anyone know what type of soup is good for preggy woman?

1st trimester cannot have too nourishing soups so you can safe with black bean soup, lotus root soup, etc. Avoid watercress, bitter gourd, those cooling type of soup. 2nd trimester onwards some will start taking 'shi san tai bao' soup. Can have chicken essence too (preferably those homemade ones instead of bottled ones).

Usually don't drink those too cooling soups.. usually i take lotus soup, sweet corns soup, ABC soup the best. My mum told me not to drink salted veg soup coz it is cooling. I also don't take watercress, bitter gourd.. but i ate it as normal. Chicken soup is another choice too

Take black bean soup. Can either put it with pork ribs / chicken. It's high in fibre and Chinese people says it replenishes your blood.

I also boiled pumpkin with pork ribs and red dates soup this week. Read that pumpkin is good for pregnancy.
Thanks to the others here for suggesting black bean soup, I will try that soon.

1. Kampung chicken with fresh wild yam (野淮山). You may add some red dates.

2. Threadfin fish (pacific ocean) fillet with black bean and black fungus. Very sweet n no fishy smell.

3. Oxtail (can also use big bones with marrow) brown onion soup. I use organic brown onions or Japanese sweet onions.

4. Prime ribs (must scald well before use) cooked in coconut water.

I usually scald all the meat twice to remove the initial fibre n blood fragments to get clearer soup.

I came across a forum saying that chinese yam (淮山) cannot be taken during pregnancy. Is there any difference in chinese yam and wild yam?
