Endometriosis

Hi Everyone

I was diagnosed with Ovarian cyst in both of my Ovary which sized 10cm and 6cm. The term used is endometriosis.

I went for laparotomy to remove the two cysts in end jan 2012 and now recuperating at home.

I went for check up today and the doctor recommended to me that to take contraceptive pills so has to suppress my hormones so as to prevent the cyst from recurrence.

I am planning to conceive in order to prevent the cyst from coming back. The doctor advised that to rest well for the next 3 months before trying to conceive.

As there are side effects for taking contraceptive pill, i did not go for this option.

I am very worried that for the next 3 months without any medication, the cyst will come back again.

Can share any similar experience with me?

I was diagnosed with endometriosis too but did not have cysts in ovary. had remnant blood stains on uterus walls. gynae said is every month menses nvr clear properly.

i also went for key hole surgery (can't remember the exact name of op) to clear the remnant blood stains. Before the op, I went for a scan and scan showed no cysts but in the end, during the key hole surgery, doc found n removed two small cysts. He said so small scan couldn't detect.

My gynae also told me endometriosis can recur. I rested for a month and he said 2nd month can start trying. I conceived third month after surgery. My gynae gave me some medication to help me ovulate.

You are right that conceiving can help to prevent or at least delay the recurrence of endometriosis.

Hi, I have endometrosis and adyneometrosis as well. I went thru key hole surgery in June 2007 to remove a 6cm cyst on the right ovary. I was only 25 then.

Right after the operation, i went to various TCM to nurse my health also to prevent recurrance. And i try to conceive which i couldnt. In April 2009, i went back to gynae because i couldnt conceieve after 8 mths of TTC. Gynae told me i have a 4cm again on the same ovary and ask if i would like to wait or proceed for another keyhole. I told him i will wait and come back in 6 mths time. So i went to Dr Tan at clementi, not sure if it was luck or fate, i actually conceieve in July 2009. The pregnancy was smooth sailing and i deliver in March 2010. The cyst actually disappear after i gave birth. In Jan 2011, i conceieve again and i went back for a scan, gynae told me the cyst did not reccur. I gave birth in Oct 2011.

Gynae told me there is a chance that endo will be gone forever also another chance that it will be there again. There is no way to prevent it.

But do rest assured, it is possible to conceieve with endo.

I did not have endometriosis but I did have problem conceiving. Also had some cysts. I had a miscarriage and went to a TCM doc, Dr Tan at clementi as I want more natural treatments for my infertility. I agree that birth control pills have long term side effects and should not be taken lightly. Basically these problems can be attributed to hormone imbalances. The TCM did stablize my period, but I still did not conceive after 1 year.
At this time I heard about chiropractic, whose main principle is to promote natural healing by letting your spine and nerves work optimally. I conceived within a month! My sister, who tried 3 years for a second child also conceived in less than a month after going for chiropractic sessions. If you wish to have drug-less, surgery-less approach towards managing your health, I strongly encourage you to go for it. I am currently with Chiropractic First. You can google them. They are reputable and well established in Singapore.

I had cyst in one of my ovary and doc gave me pill to stop my period so that the cyst can shrink (ard 3 mths supply). It works but after stopping for a few months it came back

this has been on and off for few years. Doc advised if I get married, I should try to conceive immediately. Doc did not prescribe after I got married as that pill will lower pregnancy chance. I got pregnant soon after. But I am not sure if the cyst is still there or not. Hope this helps.

I have endo since I was in my 20s. Had 2 open surgery. Last surgery was 1.5 years ago, put on lupron depot and now it has come back. Doc advised me to go for hysterectomy or i will have risk of developing cancer. very confused now.
anyone has a good doctor specialising in this problem to recommend for 2nd opinion?
