Saralyn: prob u feel tired . Take a rest and think of benefits of bf on them. I also thought of giving up but bm is good for bb . So this is what keep me going.
 
Saralyn, oops, my bad! Jab is $125. It is 6-in-1. BB had oral vaccine too so my bill for vaccines came up to $250.

Ladies, do you think I am out of my mind if I were to change job now? Like taking up a more challenging job? Is it too many changes in my life to cope with? I am not sure...
 
Hi Koirc, I think everyone has a diff stress level and its hard to say with certainty whether you could handle a more challenging role now or otherwise. Maybe you could ask yourself the reasons why you are contemplating this career move and weigh in the level of support you have re your baby. If your mama willing to help you 24/7 and this allows you to commit full time to your career then that is a consideration too.

Ya. Guess I am really way too tired, I actually sleep tru my alarm to wake up and pump! Missed the first pump in the night and now I am pumping now.. Sigh. But I must say I had a good sleep!

Koirc, ok ok! I thought the jab is so exp! Even $125 is considered too.

Can I ask ladies here.. If my boys take the 5in1, does he has to take another jab for the missing one jab compared to the 6in1?
 
Saralyn, 6-in-1 includes hep b. So if your boys take 5-in-1 will means that they have to take an additional jab, the hep b jab. 6-in-1 need to pay in polyclinic but bb is taking one jab less, so less pain. Personally I would rather pay a bit more than to get bb suffer though its free for 5-in-1
 
Koirc: what is the oral vaccine for? What is the missing jab? Hep b?
For job changing, it depend what u want. I think if it doesn't take up my time with bb, I will go for it.

MofMM and Dian tang, I really don't know if how it may affect my life and time with bb but I think since the oppty arises, I am going to try. Worry only when I get the offer.

Dian tang, the 6-in-1 includes hep b which bb didn't receive at 1 month lor. The oral one is for rotavirus.

Saralyn, polyclinic offers free 5-in-1 and hep b separately. So as Reikibaby says, bb will have to be poked twice.

Hi Saralyn, if u going poly for the jabs must make appointment early. Earliest I could get for my girls at the poly near my place (under Singhealth group) is early July for Hep B! And I can only make appt for 5 in 1 later after Hep B taken!
Hehe, nothing beats a good night sleep! The past 2 nights I missed the 3am pump cos too relaxed after the massage...

Babysmurf, GirlGirl, what is an appropriate thank you gift for Dr Tan and Ward 82 nurses? Thinking of bringing for each, one box of man yue cakes for them from Sweetest Moments..
 
Dian tang, thanks! I realised Everytime I missed a pump session I can pump out really alot! Haha.. But if stick to my 2.5-3 hours, it is pathetic..

Since you are pumping at night, you also bottle feed your boy too? Is he drinking at 3 hours interval at night? My help is leaving end of this month.. So, I am trying to train them to sleep longer than 3 hours at night but failed! Haha.. And, I wondering how can I manage feeding and pumping at night after my help is gone. I did one night shift before and I nearly died!

Koirc, regarding the job, if I were you I will go for it! I always believe got it then worry.. So, get the job first and after that then worry.. Somehow it will work out one! All the best!

I told my husband afew days back I miss working! Haha.. I want to dress up nice nice and go office. Haha.. I miss all my dresses and heels..

Ladies, need your advise on handling pumping outside.. Over the weekend, I went out for around 4-6 hours.. Sat I did latch one of my boy while outside and the other bottle feed since I can't latch 2 at the same time.. Then the next day, we were out also.. And I lazy to latch.. So bottle feed both.. Come night time my breasts were so engorged! It was so painful and lumpy and hard.. I faster go home pump.. I can't even massage the area coz it was really pain to the max.. And after that I felt so cold and like getting fever kind.. But lucky I manage to clear the lumps over 4 pumping sessions in one night.. But they are still lumps on the other breast which I am trying to latch the boys more often now hoping to clear them.. Anyway, do you all have such issue when going out for more than 3 hours? What is the best strategy to hand the baby an your precious breasts when outside?
 
Reikibaby, caved in and bought one bottle of Gaia moisturizer and one tube of Gaia Soothing Lotion for one of my twins yesterday. Smells v nice after application. Thanks for recommendation. Just two items $30 over.
Felt bad for Twin B - her skin less sensitive so she using cheaper products I already bought like Johnson baby lotion and even Tollyjoy (one big bottle $3)...
It's really hard to make things exactly fair for twins.

Today marks 3 weeks since they were home and they have used up 11 packets of NB Huggies - left 1 only. Bought 3 at $10 from the Feb fair and thought I might have extra to
Sell but it doesn't look like it! And I am even using cloth nappies in the day...I wonder if things will get better as they get older

MofMM, you're using Huggies? Is it good? I can't remember how Huggies is like. I'm using Goon now but thinking of changing to Huggies. But I remember someone mention it's quite thick.
 
Hello ladies, how do you keep bottled milk warm when going out?

Koirc: My gal have rashes using huggies and huggies cutting is smaller compared to other brands. Once I switch to other brand like pampers, mommypoko or merries, no more rashes. So it's trial and error and depends on baby's butt I guess. My favorite is Merries. It's thin and adsorbent; and always keep my baby butt dry. It's quite expensive though, so I keep stock when there is offer.
 
Dian tang, so you bring your pump out when you go out for long?

Regarding the fb, I have already set to everyone.. And accepted your friend request.. Any other setting I miss out?

Mummies, under Dr Tan HH who had delivered, when shud I book my room, I'm already in my 30wks n dr tan want to induce me at 37wk.
 
Girl girl: For size S 54 pieces previously I bought at $18.95 (slight discount) and purchase more than $75 there is $10 Ntuc voucher. So works out to be about $0.30 per pieces. If no offer, it's close to $0.40 per piece. The recent offer at expo is the best about $0.29 per piece; bought 4 packs of S and wanted to to buy M & L too but sold out.
 
saralyn i nurse my baby when i am out. But sometimes bb only nurse one side and take the other side 3 hours later. hence i had experienced mastitis before, so you better take care. Try to find a place where you can pump out or nurse your baby. Dont drag too long.
You should go for a massage to clear this lump. or ask your hb to help you to massage and clear the lump away.

Kittykatty, do u meant ebm? For me, i will keep the ebm in a fridge to go bag and then either bring hot water out or ask for hot water at restaurant. I did it less than 5 times cos mostly i nurse her.
 
Ladies, how to train baby to lift up head during tummy time? Bb always faces down and I am so scared he cannot breathe. He can't quite lift up his head which he is supposed to already.

I feel is so troublesome to bring the pump out.. Need to bring ice pack too. Is like carrying a school bag. Haha.. I'm using Pisa so the bag is a backpack kind..

Sade, thanks.. Ya.. I feel like going for those massage to remove those stubborn lumps on my right breast. It is always there. My left one will go off very fast.. Guess I have to be hardworking to latch the boys when I am outside..
 
Ladies: how to remove stubborn milk residue on baby's tongue. I tried give a mouth of water after fm feeding n even use my finger to go in n clean her tongue. Bb will always make the vomit sound or refuse to open her mouth.

Any solution for that.
 
Wah, baby last night growth spurt or something. He is now 2 weeks and 2 days old. Last night, he just didn't want to sleep, every hour wanted a feed. I think between 10pm to 6am, he drank 350ml!! Don't know how he store all that milk in his tiny body!! He continued to fuss and to feed in the morning and thank goodness he finally slept in the afternoon. Seriously so much to worry about as a mother. Too much/too little milk/sleep/poo. Lol!!!

My complicated CL situation continues. Now my second replacement can't come tomorrow and to cut long story short I will have no CL for 1 week starting tomorrow. After that my current one will return and work for 1 month. When I got the news this morning, I immediately called up confinement food catering and arranged for 1 week of lunch and dinner. Hopefully I will survive the next week!! Fingers crossed that baby will behave!

Koirc, don't worry about your application now. Apply first and once you get the offer then evaluate the situation. The interview is a 2-way process, once ou speak to them and know the role better, you will be better equipped to make a sound decision. Personally, if it is a good opportunity and does not compromise too much time from family, I'll grab it. The initial adjustment and settling period will be tough but soon that will pass and you'll get into the swing of things. All the best!

Saralyn, you are so funny to miss work. I'm already checking work emails everyday so it feels like I never left. Also I'm the opposite. I don't want to leave home and face the world. Feel so fat and as we don't have a car, bringing baby out feels like such a big operation! Lol!

Psp, oh soon!! You'll have baby in your arms! I still remember my delivery day so clearly. It was such an amazing experience and I could relive it over and over again

Lil ponyo, sounds like my boys... Didn't sleep the whole morning.. Keep feeding and after feed don't want to sleep even thou they yawn n I pat, carry, rock them to sleep.. Then after awhile started crying.. Sigh.. This cycle repeated afew time before they finally sleep after a feed..

Woah! Good luck to your 1 week. No other help?
 
Koirc, is bb suppose to lift up the head ard 3rd mth? my MIL was saying that it's too fast and I also don't know? I seldom let my bb lie on tummy, the polyclinic doc say it's good to train the back muscle and should do it for 15mins a day. I keep forgetting...

Hmm I'm still worry abt my girls's FM intake, each feed only max 80ml and ard 7 feeds a day. seems very little compare to the rest... How to increase her intake?
 
hi does anyone know when bb starts to recognize environment and ppl? My girl now will refuse to sleep in my parent's place or MIL's place and will be unhappy if feed by my mum's maid or even my maid. Last night even refuse to be fed by my DH.. how to send her to infant care?
 
Znatasha, last time the caregiver at infant care told me that babies start to recognize environment by 3rd month. That's why she told me don't wait too long to send to infant care as baby will cry and need adjustment period.
 
Lil ponyo: I am feeling the same as u. Motherhood is tough . IVF procedures and preg is not the toughest . Everyday have new things happening. Today my bb vomit lots of milk . I was so nervous and heart pain when c him like that .
 
Lil and Dian tang.. I agreed with you 2 with both my hands!! Looking back the ivf procedures and the 9 months pregnancy with bad ms is nothing compared to motherhood.. However, no matter how tough is it, at the end we still do it with all our hearts for our babies.. Every morning I wake up and think to myself how am I gonna go tro the day looking after 2 cranky boys again.. Then when night comes and see them sleeping soundly on their bed, I will forget all the "naughty" things they did in the day and still love them to bits!

Hi Koirc, my 2cts is not to change to Huggies. I'm using the last packet on my twin with thicker skin but changed to pampers brand for twin A. Huggies is half the price at 12ct per piece but the cutting for NB is really very very small! 2/3 the size of Pampers and Goon which I have too and have started using for the girls. Huggies also v thick compared to Goon - if I could redo things, I would not buy Huggies.

Znatasha, yes I think bb is supposed to be able to lift head at 3 months. The health book has the developmental checklist which needs to be done at each pd visit. The pd has asked we give bb more tummy time. My mum tried today and bb couldn't lift his head.

Saralyn, I totally agree. Whenever bb cries the roof down, I get so stressed out. But when he smiles and makes sounds like "ah gu", my heart just melts.

as for white stuff on tongue, I see my CL take one piece of white facial cotton pad, dip in warn water then use one finger to put pad into baby mouth and clean gums and tongue. Twice a day b4 each bath.

Sade, Saralyn, do your breasts start leaking after a warm bath? I just had this happen today! What a mess - any tips how to manage this?

Znatasha, intake slowly increase bit by bit - my girls each at 100ml for EBM now...from 80 up to 90 then hold a week. Then as the intervals between their feeds get shorter, ie its obvious that the milk can't last them the usual 3 hrs, we increase by another 10ml n see if baby can finish.
 
Koirc, use rattles or any obj and make sound. Baby will be curious and will try lift their head. Do it daily and once baby neck is strong, baby will be able to lift up.
 
Saralyn, I think I may ask my auntie to come help me duing the weekday. At least I'm not alone at home. Ya, the ivf journey is nothing compared to this. Same, just seeing my baby all snuggled in my arms is priceless

Dian tang, when growing up my mum used to tell me "wait till you become a mother, then you'll know what endless worry is" and I hate to say it but she is right!!! I seem to worry and heart pain about all kinds of stuff!

Mofmm, good point about the milk intake. Maybe that's why my baby needs constant feeding. Will try and increase by 10ml tomorrow and see how.

My breast leaks after a warm shower too. Usually happens when I'm due for a pump soon so I just quickly pump when that happens.
 
Mofmm: I use that on my girl also but still have the white residue. Maybe my fat finger didn't manage to scratch some out.

I try some sample dryper on my girl very thick also. More thick than huggies. Best merries. Thin n gd absorption.
 
Saralyn, I am using Ameda pump, I bought an attachment that can be attached to the breast flange to use as a manual pump to bring out with me.

Kittykatty, baby smurf - hmm maybe I should try Merries, a few mums have told me they really like it. I still have a lot of pampers to finish though! Oh, and I bought an insulated bottle bag to keep ebm cool and the Tommee Tippee Travel Bottle Warmer from amazon to heat up. Can make use of free shipping

Koirc, don't get stressed by the milestones on the booklet, your bb will surely learn to lift his head in his own time. We started bb off by putting him on the chest first at an inclined angle, so it was easier for him to start lifting his head. I also turned his head to the side so it'll be easier to breathe and more comfy.

MofMM, I had such leaky breasts, leaving trail of breast milk all over the house. After a warm shower, I'll press on the nipples to stop the flow temporarily and quickly put on a bra and breast pads before I do anything else. But the leakiness gets better after a while, mine improved after 2 months
