Whether to purchase antenatal package or not

Hi,

We're a couple seeing a senior consultant (Dr. Vanaja) at NUH. We're both EP holders. We're charged resident private rates, which I believe are slightly cheaper than non-resident private rates. Our typical doctor's visit charges are $117.60 for Consultation and POCT Dipsticks.

We were quoted $1177 for the antenatal package, including all doctor's consultations and POCT Dipsticks from week 22, 22 week FA scan, and 32 week scan. Given the NUH staff are so busy, it's very difficult to get clear answers from them.

Is the antenatal package any cheaper than paying for each appointment and scans individually?

if later we had complication and need to be referred to another doctor, will it still be under package? cos i saw cannot change doctor if we purchase package.. anyone knows? cos i asked the nurse, the nurse only replied, dont think too much, mostly the doctor can resolve the problem... hmmmm
 
As the nurse told you, they'll say this doctor can mostly handle the problem. but if you want a referral to someone specific, then you're doing that voluntarily, and then your package is void. if your original doctor says they cannot handle, then dunno leh, only NUH can answer, but seems unlikely. doctors would usually give you the choice.
