gilbert, she may want to take an iron supplement if she feels tired easily, or else, eat iron rich foods. she should continue taking folic acid, dark green leafy veg and lots of calcium rich foods like toufu, hard cheese (avoid soft cheeses unless you are certain they are pasturized), youghurt, or else, calcium supplements. there are several types in the market, but try to avoid the cheaper calcium carbonate (generic name) as it's the type hardest absorbed by the body. She should try to eat food high in protein but keep to lean meat. Bear in mind that what she eats now will put onto her body frame. If she eats food high in fat, it's harder to lose that additional weight post-delivery. If her increase in weight is caused by healthy food like fruit and cereal, it's easier to lose that additional weight. i'm speaking from experience. I lost 20kg in 6 weeks! didn't go for any massage too. I just breast fed.
All foods in small amounts are okay, except for raw foods including semi cooked eggs, mayo,. some mummies find spicy food causes cramping. for me, I was okay with spicy food but found that watermelon and pineapple caused cramping. So I limited my intake of these.
