Happy New Year 2013 mummies!! how is the first day of work or school for everyone?

seems like most of us having boys.. mine is a girl and we have named her.. haha..

Sorry for the late reply. I only seen Prof John Tee once and he is rather very quiet and didnt talk much. Was inside less than 10 mins including the scan.
 
just wondering.. how do mummies cope with a toddler (3yo) and an infant? I cant imagine how my mom gonna to cope when im back to work aft my ML. She dont want a maid to help her and my elder daughter is attending 3hrs lesson everyday only.

Same feeling as you. Initially feel tummy growing too fast but now like remain the same not growing. Still need to wait for another 2 weeks for my next appointment.

today is kind of the revelation day..told my colleagues etc...hahaha..new yr new beginning...

trust me...there is economies of scale in volume....say if u have 2 ..its doesnt mean the work doubles..probable..1.25 or so...

my fren told me after her number 3..its even easier than when 1 become 2..coz #1 n #2 play wiht each other..dont disturb mummy n #3

but if 1 only...the #1 will look for u...right.. i hope it happens for me...

Jaime - I'm having 3rd bb too.. Quite a few other mums here also having no.3

Hapieger - I looked after my two girls alone. Your mum will have to bring the baby along when she brings your toddler to school and back. So eg if bb is asleep no choice still got to wake bb up cos you need to bring toddler to school or go and fetch her home. It is very tiring cos will get no rest. Non-stop feeding/cooking/dressing kids/tending to them etc.

I only ever got to rest or have a proper bite to eat when my hubby comes home. Otherwise if baby is napping I need to cook for my older girl, make her eat, then wake,feed and change baby, get them both ready to leave the house etc. that time it was winter so it took ages to dress 2 uncooperative kids.

At least in singspore no need to change bb's clothes before going out

I am using Clarins when it comes to stretchmarks. My gfs swear by it. So far those who used didnt get any but must be very religious about it!

I am having some zits on my back and I find my face and back to be quite oily easily. Am using jorubi aloe vera gel for those.zits and it seems to curb somehow. Fingers crossed!

I just managed to come in today it has been a busy day for me.

Last time my tummy will feel itchy now this time wont because I think super stretch... wa ha ha save on $ for the tummy cream.

I heard the Clarins Tuille Oil or the Elancy one is good but I have a lot of stretch marks le so this time I wont even bother. Too lazy to apply anything

I hope when #2 comes out I will be able to cope 2 children. My #1 is 2 by then. I am just very very afraid that she will be jealous because all this while she has been my precious first born.

I have tried post natal massage and super shiok de .... all the tight knots will be smoothen and the massage lady even help me massage the breasts so that the milk flow will be better. This time round I want to increase from 5 days to 7 days since this is my last pregnancy just want to enjoy.

I have a preloved, almost brand new Avent Twin Electric with manual pump to let go. I had this serviced at Philips last June 2012 and they gave me a whole new set - motor plus breast pump and accessories. The breast pump and accessories are all brand new since only the motor was needed to be replaced. I only used this for 2 weeks when I decided to stop breastfeeding. This comes in an elegant black tote bag. I'm letting go of this for $300 as I need to clear my space (Suggested retail price: SGD 779). Philips will honor this warranty since I have the receipt of their service. Date of purchase: January 13, 2012, warranty for 2 years, registered online.

estaefran> u can sign up for classes at any maternity hospital. e.g if you are a TMC patient, u sign up at TMC ParentCraft classes, got discount or wat. Same for KKH/Mt A etc.

for me i signed up with KKH

saturday classes at $180 but at least dun need to rush down after work at 6pm and classes start at 630pm
 
Hi estaefran: I called up my clinic, since our due date is in June, is good to start in March or April.

Ladies: do you have any advice on whether to hire a nanny or put the child in infant care? If Nanny, will have to find a reliable one but i was told that usually child with nanny doesnt learn to talk early as most of the nannies are not educated and if in infant care, the child will be given proper training and learning lessons but will fall sick easily.
 
I was checking out e TMC ParentCraft classes on TMC website, full course fees during weekend costs $300+. Thats quite exp.

For mummies planning to deliver at TMC, are u signing up for their First Born Incentives membership? Is it worth signing?

PSP, oh, don't need to start so early huh, hehehe...

my colleague sent her bb to infant care and he caught a fever on 2nd day. after that, she didn't bring him back as many babies were crying and having runny noses. she engaged a maid and got her mum to help out with the babysitting.

girlgirl..thanks.the gor gor wants a didi coz he oredi have a very terrorising mei mei. .the girl is quite oblivious..not sure y coz at the same age my boy oredi had her mei mei...n the girl for now is still very much the baby...I worry she will get super jealous...

I used to use clarins. ..but this time I try bio oil..super cheap...compare to clarins. .to me no diff..just tt better put then don't put bah..
 
Ohhh......another boy. Think most of the girls will only be appearing next mth.

If can, I don't encourage to put in infant care at such a young age. Just feel that nt so gd for them to expose to all those terrible virus whereby they have not complete their major injection yet.
 
I don't believe in nanny...coz u never know if they r good or clean unless recommended etc...I heard of nanny illtreating the kid also....so when I had my first one...I send him to ifc at 10 months old...first 3 months every other day school will call..fever...vomit etc..but It gets better thereafter...

for my girl coz we change my boy school n the school doesn't have ifc...my mum help till 17 months...n I apply to mcys for early admission to same cc as my boy...surprisingly health wise she is better...ie less calls from school for pick up...as compared to when I started my boy...my kpi was 5 days attendance...every week never even manage to attend 5 days due to illness....
 
that said lots of my frens has nanny. ..plus point...the nanny help with no 2 full day..and help fetch no 1 from cc n feed themdinner before pick up

I have huge problem with dinner...coz we r not bk early enuf to cook...so the kids eat tingkat dinner...I hate it but the kids eat..got meat got veg. ..sometimes we will pre boiled soup...I guess its balanced...

So young they already at childcare? I was so scare that the childcare called to asked me pick them up. My #1 I sent him to childcare at 18mths n he fell sick almost 2 to 3 days every week. #2 I just send him to childcare at 2.5yrs old. And he fell sick much more lesser.
 
for me at 17months it was far better than 10 months...albeit diff child...school makes a diff also...my fren kid always fall sick at school A..once he went school B
.he did much better health wise...
don't know y..perhaps the school more strict in isolating really sick kids...
 
i only send my kid to half day cc as a start for playgroup programme.. and indeed she does fall sick more often and i fear when the school announces an outbreak of HFMD.. and i normally isolate her from school when i see such a letter.. call me paranoid.. but the kinda work and effort to care for the child and a balance from work is really not that easy and just not that risk.. i rather isolare her from school for 3 days.

i remembered there was 1 morning when i send my girl to school and there was this parent nagging at the teachers at the frequent pick ups, cause of the sick child.. overheard the parent asking the teacher to just isolate in a different classroom till end of the day, rsther than coming down to pick up.. not sure what happened after that.. imagine if the teacher really gave in to the parent, it will be bad for the child's health and also jeopardises the rest of the children.. virus could be prevented.. but it was not.. moreover, a sick child needs more attention and isolating him or her in a seperate room does not make the child feel any better.. in return, the teacher will neglect the other children in the class and accidents happen.. haiz..

so yeah.. for me.. i would not send my girl to school if she is sick or there is a breakout of stomach flu or HFMD.. is not worth the hassle..

I am still comtemplating whether to send #2 to infant care or not because by then I would have gotten my license to be a real estate agent... actually now already waiting for the license and I am good to go.

My #1 no childcare so stay at home for now.

Nope Joanne I am a mother of soon to be 2. My #1 is about 21 months le....

I just thinking whether should I put the future #2 to infant care so that i can work more and earn more $ for the household. Life with one income is sad and tough for me.
 
Oh oh... my number 1 turns 16 months a few days ago..... I have registered her for half days playgroup to let her interact more with other kids and learn to be a lil more independent.

Jaime, I just returned to work in October after being a sahm for 2 years. My oldest girl just turned 3, and the toddler is now 15 months. Both now in full time childcare too,

i tried leaving the youngest with nanny for a few weeks but it was quite awful. She cried and cried everyday for weeks whereas by 3rd day in infant care she wasn't crying anymore and looking forward to school everyday. Downside is they are ill several times a month, but I'm still very pro-childcare. They learn so much more and benefit a lot from the social interaction.

The nanny charged 850 to look after my girl, while full day infant care costs 900 after subsidy. And the nanny was also looking after 3 other kids, not counting her 2 grandchildren.. The infant care centre only had a max of 7 infants at any one time and at least 2 caregivers at any time, although usually they have 3 on hand.

So I find infant care much much better compared to nannies.. The nanny basically just sat the kids in front of the tv the whole day, so it was just a stopgap measure while we waited for a place to open up in the infantcare.
 
We also just employed a maid, but intend to send baby no.3 to infant care after my ML ends. Cos I think the maid is more for helping with the housework and cooking. Her English isn't very clear and the nanny generally speak a mix of singlish too.. Have read that babies learn language and grammar even before they begin speaking; and I'm afraid they will learn ungrammatical singlish if left in the maid or nanny's care.

Have no personal experience with low placenta but I did read on some forum before that sometimes the placenta can shift higher up later on in pregnancy?

I'm currently 16 weeks and hv no idea whether is boy and girl. When will I know? My next doc appt is 14 Jan. wll there be a detailed scan to determine e gender?

Sorry for so many questions cos this is my 1st child after few IUI and IVFs.
 
Psp, my kids are at Global tots@ holland village, you can google for it. But it's a bit inaccessible unless you drive cos located right inside at the end of chip bee garden. When I have to fetch the kids it is a very long walk from the holland village mrt

You will definitely know the gender at the detailed scan at 20 weeks unless your baby is like eldest, go and tuck her umbilical cord in between the legs so totally cannot see

today i went for my 16 weeks gynae appointment, my doc try to see the gender but.. bb not cooperative.. so cant see. now i have to wait for 30 jan... for my detail scan.
 
Psp, I sent my boy to IFC when he's 3.5 mths. I prefer IFC to nanny cos nanny is jus one person, I will never know what she does to my bb. At IFC at least there are a few more pair of eyes, if one is bad, I feel others will note. Also, like what other mummies say, IFC teaches more stuff than nanny. But of cos there will b things that u dun like IFC is doing, I jus have to close one eye.

Sf8, my placenta is a bit low too, but have since moved up a little though still low. I have a friend whose placenta is low so got to csect, but nearer to Edd, it moved up n is safe for natural delivery. Maybe can ask your gynae?

Last pregnancy that I had I had some bleeding so gynae commented that my placenta was low. But will shift up if not c sect will be the option to give birth. There is still some time from EDD so hoping your placenta will shift up.
 


Hi Sf8, I had low placenta too when I was in my 1st trimester. During that time, gynae advised no sex for the time being. But now my placenta is no longer low-lying anymore.
Like what absentmama said, most of the time, the placenta will shift upwards together with baby as it grows.
