Can I Blend Cooked porridge?

Hi, anyone can advise if I can blend the cooked porridge in the Avent stem & blender. My mother in law told me this will create wind in the porridge, anyone hear of that before?

I hv the same thinking as ur Mil. And i also believe that blended porridge will turn bad easily if you are going to consume later.

For me, i buy new rice "xin mi" to cook. This type of rice is better for cooking porridge - porridge get cook easily n texture is also softer compare to normal rice. Normally i will use double boil method to cook small amount of porridge to prevent burnt porridge.

Yap.. I heard of xin mi, but is pearl rice better?
I don't think avent blender can blend rice grains, and I dun intent to buy another blender. :)
I hope blending the cooked rice will not a use wind though.

I hv never heard of using pearl rice for porridge. Just know it is rice for sushi. My understanding that Xin mi is new crop rice mean newly harvested rice and therefore ideal for cooking porridge instead of rice. It will cook up much faster and broken down much faster than old rice.

Just buy the smallest packet for a try n you will know the difference between new rice n old rice.

Heard fm mrs wong bb tmc. Blend no gd cos destroy d goodness in d food. Either mash or sieve ok. U can try use pigeon home food maker cos less then 30sgd. I use tat to scrap n make puree the fruits. Porridge. Fish etc...

Also i soak d rice befor cooking. There is this steamer cum double boiler sold. Use tat v good. Gradually can add diff ingredients. I start with just rice porridge n carrot. Thn sweet potato. Veg. Etc. Aft cook jz b4 eatin i will sieve the porridge n others to male it fine. Mz b quick else cold. If not can put back steam but not too long else will become v watery. ;)

Thanks tsinita & jasq for the reply. Btw, u mean I need to blend the porridge ? If I soak the rice long enough before cooking will do right?

Yes I blend the cooked porridge. It's up to u if u want to do the same, but this what I did for my son. Until his 2 yrs old.

Mine started on rice puree bf gg on porridge. I started him on 8 mths cos premmie so erm corrected age was 7mth. But start small amt. Few spoon n gradually increase. Yupnot necessary to blend. I nv blend. Jz cook till v soft then use the sieve to ensure is fine texture but now no need sieve liao he ok abt 9mths plus. Jz v soft. N use spoon press abit. Trick is to soak rice few hours bf cookin.

Tsinita,

You son only started chewing food after 2yo?

I'm a little worried as my son doesn't like lumpy porridge so I still need to blend. He is 13 months plus now..but he teethed late at 10mths. He only has 4 teeth (2 just came out) at the bottom and 2 on top now..I've been trying to get him used to lumpier food but he gags and hates it then he gets tired of gumming his food and stops eating. So I give up and continue blending.

Yes he started chewing @ 2 yrs old. Until now his still eat w/ soup. W/out soup he cannot eat. Only for rice he needs soup. Other food his ok, he can chew properly.

U need more patient. Slowly slowly he will learn, u try to introduce spaghetti to him slowly. He may like it.

Hi,

I tried blending porridge in the Avent blender and the texture turned out like glue. My boys didn't like it.
We bought a small zojirushi rice cooker since and have been using the porridge mode, which cooks the porridge so well that we just need to stir it to mash the porridge up. For ingredients like fish, carrots and broccoli, I will mash them up with the NUK mash & serve bowl and mix them back into the porridge.

Have attached a pic of the mash & serve bowl. Hope this helps.

My mom teach me to washed the rice n freeze it. It cooked faster than normal n it breaks easily. I sieve my boy's porridge instead of blend it.

U can try basmati rice, non starchy rice. I used organic rice it has to be cooked really well so it's not sticky. I normally fry the rice first w/ingredients and boil into porridge.
