hey! anyone here using the Glenn Doman flashcards? Care to share some comments and ideas? I'm now reading the books and starting to do the cards for my 4 mth old girl.. wana know how effective it is?

michelle, I've been flashing word cards to my gal for abt 4-5mths liao. But didnt see any special reaction for her. I just continue cos she seems to enjoy herself while I flash the cards.

I start flashing the cards when my boy is 3 month plus and he really loves it until now. He's coming to 9mths. He really concentrate when I flash the cards, seem to be in his own world when I keep flashing them. But once I stop, he will cry. So no choice I need to continue flashing until I am tired , then I will tell him "boy , mummy is tired, we stop for the day ok?"
 
michelle, my gal is 10mths now.

Sakane, I think according to GD method, we only need to flash 5 cards each time. So how many cards do u flash in one go? Your boi is so cute.

I started the GD methods when my boy is 13 months, a bit too late for him le.. He is now 18 months and he is doing very well, he can also recognise many words..

Is ok that your girls/boys has no special reaction, as long as now we try to 'input' as many 'data' as possible, they will eventually show u that really knows where is the words/what words is that..

U may try to play along while flashing, for eg, if your girls/boys already can walk, you may ask her/him to find the words for you, you just need to put some cards on the floor, tell her/him that mummy is looking for xxx, and see whether she/he could get it for you...or stand on top of the card. But of course, that is only meant for a game.... Don't be too upset if she/he did not pick up the correct one...

U may also try to write some baby songs lyrics on the cards, then sing and flash to show to them. They will love it very much...

btw, did you ppl sent ur girl/boys to any enrichment class?

It's good to hear that your child loves the flash card. My son is 7 months old. He likes it when i flash different colour cards or farm animals cos then i will sing Old Mac Donald to him.

Hi, my girl is also 7mth old. Can your bb sleep thru the night now? Have you introduce solid food?
 
Worry mum, how do u know that your boi can recognise words? I've been flashing for abt 4mths plus but still see no results leh. YOu're rite that we shouldn't test our bb. So I just flash the cards to her since she enjoys it and I've made the them. I thot of sending my gal to either Kindermusik or Growing Up Gifted but no time to go for trial yet. Do u send your boi to any enrichment class?

michelle, do you have words on the colour or animals cards?

my bb started slept through the nite at about 3 months old. he woke up at 3am every day when we try him for the promil gold. so we change to Similac and he slept through the nite ;>
yes, we have introduce solid food, porridge, cereals and fruits. What about your girl girl?

I do not have any words on the card. For the animals cards, I will make the animal sound. He loves it.

As for whether a child recognise the words, probably at a later, they may pick up faster when older. So, right now it's too early to tell the results...

Wow, really envy you. A pity Similac doesn't work for my bb. I'm still Bfg, usually only give Similac when we're out. hb feels that BM not filling, so ever tried giving her Similac before she sleeps, but she still wakes up every 2-4 hrs.

Started giving her cereal at four mth, porridge from six mth. Now she take cereal for lunch and porridge for dinner. thought porridge more filling, can sleep longer, but guessed I'm wrong.
btw, how do you prepare the vege for porridge, my mum told me to use a sieve to scrap, tried using the sieve in pyo pyo baby food maker, but not very efficient. what's your method?

Sorry for late reply.. I sent my son to Baby Jumper Gym, he really enjoy the singing..gym..RBS, flashcards etc, there..

Giggler, I have tested out my boy by asking him to search the words for me, and each time he pick up the correct one.. therefore, I think he really knows it.
 
Worry_mum, is BJG really good? Where is the place? Is it ex? I'm going to Kindermusik trial to give it a try.
 
Giggler, u may try www.bjg.com.sg, they have 2 school, 1 at katong, 1 at yishun. The fees for my son's class - Walker class is $320 for 10 lessons (1 term). I forced myself to let him attend the class, therefore I enrolled for 4 terms @ $960 (buy 3 terms free 1 term), therefore is about $24 per class. He already been there for 1 term. I think the Trial class is $20 per class..

As compare to Shichida Class, I think is 50% cheaper...

As for other enrichment school, I'm still looking for information....

worry mum, I'm going for a trial class at BJG tom. You mean it's similar to Shichida class? Which enrichment centre are u looking into?
 


Hi, giggler, so which BJG u will be going to? katong or yishun? What time? From other forums, many parents had been discussing abt it, and most parents said is similar to Shichida and only different is the language taught. In Shichida, they teach Japanese also, whereas in BJG only Eng and Chn. I have not try Shichida, is too exp, dare not to try it out.... No extra $ to commit la.... haha. I'm currently looking into Zoo phonics.. in Bukit Timah area. U ever tried?
