Is the yaolan OK for a 6 week old baby?

Hi mummies, I have a 6 week old baby boy who has been crying non stop for the past few nights from 12 am to 4 am. He gets fussy sometimes in the day as well but just needed to carry him or pat him for a while. But the real nightmare starts at night when he will just bawl no matter what we do. Sigh. Hubby and I are at our wits end. He has suggested getting the sarong but I have my apprehensions. Is my baby too young for the sarong? How old were your bbies when u put them on the sarong? Any long term side effects?

Please share your thoughts!! Thanks in advance!!!

Mine was 1 month old when we started her on the sarong. We weaned her off it at 16 months. No side effect at all.

Hi, as the previous post suggests it sounds like your baby is colicky. Mine was too. There are no side effects of yaolan but they feel better when they are held upright. Rock them while holding them upright. They feel better. Another thing that helps is to take them in a car ride. They love it. We don't have a car so we used to hire a taxi to go around few blocks. Also Google white noise for babies. Put it on loud volume (even for a 6 week old). The sound imitates the blood circulation inside the mother's womb and it's more louder inside the mother's womb. It also helps to have skin contact. Daddy can rock baby upright without a shirt. These are some things which I remember. Don't worry they will outgrow it. Don't bother going to polyclinic cos they give a standard medicine called ridwind which never helps. Try these methods and if you need more help you can message me. I had done lots of research on this cos my baby was colicky

Might be growth spurt at this time. Bb may need more feedings. Check n see if baby open mouth when you caress yr finger across his mouth. If he opens up, he might be hungry. Another method is to burp bb upright. Put bb head across yr shoulder and burp. Air might come out easier

Hi ladies thank you so much for your response. It's been a few weeks and my baby has just turned 2 mth old. I did get the yaolan in the end and it helped to a certain extent. We also used most of the methods above and I am amazed how well he responds to the sound of the hair dryer. Calms him down almost immediately! As a new mum I guess I also gotta be more patient in handling my baby. As the weeks go by,he's sleeping better and crying lesser. Hope things will be better soon!

my mom put my boy in yaolan when he is 6week old..
and usually he will sleep in there in the afternoon, but at night we'll transfer him to bed..

I have let my baby sleep in sarong after 1 month old till 14 months. day and night sleep. automatic rocking non stop. I know horror to a lot of people. But we do what we have to do. As long she sleeps I don't really mind how she's getting it. No sleep equals no growth. If she doesn't sleep no one does! She automatically weaned herself after 14 months. Didn't want it anymore. Now sleeping on mattress. Just want to let anyone who's worried about putting their baby in yaolan and getting addicted. That there's no need to worry. They'll let you know they don't want it anymore after about 1 year.
