What's my next step?

Hi all mummies, I just used the home pregnancy kit and found out I'm pregnant. So what's my next step?

Call to book appointments from the respective hospital or go to the nearest clinic to see doctor first?

Anyone can share with me their packages from checking up to give birth? (Prefer kkh female doctor)

Congratulation! You can start book an appointment with a gynae.
The first thing I do is to go to neighbourhood clinic but they told me actually no need to go to them, suggest I go find gynae instead. Do a random search and call up gynae but they will make an appt to see me only when I am around 8 weeks.
Think now you can only be relax, have a healthy lifestyle and wait for your gynae appt.

Congrats, take care and rest well, take folic acid everyday. You can look around for gynae now. If u prefer KKH, can go to the website and look for the doctors profile, see who u prefer and call the hotline to book your appointment. You will be considered as private patient and everything will be charged at private rate. There is no package for prenatal check up in kkh, all pay per visit. You will be seeing your gynae about 10-12times of prenatal check up.

Hello nvidia! Thanks for your reply! Any ideas how much per visit? If I were to go polyclinic to get referral letter to kkh I will become a subsidies patient right? But then can i still choose the doctors I want in kkh?

I should warn you polyclinic waiting time is atrocious . Wait two weeks for appt for urine test (something u can just buy the pregancy kit and do it at home), one week for results and months for referral to KKH. If you decide on other hospital , you can jump straight to gynae appt.

Hi jellyfish313!

Thanks for your advices. I've also heard about the crazy waiting time at polyclinic. Cause for now I'm unsure about the cost of being a private patient if I were to walk in to find the doctor I wanted. Worried that my financial might not be able to make it. :(

You can't choose doctor if u want to be subsidied patient. You will be attended by a team of doctors whoever is on duty.

Subside can save money but end up using a lot of your time . I read from a blog a woman wait from 8:30-3:00pm >,< if you don't mind that is! =D

And super congrats!

Thanks so much for your info! My hubby doesn't allow me to visit male doc so I think I've no choice to choose a female doc :)

Thanks so much for your info! I use the digital clear blue and it showed 2-3weeks. I don't have any female doctors in mind to be my Gynae. But I prefer kkh. You have any recommendation?

Congrats! Means you still have time to find a suitable female gynae for your first prenatal appt. Better start taking folic acids first ;)

Hello! Noted! Thanks for your info!

You're welcomed.
If finance is ok for you, perhaps private patient (in restructured hospital or outside private) is better in terms of waiting time and more personal service. Also especially you prefer female gynae, not sure if subsidized patient can request to see a female one every time.
Different people would have different expectation, so it's not easy to recommend a right gynae as your friend or relative find somebody is fantastic but you may not feel the same way, vice versa. Look for one which is within budget and you feel comfortable with her during check up.

Hi all, I just made an appointment with Dr Tan Kim Teng at kkh private suite. Just nice on my 8th week! I was told its $118 for first consultation. Can't wait for it to see my baby! Anyway thanks ladies for all the help these few days!

Thanks girl! Can I ask how many weeks are you at now? Which hospital and Gynae did you chose?
Hi, just saw this, I'm just into my 16th week today. Opt for tmc and Dr Benjamin tham. I found him randomly online and decided to book his package on our second appt.

Able to know is baby boy or girl already? I just made an appointment at KKH. Hopefully everything goes well!

Normally gender will be confirmed at 20w during detail scan, unless you're willing to pay more than 1k for Harmony test, results can be known as earlier as 10w.

Yah. I took up the harmony test becos of my age, so I knew it on my 14th week. But if you are young and healthy, can skip the test and wait for the surprise @ 20th week :)

20th week seems to be so long! Haha. Now I already felt that my first appointment is so long already! Can't wait for 26th may!

Lol. I totally understand you. I'm also a first time mum and the wait is like... As I said, I'm not young and heard some unhappy news from friends before, so I was half excited and worried for the appointment, but when you get to hear the heartbeat of your baby, it's the amazing moment when I finally assure I have another life inside me ;)

You are making me so excited now! Can't wait for my baby first heart beat. But still, read a number of negative stuffs about pregnancy. A little bit worried too. :(

I know can't helped but just try to relax and cheer up. I am a very negative person but luckily my hubby very supportive. We just try to read up more and pray for the best to happen. Happy mum will help the baby to be happy kid too. Wait for you to share your happy updates :)
