan, do you know where I can find brazil nuts? Tried looking at regular NTUC but couldn't find any. Are you currently in your 2ww too?

Yup lower abdomen. I read online says the cramps can be due to uterus growing to make way for the growing embryo. I Guess as Long as no spotting it's ok.

Anyway, I find Nuh more kiasu, need to repeat BT again this sat.. I'm not complaining though.. Hee hee..

Take blood test again is good eh.. At least can know things are progressing well. I have to wait till next Friday's scan

My dating scan next fri too! When was your ET?

You taken your jab? Is it better now?
I just had the jab at kkh. When I went the nurse asked me to pee in bottle but I just peed in toilet. She said a little is also fine. While waiting for doc she came back and said I'm not pregnant. The other nurse said beta is more accurate ignore the urine test.

I saw the doc and he said it cannot dropped that fast so he gave me a pio. I feel my life shortened 10 years in that short 1 hour.... I just hope this sticks.

I can imagine your heart must have dropped.. So now you would need to bed rest? Need to go review blood test again? When you seeing gynae?
