Dear Moms/Dads,

As a first timer, I was in a shocked state last week, and now this week I am overwhelmed by information about pregnancy and having so many thoughts about which Dr to choose and which hospital is comfortable for my delivery. So hopefully, some experienced parents out there, will help me ease my concerns...
Last weekend, I was tested positive! And went to KKH the next day for an A&E for some brown spotting.
Dr did a scan and confirmed a heartbeat and now being scheduled to see the Ob-Gyn in 3 weeks time.
I am contemplating to just continue with the subsidized consultation and scans throughout the pregnancy, up until 1 or 2 months before my EDD, before I swap to a preferred Dr in either Mt A or TMC. Reason why is that I hope that by doing these I can budget the initial checks and tests (oscar, harmony etc)... and then still go for comfort during my delivery....
What do you all think? Comments appreciated! Need someone to brainstorm!

Maybe u should look up on which private Ob-Gyn that u would like to see and check out their package. Some offer package from week 15-22 weeks which includes some detailed scans etc.

My Friend did her checks at Govt hospital and went to look for private clinic and sign their package thereafter. But some gynae will require u to do extra test although u did at govt hospital already.

You’ll also need to consider if the preferred gynae in the private practice still have slots for you if you only intend to switch over in 1-2mths before EDD. Those popular gynae are usually booked by then.

If budget is a concern, will suggest you to stay on with the subsidized government hospital. Giving birth in private will costs you about $3K cash minimum if you’re going for normal delivery without epidural & without any baby complication.

A routine checkup at private practice will cost at least $150 per visit excluding all the extra tests & medication.
