my gynae told me to take folic until at least 5 mths when bb's nervous system is fully developed then stop.

Sherill: I didnt take folic acid tablets on their own..i have been taking the blackmore preggy pills which contains folic too..gynae say juz continue with those..never give anything else.

 
Hi Misty : I stopped taking folic acid by 3 months and switch to multivitamins which also contain folic acid, so now i am taking multi vit and calcium.



Hi Komathi : I attended the KKH antenatal classes as TMC was too far. Overall it was a good experience for first time mums. They show videos on birth, demonstration on how to bath ur baby, make nappy and also exercises to strengthen the pelvic muscles.. hubby should go with you cos they can get involve and help u in ur exercises or if u encounter any cramps they will know what to do. I heard from my coussie, TMC teaches how to massage the baby, not for KKH though but i am not sure if the cirruculum has changed. you might want to call or check their website

 
Ting, where did u order the clarins oil? I bot mine from robinsons at $80 cos I'm sceptical abt the quality from the wholesale shops.



Littlepigpig, does mrs wong only conduct classes on Sundays? Cos I prefer Saturdays.

How much did u pay for the whole course? Any discount for FBI?

 
im also still taking folic acid. Can't remember gotta take for how long though.

For anternatal class, last time my colleagues recommended KKH and TMC. that time they memtioned KKH class is cheapest (now heard price increased) and most comprehensive while TMC forcus quite abit on breast feeding. i attended clas conducted at KKH cos cheaper and more topics are covered. i find my hubby and myself learn alot from the class indeed. the class really helps prepare us for parenthood.

 
Hi all, I also take folic acid for the first 3 mths only. After tat, will take the multi-vits(which contain folic acid), fish oil & calcium till baby's born.



For my last pregnancy, I started to drink the Anmum milk after my 5th mth. This milk also contains folic acid. So, if any of u started drinking early, then think there's no need for the pill anymore actually.



I donated the cord blood to the public bank for my first child. Most likely will do the same for this one.

Hi hoshi - I dare not buy pants/ shorts yet coz my bum is quite big, so for the first time i am only buying the tops.

Komanthi - My tummy is rather big.. for 12 weeks and is already showing, but those who dont know mught just feel i put on alot of weight ;p

They say its like that for 2nd preg since tummy aldy stretched =X

 
Wow, all of u so hardworking to go for classes. I'm a lazy person so did not attend any class for my last pregnancy. But still managed to cope..



Info for those giving birth in KKH : On the day u discharged, the nurses will ask u to go to a small gathering place where they will teach u how to bathe a baby.

 
my dr say no need folic acid anymore but he din give me multi vits, he gave me fish oil, calcium and iron pills taken seperately one

 
Daphne - Hahaha how u managed? I rem the first time i showered my bb was hell! He kept crying =p

After 2 baths i know his pattern liao..

Then i kept latching him on coz he's always awake but for the first few days, i do not feel engorged at all.. i realised i got no milk yet when i started to pump -____-



now 2nd preg liao, hope with the help of CL, i can be more "zhai"

 
Hi Bethel, I ordered mine thru an online store. it is $60/bottle with postage included. hmm...i think the stocks at wholesale shud be quite alright since many pple been buying from them and i no come across any complain on their quality on newspaper so far. as for departmental stores, they definitely have marked up their price to a great %. unless u have their membership, else u will definitely be paying alot extra.

Poor Mummy, I did not bathe my bb. My hubby was the one doing it & I just stand at one side to help. We did not employ CL & my MIL did not know how also. So, for the 1st few days, my boy also keeps on crying.... Think it's quite normal for bb to cry when bathe for the 1st few days. And my hubby actually learn how to bathe the bb only from the short demonstration at KKH on the day I'm discharged...

 
my hb blood test come back normal, heng ah.........

so now i don need to check anything right? the nurse call my hb, then he jus okok then put down phone, din ask further, haiyah men ah

 
Hi Komathi P, r u referring to tummy? for me is quite obvious already. esp when i sat down. i think for 1st pregnancy usually not so obvious. i remember during my 3rd trimester in my previous pregnancy, when i went to shops to buy maternity wear, the sales person still commented too early and say i too KS.

wah coconutz, u r pretty tall...

I'm abt 1.64m, and the pants fit me just nice... so i guess it may be a bit short for u... but the dresses and blouses should be fine coz typically maternity clothes are longer...



Poormummy, I bought the berms and pants... they fitted nicely... but I bought slightly bigger (about L size), and think they can last me till then end, coz the pants are fitted with the rubber elastic, and they are not too tight... I remember last time taking folic acid till abt 5 months, then when I start the package with gynae, will then take the calcium and multi-vitamins. But right now, I'm taking the neurogainpb fish oil too....

Not sure whether to take this up or not. When I had my 1st bb, me and hubby thinking abt it... and then we didn't sign up coz that time 5 yrs ago, technology not that mature yet, and we were thinking maybe to kiv till 2nd bb... now I don't know... any idea on the price?

 
I think it is good to attend the anternatal class cos i don't think is posible to squeeze the 9 or 10 lessons to that few hrs when we are at hospital. furthermore after we deliver, i think its better to get more rest at hospital before we goes home and face the "music" ourselves ;)

Anternatal class: I did not go for any due to timing problem and hubby not that keen for my #1 but i think its good to go to be more prepared.



I did not bathe my bb for the 1st mth cos they say cannot touch water mah, but they really can cry their lungs out when bathing.



I am taking multivits and folic acid. Will prob start fish oil soon.

Since me 1st preggy think wun so fast have the tummy rte..maybe in 3-4 weeks time..i am anticipating!! Cannot wait to see bb growth next week!!

 
Hi Komathi P, ya. during my 3rd tri, many pple still urged me to eat more while Gynae asked me to control my diet :p i think maybe is becasue i wear jeans and loose tee, so not so obvious. maybe if we wear dress like babykoh, shud be able to notice by then liao.

 
komanthi, it will be sad also seeing the size we put on and the weight. my hub rub my tummy tat day and call me MI LE FUO, i ignore him the whole night but thinking abt it again, quite true look like MI LE FUO hahaha

 
Komathi P, no worry about ur tummy la. as long as Gynae scan shows baby development on track can liao. i remember a mediacorp actress worked until she 7 or 8 months and all her colleagues don't know she is pregnant. how i wish i can achieve that also :p

 
Komathi P, i forgotten how much kg i put on exactly le. i think around 20kg. don't dare to recall actually :p my #1 is 3.72K at birth.

 
Komanthi - For my 1st preg, I was "visible" until I was at abt 6mths...

Now, like what Miako said is all the "left overs" from no1. hahaha



Miako - yes very tiring indeed. I do everything including carrying the heavy tub of water to bath BB..

mummies, hw much weight hv u gained so far?



I remembered watching a documentary on SCV 2mths ago.. there r ladies who got pregnant without knowing. How can it be? Some really din suspect till she's was sent to hospital and by then she's already due for delivery.

 
babykoh : ahha so funny. My hubby has been gaining weight and I sometimes ask him, how come your tummy bigger than mine.

previously I also gained alot.. 20kg.. my gal is 3.51kg.



Now this mummy still has the last 10kg not lose yet *faint*. After my 2nd child, Im determined to lose all the weight.
