Need yr advise..My 1st try in baking bread..taste ok while it's still hot but why it became hard in the evening? Is it I add too much flour?

I was told that Spar is better than Kitchen aid, Kenwood, etc. Especially so when mixing dough. However, remember it costs a lot more compared to the other brand, few years back. With the increase in price for others, not sure if the price is much compartable now. Do you know how much Spar mixer cost now ?

1 cup = ???? is depend on what is it.
plain flour, self rasing flour, icing sugar, castor sugar, oil, butter, milk, water, almound ground etc will give u a difference weight.
let me go n find an informative chart and post it here so tat everyone can benefit

for cupcake, should not crack too much, like 1-0 cupcake is just nice.
however, some cupcake recipe require crack abit, some shdn't be. gotta see wat recipe u are using.
for muffin, yes have to be errupted then nicer.

specially my son, he loves the lapis surabaya with the raisin soaked into rum.

vanilla oil !! i never come across leh.... i called my shifu, she oso dun really know.
perhaps u can subtitute it with essence or extract?
i guess, vanilla oil is transparant? no brown brown color like extract or paste... just guessing.
may i know what recipe require vanilla oil? perhaps from the recipe, we can get better idea.

u took pic not? if convinience for u to post here (or u can e-mail me, but only nite time or early morning i access yahoo), perhaps i can advise wat's wrong. is it your ist attempt? no feet? or crinkle?
usually, when i bake, within 3 mnts can see the feet started to come out.
by 6mnts if u don't see feet, that's it! really botak.
it's abt technique, we can use the same recipe, follow same method, but will get diff result.
AY, got the feet only at her 3rd attempt. but no crinkle at all.
me, got the feet at 1st attempt, but crinkle and looks like 80 yrs old granny skin.

the "botak" and the "feet" version really tasted different.
'tho recipe matter, Technique play an important part.
i'm still practicing.... now achived only 80% success.

hm... regarding your cookies issue, there is two Possibility come across my mind:
1. seems under bake?
2. you try it the moment it come out from oven? usually for cookies, wait till cool down then "makan".

ah yes, i dun sell macs lah.... no confidence.
i bake and give away. i ate one or two pcs only, to taste the texture etc.
if u near tampines, sms me, if have, u can get it

i'm using a normal buil-in-oven... the normall size. not the convectionary or the bakery use one... my shifu, AY, using the super big one. later i post her oven pic, need to find where i keep the soft copy .. haha!
i dun open bakery shop lah... i'm counting company money for living.

thanks for ur advise. I think really something wrong with the recipe I used..nt sure what i didnt add enough or too much. I waited and the centre still soft, even the next day. I made butter /choco cookies before, all turned out ok...very sad

Pink, maybe you can advise from the recipe i used :
<font color="ff0000">(highlighted in red are those i didnt put in)</font>

MANGO COOKIES
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp baking soda

<font color="ff0000">1 tablespoon molasses (optional)</font>
1 cup mango (or persimmon) puree
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
- i used plain flour. Wrong??
1/8 tsp salt}
<font color="ff0000">1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground mace or ginger</font>
1 cup Craisins, chopped
1 cup chopped Macadamia nuts
Preheat oven to 350F.
Using a blender, remove skin of fruit and puree until smooth. (Note: mango puree is available already processed in the freezer section).
Using an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg. Stir in baking soda, fruit puree and vanilla and molasses (optional).
Stir together the dry ingredients until well combined. Gradually add to the butter and sugar mixture. Use the blender to coarsely chop the Craisins and Macadamia nuts, being careful not to overprocess (or just break them up coarsely with a knife, if desired). Stir into the cookie batter using a wooden spoon.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets, flattening with the tines of a fork to make a criss-cross pattern.
Bake 12-15 minutes or until done.
Makes 2-3 dozen cookies, depending on size.

after lessons from 2 maids, i also decided that's it!

I suffered for 6 months taking care of my little gal and doing housework myself.. then i decided to employ part time cleaner.. she will come once a week. within 4 hrs, my whole hse very very clean.. hehee.. u can consider if u want.. my cleaner is not bad.. $11 per hr..

so u can spend more time baking, quality time with kids and husband..

CL and Shers, me too, sent my maid off last Sat and have survived 1 week without any helper. Damn shiong (esp since I'm working and my 5-month old Princess D constantly demands our attention) but I kinda enjoy the quietness and privacy at home now. No more weary of strangers!

But baking's going to take a hiatus now

me too.. especially if we are working mums.. made me feel that i dont have even sleep.. but of course, without to worry about strangers at home.. kinda feeling that 'its my home again'.. understand that..

actually i realise that alot of working mums are engaging part time cleaner.. worked out to spend around $200 plus each month.. its worth it.. especially we can have more time to rest and quality time with kids..

ya.. i agree with u that no time to go toilet.. my little gal is like my shadow.. where ever i walk to, she follows me behind.. even showering, we shower together!

But each time we look at our dearie, our hearts just melt lah, no matter how busy, it's worth it as long as we provide a safe, happy environment for our BB to grow up in.

Here's sharing with you my BB D's photo taken y'day. She's turning 6 months this Sun and we'll be sending her to infantcare beginning 2 OCT. Another decision which we hope we'll not regret.

For the fillings... cut short and put nutela! hahaha

I suspect my oven temperature not very accurate. Maybe it could be that.... instead of my hands? hahaha

how come to infant care? i always worry about infant care coz its not 100% attention.. its like 1-4 or 1-6.. but of course, if really no choice then infant care is the next choice..

Your cake are so pretty. I like the merry go round. Thinking of ordering for my girl 4th years old b'day next year. Do u provide delivery service? My hubby love convenience one leh.. if want him to pick up the cake, he rather ask me to buy from other.

My boy very naughty. Don't think I can cope if my maid is not ard. He considers above average, weighing 6.8kg @ 3 months.

I checked with PH before, they mentions vanilla oil taste stronger than vanilla essence. Other than that, it works the same.
