Be careful when using NUK bottles

Hi,

I am a user of NUK PP (wide neck) milk bottles for my baby. Recently, while sterilizing the milk bottle, I realised that one of the milk bottles shrink out of shape (I am using Pigeon steriliser) I emailed immediately to the company to check if there is any safety issue with their milk bottles. They took more than 3 weeks to reply me, and their reply is nothing more than brushing the issue aside. I have totally lost confidence in their products. For mothers using NUK bottles, use at your own risk.

Yes, local. I am just disappointed how NUK Singapore handled this situation. They dont seem concerned.

There is some curvature of the bottle. Its not straight. My wide neck was like that before sterilising. i thought its the design?

Yes, there is slight curvature. But from the pic (though not very clear), the whole bottle dent in beyond the normal curvature. And it is dented in at 3 sides.

This is made of PP, a type of plastics.
Use other type of material like PES or PSU and you will not see this problem.
Previously I used tommee tippee PP bottles n the color changed to brownish. I discarded it. Even though they offered a new replacement but I have no confidence using PP bottles. Changed all to PES bottle.

Thanks for the advise, no idea that there are PES and PPSU bottles. Will change my bottles. I just dont expect NUK customer service to be that lousy. Now they even ask me send the bottle back to them (rather they come and get).

BPA is used in making of polycarbonate material and epoxy. It's not found in other plastic material. So other than polycarbonate (PC) bottles, the rest of the plastic can be easily claimed as BPA free.
We are too obsessed with BPA free products, often neglect the health risk possibility from plastic products.
For your info, Epoxy is also used in the making of canned food lining.

I think it's the quality of these plastic bottles today. I never remember my mum has any of these problems when she was using the old method of boiling the bottles!

I have the same issue with my kids water bottle as well, with two occurrences that bottles deform at water temperature of 60degrees which I usually mix with room temperature water for their school.

My god i have the exact same bottle and my boy can never use any other teat other than nuk latex teat! I have the same issue with avent bottle as well (sorry to side track). After steralising, my avent bottle soften and bent out of shape.

Same. My little girl doesn't use any teat except the NUK ones. She rather go hungry.
No choice - have to throw out each time it bents.
