u not alone leh. last nite my tam jiak fellawanted to eat whole nite, literally whole nite! and i not even talking abt comfort sucking lor. cos i noticed his sucking pattern is those deep suck and with lots of gulping and swallowing. i only got to sleep at 4.30am for only an hour! before he woke up wanting to feed again all the way till 7am! i only managed to take cat naps of 10 mins in between.
ur sam definitely is gettg enuf milk from u from the weight gain he has so dun worry abt it. hey u doing well so jia you ok! this pattern is only for a while until they stabilise their schedule.

sorry only managed to login now.... TMC service really not very good, dunno if it is because of the expectations I have from the praises i heard.
I was admitted at 5pm on 030909. At the counter, i was informed that there is no more single bedded room. they then told me they will admit me after delivery in a 2 bedded and change me to a single once available.
I was then brought to the labour ward. However, i was not sent to a delivery suite as i was told they were all full. However, i was informed that i will be transferred to the delivery suite once it is available. Imagine, i was in the observation room, with 2 other couples from 5pm all the way till 8am in the morning before i was transferred to a delivery suite!
Also, after 5 hours of contraction,i decided to ask for epidural.. I waited for an hour for them to pass me a consent form to sign, but nothing came. In the end, my hubby went to the counter to ask for our doc to perform c-sect. Guess what the nurse said?? "Why c-sect? because of pain? Pain is not a reason to do c-sect?!" My hubby then asked her if we really want, how long we have to wait... she replied "Today alot of c-sect, i cannot confirm with you how long u have to wait!" my hubby then just walked away and got another nurse to call our doc... duh....
Later in the night, i asked for an extra blanket as it was freezing. the nurse refused to give me and said that it is not that cold as they have switched off the aircon. Who is she to tell me whether i am cold or not! half an hour later, my hubby got another nurse to get me th blanket, and i waited for another half an hour for the blanket to arrive.
As if the dissapointment is not enough, after delivery, i was looking forward to a good rest when i was informed that there is no room for me, not even the 2 bedded ward they informed the night before! I was then put in the observation room again to wait for an available room and was there from 10am - 2pm before a room is available!!
all in all, disappointing in all aspects.... service esp, most nurses were rather rude, esp the local ones...
i dun think my hubby will want to stay here for our next child....

the engorgement is KILLING me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! arghhhhhh.......................................
anyway on 1st Sept
8.30am - supposed to reach clinic at this time, however we only headed out fr home to gynae's clinic at this time
9.00am - reached hospital bt called the clinic asst tat we are going to the hospital cafe for breakfast 1st
9.15am - at clinic. did a 20min CTG
10.05 - 10.15am - gynae did a scan and VE which tells tat i was already 2cm dilated. At the same insert pessary to soften the cervix.
10.15 - 10.45am - taking a break at the cafe before proceeding back to gynae's clinic for 1hr CTG
10.50 - 12pm - on 1hr CTG
12pm - at delivery suite and processing admission
12.30pm - having lunch at delivery suite
2.30pm - starts having slight cramp like pain
3.00pm - pain getting intense so asked for epidural
3.30 - 4pm - anesthetic doc came and done with the epi procedure
5.15 - 5.30pm - with guidance of the nurse fr the delivery suite, with 2 contractions and pushing, bb's head seen
5.30pm - gynae is here and with another contraction, bb was out with juz one push...
Got my 'Sept and delivered after 3pm' Moomoo baby....
6.45pm - all the drips taken out
7pm - at the 4 bedded ward
10.30pm - 2nd sept 6am - sensed heavy flow down under. flip open blanket and saw heavy bleeding, staining whole pads, underpad and blanket...pressed bell for nurse...the nurse help me to the toilet whereby all the blood gushed and trickle down my thighs, staining badly on the flr...the nurse helped me sitted on the toilet bowl whereby she saw a tiny bloodclot outside my V. she tried to take out the small clot and who knows, a big clot of approx 25cm diameter was pulled out and dropped on the flr with a 'blopped' sound. i was feeling giddy and nausea by nw. i was wheeled fr the toilet to my bed. by then the nurse has called her mgr for help. and the mgr informed my gynae. i was given medicine and put on drips and urine bag. they say coz this is my 4th bb, my womb laxed liao, so didn't shrink resulting in heaving bleeding and clot, my full bladder cld have cause obstruction to the womb shrinking back oso. the medicine and drips given was to help the womb to shrink...thereafter i was sent back to the delivery suite for monitoring, And my gynae rushed down to check on me at 11+. hub returned to hospital at 11+ too bt went back at 12am+ when c i was so tired and falling asleep already...*whole nite nurse came in n out to check if bleeding has eased and at the same time take BP*

hello ,i m frm thread the aug mtb ,i agree with what hollow had said ,i had some bad experience with the nurse svc attitude at the tmc there..some are rather rude and not helpful,as my is a c section,i try to bf ,but this particular nurse juz push my bb there and expect me to come down frm the bed to bf my bb,when i ask her for some help,she rudely ans me i m the mummy so must learn,but the problem is i haveing pain frm my c sect mah,is juz the 2nd day.cant she help to carry my bb and pass to me.piss off loh..
ok... I'll shall go get some NUK or pigeon Bottles... I only have one medela bottle (from my breastpump) to use at the moment..The Avent ones really doesnt work for my boy... keep giving him hiccups cuz flow too fast...
You all have clot bloods & heavy blood flow ah... I didnt notice leh... After delivery ard 2 hrs later I go toilet to pass urine plus change pad... Maybe pass out already I also dunno... Jia lat... but my heavy flow was for about the first 2 days... Now slow flow with a bit of yellowish or blood mucus like...

I'm actually very shocked that both of you receive this kind of service from the nurses. Both times i was at TMC, I receive very attentive service leh. In fact, when I had K, I was rather irritated by the nurses cos they were too helpful. Kept insisting to help me latch bb on when I told them I know how to do it! Then when I was BF-ing K, they were going on about how long I should latch him on, how to check if he's drinking, not to worry that bb will suffocate cos his nose is pressed against my boob... That's why your experiences of rude nurses really appalled me!

i also have bad experience with the 3rd floor nurse.
when i admit to tmc, as the premier ward (5th floor) nt ready yet, so they let me take the 2 bedded (3rd floor) one for the time being.... the nurse at the 3rd floor is so unfriendly and rude. when the 5th floor room is ready, she gonna push me there, while on the way there she see her the other friend, she say "u so lucky to in charge of that patient, mine is this one"

But the nurses at the 5th floor, really nice. They are friendly, helpful. keep asking us wat we nid, they get me and hubby each an extra blanket. They are patient wif me and bb during breast feeding.

Seems like last nite Sam really wanted to feed at 10pm. But.. he kept struggling & pushing away, then strained to get back to my niiple, on & on for the whole time! I fed him like an hr then gave up & Hubs bottle fed him my pathetic storage of 10/15ml og EBM which he gulped down then kept quiet till he woke us up again at 3am for another feed. Why ah? Not enough to eat, or let down too slow, or he's just being notti?

By the way, are you recording down all of Sam's feeding patterns? I finally manage to catch K's pattern after noting down all his feeding times and which breast/s I fed him on. Apparently now he need to empty both breasts in order to go 3-4hrs until next feed. Then he has a habit of cluster-feeding between 7am-11am, as well as 9pm-2am. Maybe you try to jot down so you can catch his schedule?

yes jotting down schedule is a good idea! maybe can start when my joseph boy is 2 weeks old. now his pattern is erractic! anyway his frequent feeding good for building up my supply also.

u take care ya! my mom had haemorrage (spelling?) when giving birth to me and needed 2 packets of blood transfusion. she is also anaemic to start with. eat lots of iron rich foods to make up for ur blood loss and rest lots!

U missed an 'h' haemorrhage...i am oso anaemic to start with...bt my case will only end up as haemorrhage if the drips and oral medication didn't work...lucky it does...
brought my gal to the PD juz nw coz she has gt big pimples with pus on her scalp! the Pd has to break the pus and apply antiseptic cream after tat *heartpain* don't know why like tat!?!
Anyway the nurse there commented: errr... this mommy arh, u look sooo....then hub asked: what? she replied: sooo pale....hub say: tot u gonna say pretty...*siaoz hub*
think I AM really pale and look sickly...my lochia oso very lil nw...think i really lost too much blood tat nite....

hi all. congrats to all mummies who have delivered. is amazing that all of us at a diff stage & sharing diff experience.
jus came back from gynae check up.
Took the glucose tolerance test today, at week 36. it was high.seems that the urine tests tt i took every gynae visit were unable to detect GD.
anw the results were out after i reached home. thus mon got to see gynae again..no wonder my baby is consider big. now have to start monitoring my diet.

As I shared in my blog, thankfully I succeeded in breastfeeding for my #2! After gone through this, I can say BF is definitely not easy. How I wish it's like opening up a tap, just turn it on and off whenever you need milk. But it's not, it's a lot of hard work, and esp not easy for 1st time mum, and those who have elderly to look over your shoulder and constantly give you their comment :-(
If you are really determined to BF, then you gonna read up more and ask around more so you know what to do and what to expect. Every baby is different, so don't compare how much your baby drinks with other babies. As long as your baby wet her diaper >6x a day and poo, and seems happy and alert when awake, then you are on the right track.
For the first few weeks, latch and pump every 2-3 hours. If your baby doesn't empty your breast, pump after latching, so that you have extra milk to keep and emptying your breasts help to boast the supply. If you feel your baby doesn't latch properly, better get a lactation consultation now rather than later. Don't hesitate to get advise from expert, maybe just that 1x consultation will change your whole BF experience!
My gal used to latch on for total 1.5 hours on both sides, and very frequent. But now, she is 2 weeks old now, she usually latches for 20-30min each side, and so max is about 40-60min per feed. I am lucky that my baby doesn't demand for feed so often, usually every 3-4 hours. At night, she can stretch to 5 hours without milk, I am just lucky
Last but most importantly, I agree with some of the mummies here, BF is meant to be the most wonderful thing in the world, so it gonna be a enjoyable experience. If you are feeling stress/unhappy because of BF, maybe you want to take a step back and look at what has happened or what has gone wrong. Again, seek advise from expert if necessary. Talk to your spouse or family for support/encouragement. Maybe supplement with FM for a day while continue to pump, and get relax for that very day and think what could have gone wrong and then start afresh.

I kinda feel bad for my hubby as next week he has to go back to work and he's such a light sleeper so I kinda want him to "practise" to sleep with me waking up and feeding the baby at night, so he just sleep and never move!

Yeah, I agree with SHELLED, KAM, CAMOMILE3 and MAMATO6JS...each baby is different and feeding pattern is different, so we just need to see what our baby's feeding pattern is....and perseverence is key.
I'm also a first time mum and was quite skeptical about breast feeding initially (having small breast to start with!) but after hearing all the benefits of breastfeeding, i die die almost must TBF my baby.
And my "small" breast now produces a lot of milk, until its leaky! so not true small breast doesn't have milk! heheh...

Congrats to all the newly-additions to our mummies! Been busy with work, even HOD can see i am stressed T_T
Anyway, am hoping my girl pop near or after edd since i am allowed to break leave. heh heh. My colleague told me mt A same price as KKH O_O By the way, KKH offers this classic n premier package. Not sure which to choose.. should i pay about $300 more for my gynae and his nurse to provide private and personalised care during labour or save the $ for a team of trained doctors on duty will be involved in the assessment of labour? He will be the one doing the delivery for both packages just the difference in monitoring part i think.. dilemmmmmmmmma...

den for de 2nd day on, i brought disposable undies n use with my sofy one. din buy de super long one dey mentioned. i bought the 35/38cm sofy ones. find dem good enugh. cos de bleeding is so heavy, u change very often. no need really buy de super long one. cos backside area usually no blood oso =p

Hollow, ylang yalng... the nurses are so horrible! last time i was at 6th floor, the nurses were quite okie, but seem not good at advice on BF-ing.
i was pissed with one nurse at the nursery, she didn't give my baby the jab (forgot for what), but recorded in health booklet, then walked away. when we checked with other staffs, they searched for her to confirm whether the jab was given or not. waste our time.
another dissatisfaction: i was transferred to another ward after delivery, then the air-con in that ward was spoiled - too cold!
hopefully this time i will not encounter these unpleasant incidents..
but i was very glad to have Mrs Wong the lactation consultatant to help me in BF-ing on the next day after delivery. The first night my baby wasn't able to latch due to my poor position. then when Mrs Wong came, she talked to baby, massaged my breasts, put baby on them, and *dada! baby was sucking!

in ur case i think ur bb latching is not correct. he must take in ur whole aerola if not end up keep sucking but nt gettg enuf milk n worst cause u to hv sore nipples. u must make sure his upper lip face upwards n lower lip face downwards.
my bb sucks continuously for 15 mins each feed. i think his timing still all salah lah! cos noon can last 2-3 hrs but make up for all his loss at nite lor, keep feeding non stop. hope tonight i hv better luck!!

I haven't tried using the donuts warm before leh. Agree with mama to 6Js that hot shower is the best! If happen to leak (which most often will) then the water will just rinse away all the milk! hurhur. No mess to clean up.

When we just had #1, I just KICK my hubby awake. I don't care! Really not comfortable for me to keep getting in and out of bed to get the baby lor, cos of my c-section. My hubs got "trained" that way until this time he automatically wake up when he hears baby cry. Even if it's to prepare for diaper change first. Cos if he don't wake up I will kick him again!

Eh, buey zhun one hor. My boys could never take the whole areola, cos my areola gets really huge after pregnancy! (Very ugly lor.) When I had J, i also kept trying to shove my whole areola into his mouth, until Mrs Wong told me if areola too big, how can I expect bb to take it entirely into his tiny mouth?? Just make sure bb is taking the whole nipple and MOST of the areola. BB's mouth should be wide open when attempting to latch on. The tip of bb's nose should be touching your breast. Should be alright that way. Try to get some advice from the lactation specialist also. Don't suffer sore nipples! Sore or pain = incorrect positioning/latching.
Oh ya, try to squeeze out a few drops of breastmilk and rub it over your nipple & areola, then leave the bra open to air dry for a while. Should help counter any soreness before you manage to get more nipple cream.

waiwai: they only allow breaking of leave on case to case basis. but as they say lo, school needs first. I don't have anyone to look after my bb you see.. even my confinement also DIY. My mum is kinda clueless about confinement and is working as adjunct. She already said she not keen in taking of my bb... so have to depend on myself and hub lo. But i do need to return during dec hols to work on stuff. My P did mention i can bring bb to work and do nursing etc since not much ppl will be around during hols I really appreciate what she doing lo.. it can really help me in a way or another since i need time to look for care-taker.
regarding packages @ KKH hor, what cheaper package are you referring to? I only know that if you want your gynae to deliver for you, like in my case, i had to stay at least at B1 ward (not sure if they stand there and see labour process though). For more information on their Maternity Packages, you may email to [email protected] or call their 24-hr hotline 6394 1881. You giving birth @ KKH too?

wah ur case is classic case lah. now i tryg to imagine how big ur aerola is! haha... sorry sorry yah i mean the mouth must cover most of the aerola. dun say urs v big cant cover mine so small also impossible to cover the whole thing lor!
v happy last nite only feed 2-hourly. his cluster feeding ended at 12 midnight! but thats also becos he was sleeping next to me! if sleep in the cot dunno why will wake up every hourly to feed!
to those who r popping soon, jia you ok!! few more weeks to go! enjoy it while it lasts. now i starting to miss those lil kicks n punches, at times can get quite emotional abt it :-(

I am back! My EDD is 11 sept, Baby choose to arrived on 26 Aug! Hahah...
Now trying to cope on how to take care of bb. I read many of you are BF BB.
Did any of u stop BF due to bb's jaundice? I tried to BF for abt 4 days and BB's jaundice is quite high. I stop totally and let her drink formula for 3 days and check again her jaundice is ok. Now I still let her drinking fully on forumula.
Bringing BB for check again on Tue, the nurse tell me usually it take 2 weeks for BB to clear Jaundice. I am still pumping but throw away. I wanna keep the milk flow as I hope to BF.
Any mummy with the same experience?

Cause for my #1, I was ever retained in the delivery ward at KKH cause of over bleeding..
Now baby #4 already, scared will have complications..
