Christian ivf mums or mums to be

hello rejoice- glad to hear from u! i am just like you too..i am still very fearful..so was wallowing in self pity and was talking to my son what will happen next week.

my son very kindly told me maybe he will not go sch when i go for my er or et and will accompany into the op to talk to me so that i will not be scared and later before he slept he said mummy remember you just relax and it wont be painful..

i was so touched and prayed that i will be brave ... my son even tell me to be mr brave ..

just curious what is the role of husband on er or et? did anyone of your husband go to er or et?

hi, i jst came back from kk. Today is my first puregon jab, thank God no blood test today. The puregon needle is really as fine as the lucrin needle and the pain level is abt the same. phew!

I will have to inject both lucrin and puregon for one more week and then go back for scanning. I pray that my body is responding well to the drugs and doesn't require any prolonged injection.

Does anyone know if i need to eat more eggs during this puregon stage? If yes, how many eggs a day? I think i read somewhere in another thread but couldn't remember clearly if it's during puregon stage or 2ww.

hi rejoice, welcome here! If you have any questions or doubts, you can post here and we will help each other.

toy - your son is so understanding and brave. At this young age, he is not even afraid to go into the op theater with you. So, you must be brave too. For ER, I don't know what to expect yet but i think we will be put under sedation and when we are awake, it will be done right? Hubby will just have to produce the specimen b4 our procedure. As for ET, in KK, we might not be put under sedation but i think i will request Dr Loh to put me to sleep even for that few minutes...too scared and nervous if i am conscious. Hubby might be allowed to go in with wife during ET. Let's keep each other in prayers so that we will be strong and the op will be smooth.:p

The rest of the sisters here, how are you doing?

hi everyone,

thanks for your replies. really need all your support here.

toy,

your son is really sweet yeah.. so r u going for et soon?

hope to learn from all of u here..

hi Toy - ur son is so sweet...he is such a dear. For my hubby, he did not go into the surgery room with me (for ER - he will need to give his "troops" so he was at home and I think the gynae does not want someone esle in the room cos u will be under Local Anthestic). For ET, I did not ask if hubby can come in (cos my hubby is the type that is not too comfortable seeing me strapped to the chair and the whole proecdures)...so i met him in the room (where u will recover) U may want to ask ur gynae if ET stage, ur hubby can accompany u.

Hi Rejoice - welcome. Understand how u feel cos IVF is not a simple road to walk on. But no matter what God is with us and that is the only comfort we have.

Hi NZ - I did not eat the eggs during the puregon stage but during 2ww. I rem reading one thread and the nurse said egg whites during injection stage, but my gynae did not tell me to eat more protein thing until 2ww. But 2ww - u def must increase ur protein intake (which egg white is the easiest). As to how much - it will be how much u can handle. Take the high protein milk from GNC as well. All these supposed to help in easing the OHSS effects.

I did my scan today and manage to see the baby wave to us. The aminotic fluid is still low and pray that God will make baby strong and safe. I regretted to say I surf the web on low aminotic fluid on Thur and realised how dangerous it could be that I was so scared that started crying while praying to God. But I will still surrend to His will, and accept His will.

hi Rejoice - saw u in the other thread as well... what questions on IVF u will like to ask, we can help u out here ...

The procedures between some clinics diff abit...but ultimate aim all the same -- to have a baby.

Thx for the info, vanilla. Every stage of the journey is not easy and there seems to be obtacles after obtacles. Let's pray for God's protection to cover us with His precious blood.

thanks ladie for the encouragement.. u know i think the nurse burst my vein? during blood test last week. cos now i see 1 line of blue black from the needle poke and my hand is still hurts from the blood test.

i bought myself cereal in case i cant make myself lunch next week.. i guess my er is this coming fri/sat n et on mon or tue..

my husband is still in reservist so he will produce the specimen n i will take a cab home. i think same for et too...

thanks vanilla for the suggestion of high protein milk cos i think i eat that with cereal.. we will eat tingkat for dinner i guess. i read in an ivf thread 1 mum even manage to work after et..but i think i will rest but will do cooking like noodles for lunch i f i am sick of cereal..i thought i need to bed rest completely n i will just eat bread n drink packet milk till dinner.

vanilla- great to hear that your baby waving at you. i rem i was so happy when i saw son's sucking his hands in the ultrasound.

NZ- i told the dr to give me pills after et n not injections cos i think i am not ready for that..

i need lots of prayers cos the dr say she cant guarantee a gd egg only after she exact the egg n see if it fertislised. so might not have et even..

However i am telling myself to leave everything to GOd whatever the outcome is...

NZ, we might be on 2ww together..

Rejoice- sorry i dunno much abt ivf except i dun like to do blood test so often.. will update u on er or et later on..take care!!

Yes NZ - today is Easter Sunday and it is proof that our God lives!

Hi Toy - ya, better not move around too much during the 2ww...u can also try to have tuna/sardine with bread (cos tuna and sardine high in protein). rem dont take too much soya bean products before ER and even after ET also dont take too much cos soya is high in estrogen.

Yes, we shall all leave our worries to God, becos everything will be according to His will.

I asked Dr Loh if he is able to put me under sedation during ET coz i am very afraid of pain. His reply is very brief. He just said it's possible but not advisable. So i think the answer is 'no'. Pls also pray that my follicles contain eggs when i go back for scanning on Sat.

Toy, i will pray that your one and only egg will be fertilised and healthy.

Vanilla, be strong ok? God knows your worries and He will fight this battle for you.

My hubby is packing his army bag now, i m a bit sad that he is not around. Hope he can be home everyday to help me with the jabs and be able to produce his specimen on my ER day.

Thistle, how r u?

thanks vanilla!

can i ask all of u if i shd make an appt to c e doc before i embark on ivf? have many ??? and have actually forgotten what i have been told during ivf counselling.

can i ask all of u something? if my menses do come but the cycle is actually within 2 mths, do i need to take contraceptives as part of the ivf procedure? not comfortable in taking them..

how do we actually start ivf? i remember calling kk and asked. the nurse said to call ivf centre on 1st day of menses. is that rt? then what do we do after that? don have to c our doc at all?

sorry, have so many qns to ask..

Hi rejoice, i am with kkivf too. For my case, once my gynae has signed me up for ivf, i have not seen him so far. He also did a blood test for me prior to the start of ivf coz that day was my D4 of menses.

On the same day of my briefing by the kkivf nurse, my gynae also scheduled me to see him that same evening but according to the nurses, it's not necessary to see my gynae coz they said my blood test results are ok to go. The nurse then went thru my blood test results with me on the spot and also did a blood test for my hubby. That evening, i emailed my gynae and he is ok for me to go ahead. However, i personally feel that if your gynae has scheduled you to see him b4 you start ivf, it's better to see him coz you might have questions after the ivf briefing.

As for whether you are required to take contraceptives or not, it depends on your doctor's review on your cycle, blood test, etc. I was not prescribed any contraceptives but i was reminded to practise safe sex (using condoms) when i called kkivf on D1 of my menses.

When you call kkivf on D1 of your menses, they will give you a date and time (your D21) to collect your lucrin and will teach you how to do injections. From then on, kkivf will take over and you won't see your gynae until ER and ET.

The nurses there will consult your gynae on the dosage and duration required for your injections at every stage and will prescribe the correct amount to you accordingly.

Not to worry, at any point in time if you are not sure or have queries, you can call kkivf and the nurses will guide you step by step.

Hope these will help you a bit.

Hi sisters, i received this easter email from a colleague this morning and would like to share with all of you here:

Your moment to fulfill
This day is too valuable to waste. The people in your life are too beautiful to ignore.
Take a moment to remember how fortunate you are to be you. Take a look around, with your eyes lovingly and enthusiastically open to the possibilities.
Most of what you fear does not even exist. Much of what you love is closer than you realize.
You are just one small step away from being on the path toward your most treasured dream. You are just one brief thought away from understanding the richness that is your life.
You have traveled a long way to be where you are. With every step you have gained something of real and lasting value.
Now is a day to move forward with more experience, knowledge and wisdom than ever before. Now is your moment to realize and fulfill the miracle that is your life.
-- Ralph Marston

hello sisters -

toy - pray that your egg will grow to the ideal size, be well fertilised, and baby well implanted!

i went for an update scan on Sat and realised my eggs din grow since the last scan. not sure why, i am thinking could be cos i was down with high fever and vomitting then. now my dose is up again, and will return tomorrow to check on the size. if all goes well (and IT SHOULD, AMEN!), my iui is this Thurs or Fri.

Sisters, please keep me in prayers... thanks...

Hi sisters in Christ - Thanks to all ur kind words and encouragement.

Hi rejoice - for my clinic, i had seen my fertilty specialist twice before embarking the IVF. first time was to let him see all my lap results and my hubby sperm test and have a small chit chat. Second time, I went to him during my D3 of my menses (so he can scan and see how my follicles are doing and did a blood test) and after that is my Q&A with him and let him know when I am comfortable to start.

Similar to KK, I call to make appt on 1 day of menses for D16 for the injection - Suprefact (which is like Lurin). Then 2 weeks later there will be a scan to see how u react to it and whether u can start on the Gonal F or Puregon. then there are abt 3 more scans to see how u react to Gonal F or Purgeon (this is to see if ur follicles are growing and the doc can adjust the dosage). Then ER date will be advised.

Dont worry abt the procedures, take 1 step at a time and all nurses and gynaes are very helpful.

Hi NZ - for ET, there is actually not much pain at all...or no pain at all. Cos the procedures take like 15 mins and no point taking anthestic cos that will cost u $ as well as effects of it. Actually I very curious type so was glad I am awake to see what is happening (unfort I took off my contacts so everything was a blur!).

I will continue to pray for all my sisters here to be strong and for God to give all of u strength and comfort.

thanks for all the information.. how is er like? is it thru our vagina? how do they vaccum the eggs..any pain..

hello Rejoice and thistle- thanks for the support!

Thistle- we might be on 2ww together... let keep each other in prayers!

Hi Toy, for ER u will be under GA. I cannot feel anything except being slightly bloated. Yes it will through the vagina. According to a documentary that i saw, is is like this straw like thing to suck the eggs out of the follicles (with the fluid). I did not feel too good after ER cos of the GA effects, vomited and was nauseous the whole day.

dear toy, thistle and nz,
jia you, jia you!!!! everything will be fine and soon you will have your bundle of joy in your arms... heheh, really can't wait for the good news... i really feel excited for you all...

Toy, are you on clomid? any scan? what is the growth like for your folicle...? i am so excited as your venture into natural ivf has open up an option for me due to my health condition and it's not so advisable to take too much hormone substance... i love to hear good news from you and i am seeing the doctor soon...

somehow i am so excited for you all even though i am not the one yet and i understand the pain that you all are going through now... but you all are strong gals and sure will make it one... yes ! yes !

i just came back from a trip and i am so grateful that my son enjoyed it so much... now, i feel energised... hope to hear good news from you gals...

vanilla, i din know i m also allowed to look at the monitor during ET...hmm, then maybe i might give it a try and see how the embryos are being inserted into my womb. Maybe this will help to distract my tension.

babylow, thx for your well wishes... i will jia you. Today is my 3rd day on puregon. Not feeling too well, a bit nauseaus but still can endure. Can't rly concentrate much at work.

Thistle, Toy - we will be on 2ww together. I think Thistle will be first, followed by Toy and then me. May the peace of God be with us and grant us babies soon!

Hi NZ,for me the gynae did not show me the monitor..but i look at the whole procedures with the embroyologist bring out the test tube and then how the nurses and the gynae looking at the monitor and then implanting them. Take care..i was nauseous too during the injection phase....it will soon past, once u start on puregon it will be very soon for ur ER.

Take care Thistle and Toy as well during the 2ww.

hi vanilla, during your ET, even without sedation, u didn't feel any pain at all? Any discomfort?

Yes, i also feel that ER is not far ahead ever since i started puregon. Today i am feeling better. Hubby jabbed for me b4 leaving for his army this morning. He learned to push the puregon pen really slowly and it's almost painless.

HI NZ - there is some discomfort when the gynae tries to find a good spot to put ur embroys in but that kind of discomfort is less uncomfortable than say a vagina swap or a pap smear. And i think i consciously try to relax the womb area (not to tense up) cos dont want to make it difficult for the gynae. It actually happens very fast - 15 mins. After that for me my gynae drain my urine out (not sure if KK does it) cos we need to go to ET with a full bladder so easier for them to read the ultrasound. FOr KK i hear they only let u rest for 15 mins. For my gynae at GlenE I rested in recovery room like 3 hours (that is why he needs to drain my urine).

hi mummies,

just came back from RE. only one egg (was hoping for 2 to maximise chances) but growing well on track, one more day of jab, tomorrow should be able to ripen them - iui will be Friday. yippeee.... pray for BFP!

toy, feeling excited for you.... when will your ER be?

NZ, congrats on your puregon stage. it shall be short and sweet - your eggs will grow well in Jesus name!

babylow, good to know you had a good bonding time with your son....

hi gals,

nz & vanilla,

thanks for sharing. have made an appt with dr loh. ll b seeing him this thu.

hope all of u don mind when i have qns and come here n seek u for advice. ald have many qns and uncertainties in my mind now.. hope i have the courage to go thru e whole procedure..

hi vanilla, if the discomfort is just like doing pap smear, i feel more relieved. I will try my best to relax.

Thistle, i am excited for you this coming Fri. May God guide your gynae's hand throughout the entire procedure. :p

Rejoice, maybe you can write down all your questions so that u can ask Dr Loh this thu. I realised i forgot to ask him this or that only after i came out from his room.

Today is my Day 5 on puregon. Last night, my hubby was allowed to come home but after much debates and interogation by the officers. At first, they did not want to entertain him. I believe it's our prayers that help. He left at 6am this morning after giving me the jabs. Sisters, pls cont to pray that my hubby is allowed to take time off during my ER...that's more important than coming home every night. This is adding a lot of stress to me and hubby now.

NZ, good to know your hb can come home during reservist to spend time with you. wow... Day 5... good good... before you know it, it'll be ER and ET.

toy, how are you? have you done ER?

just did a scan today, one more day of gonal-F required, so iui is now confirmed on Saturday AM. sisters, please cover me in prayers. thanks.

My hubby just called that he is not allowed to book out from army tonight..but the good news is, I jst called kkivf and the nurse said she can help me with the jabs. i will be gg down at 7.30am tomorrow. yeah!

toy, thistle - will cover you in prayers for ER and IUI.

helloo
NZ glad to hear the nurse can jab u..
i will be going for blood test n scan tomorrow then will know doing er on fri or sat..feeling excited and sad too cos dunno what to expect but trusting God that no matter what the outcome He is in control..

take care everyone!

hi toy, glad to hear that you r going for ER this weekend. Have faith ok, everything will be alright. Keep your focus on God, not on ourselves. :p

The nurse who jabbed me this morning is very nice. She is so good that i didn't even know she poked me. Even the puregon jab was a breeze. Much much better than being jabbed by my hubby...but cannot tell him lah, I also appreciate my hubby's effort.

My first scan will be this Sat, hopefully dun have blood test. After the scan, i will know when my ER will be.

Vanilla, how r u and your bb? Everything ok?

Hi Toy - will pray for u for ur ER this weekend...all will be fine..God will walk with u that day, holding ur hand.

hi NZ - thanks, am ok. Rather tired and yesterday had a weird pulling sensation at the womb area...was worried cos it was a new feeling that I had not experienced. This morning the pain is not really there..so waiting to see later if the pain returns..if so need to call doc.

Ya, nurses are very much more pro compared to our last min trained hubbies....my hubby used to jab the progestrone on the buttocks for me...now since it is a weekly jab, i get the injection from the nurse at the clinic - hubby less stressed too cos once he jab and so much blood oozed out...he felt so guilty!

toy n thistle

just pop by to say jia you!!! this sat/sun may God's presence be with u both n may the favor of God be upon the 2 of u as u go thru the procedure.i pray that God will annoit the hands of yr dr.s and medical personals that successful fertilization and implantation will take place and both of u will be able to carry yr baby to full term and have a smooth pregnancy and delivery. Amen!!!!

stay positive!
have faith that God will come thru for u guys!
happy.gif

waiting for yr good news in 2wks time!!!!!!!

Vanilla, i will pray for your pain to go away and tt your bb is growing well in your tummy.

Btw when do we need progesterone jab?
After ER or ET? is it daily or weekly?
if jab on buttocks one must be quite painful..*faint*

thanks to all sisters who are covering us in prayers. toy and thistle will have good news in 2 weeks' time - Amen! Glory to our Lord Jesus Christ! Amen!

toy - stay positive k? will be here to cycle with you throughout the 2ww.
happy.gif

vanilla, pray that bb is well and healthy, Amen! meanwhile, rest well and do not worry too much!
happy.gif

hi NZ - thanks. Thank God the pain has not returned.

i took the first progestone jab after confirming positive after the 2ww --> supposed to 2x weekly cos my HCG lvl not doubling. Then i stopped for 2 wwks when the 2 gynaes thot all is lost, but when bb surprised us with hearbeat, jab once a week. still taking it once a week until i reach 2nd trimester.

First time i jab 2 bottles -- cos it is oil based the injection takes some time. But for the sake of bb, endure the pain (and bruises). so the buttocks take turns, one day on the right, next time on the left.

I heard some gynae want to support the pregnancy and ask the women to jab daily...

vanilla, the preynal jab is good - it supports the preg. i had that till week 16, once weekly, for my first preg. in addition, i had duphaston tablets and progognova as well as crinone inserts. hang in there k! before you know it, you will see your healthy and active bb... ke ke...

Thanks Thistle, ya, i am taking duphaston daily now. Used to take the inserts and progonova during the 2ww..the inserts are rather messy.

I am actually very much at peace and burdened my worries abt the bb to God for sometime, but 2 nites ago, i think the devil tried to make me worry by causing me to have a nightmare on the baby, that some nurse/dentist (dont know why I dreamt of a dentist) told me to abort it.

Now when i sleep i pray to God for a restful n good nite sleep and in His name cast the devil away so the devil will not try to break my faith in Him.

Vanilla, when the 2 gynaes asked you to stop injecting progesterone, God must have given u extra strength and your bb must be very thankful that the mummy didn't give up. Right now in Jesus name we announce that the devil has no right to cause any harm to you or your baby. You baby is breathing the breath of God which is all powerful and all victory. In God there is peace in your mind and heart.

hi everyone,

just went to see Dr Loh today. Suddenly had the feeling of backing out when I was there. Dr seemd very rushed so din have a chance to ask many qns.

Went to IVF ctre and the nurse was very nurse. Explained the IVF process in detail to me. Still a little fearful. The picture they painted seemed to be painless.. Hope this will come to pass soon..

jia you to all of u who have come this far.. realise it is really not an easy road.

thistle,

u r in my prayers! pray that u ll have a smooth iui on sat n gd news from u soon.. = )

toy,

pray tt u ll have many gd fertilised eggs soon!

vanilla n twin,

how many wks r u now? must rest well k..

i ll prob start ivf within these 2 wks. hope my af will come soon..

toy,
please share with me why do you need to take blood test so frequently? what are those tests for? did they scan how many follicle you have? how many do you have now? are you on clomid? please share, please share. i really hope you would succeed in this natural ivf. i want to hear good news from you...

Good luck thistle...

Jia you everybody...

hi rejoice, don't be afraid ok? Take one step at a time. If i can do it, so can you. :p
Dr Loh can be rushing most of the time but rest assure, you are in good hands.

Toy, thistle - jia you, jia you!

Vanilla, twins - rest well and eat well.

frankly i also dunno.. the past 2 weeks i have taken 4 blood test. should i say 5 cos today they poke my left side n say cant collect the blood cos cant find the vein ( say vein collapsed) then my right side to collect blood. it is so painful... told the nurse pls make sure u find the vein before poking.. it is very very very painful.. they say cos it natural they need to monitor v closely n need to scan follicle size too - scan 4 times already since last wk..

dunno if can do er tom cos the lady who did the scan say lining still not thick enough..

i really look up to you ladies who take the jabs..did u take so many blood test. my both hands are so weak after taking so many blood test.. i think i better eat liver today.

i almost feel like crying at times cos i read abt those ladies in ivf/icsi thread they have so many eggs and only 5 or even 2 fertilised in the end.. i have only 1 egg so far n i really dunno the percent i can even do the ET..

but can only bite the bullet and trust God.. i doubt i will repeat this again..cos the blood test is soooo painful and my coll asking what am i doing with plasters on my elbow.. it really taking a lot of me just the blood test..

if need to repeat i will do a lap to unblock my tubes.. i really doubt i have the courage to do over all again n the anxiety to know if my 1 egg is fertislised..

thistle- hope to hear your gd news sooon.. rest rest well

NZ when is your ER?

hi sisters,
the blood test is to check the FSH and LH levels which is necessary to confirm if can go ahead with the ER. Though the follicle size might be good but if the FSH and LH level not good then cannot proceed. Also under MOH rules, need blood test to check for HIV, Rubella, Hepatitis etc (this blood test hubby also need to take).

Hi Toy - dont worry abt the no of eggs and the fertilisation, leave it to God and burden Him with your worry. This is really something we cannot control amd we have to leave it to Him. Re the lap, for me I have blocked tubes too, did the lap and confirm there is no way to clear. seems too stucked for my case.

Hi Rejoice - thanks. i am supposed to be 10weeks I think. Last week sat went for scan, thot was 10 weeks, but doc said it was 9 weeks 5 days...so abit confused..

Thanks NZ...trying to increase my appetite by eating food that is spicy, hot and sour. Hope my baby dont turn out to have a chilli padi nature.
