Any 2008 MTBs staying in the East (Tanjong Rhu and Marine Parade) <IMG SRC="http://www.singaporemoth

hi zanna/jamie,
wana check with you.. during your stay at Gleneagles, did you bring your own sleepwear ? or you used the one the hospital provided ? Easy for breastfeeding ?

Also diapers, they provided the pampers NB ?

catherine
i brought my own sleepwear, easier for breastfeeding. yes, they provide pampers NB & pigeon bb wipes. actually we paid for it lah so remember to bring it back when u discharge keke...

hi Jamie,

ya i'm expecting a boy =)

Catherine,

ya, have to bring own front-button sleepwear or top for easier breastfeeding as their hospital gown are tied at the back ones.. so not so convenient.. =) i saw they do provide diapers so.. think maybe if you want, just bring a couple just in case.

i went to the hospital tour at gleneagles recently.. most imptly is bring

- some nightgowns with front openings,
- maternity pads,
- underwear of cos =) (preferably maternity bras)
- jacket for your husband (as operating room can get very very cold)
- toiletries, if you prefer your own ones (but hospital do provide)
- baby mittens and booties, clothes as hospital do not provide. they only provide the wrapping blanket..

think that's abt all ba... =)

hi kerlyn,

eh, mine also quite dark in colour.. but it's nothing serious =) i also read the breast sizes might go back to normal or stay the same, depends on different mothers lo =)

Good morning all,

Catherine,

As Kelly mentioned, the hospital gown is not breastfeeding friendly, so it's good to bring ur own front-button gown. Other than wat Kelly has mentioned, if u want ur baby to sleep in the same room as u, u might wanna bring along a long sleeve n thicker clothes for ur baby to change into at night cos the room is very cold.. my baby was shivering when she sleep in my room until i changed her to thicker clothes.

They do provide maternity pad also.. but won't be enuff and it's those tie kind not the stick on the panty kind... so better bring ur own. What the nurse there teach me was to use those stick on extra long pad (use for night time during menses) as the base then put the maternity pad (tie kind) on top so no need to tie... then u just change the maternity pad can liao.. the stick on pad only need to change if kena stained...

The pampers NB diaper n wet wipes they provide should be enuff for 2 days.. I don't think u need to bring extra. If not enuff then ask your hubby go buy lor. This way u need not bring so much stuff to the hospital.

Also, when u discharged, ask them for formula milk. It's the pre-mixed kind in glass bottle... just need to screw on the teat provided. This come in handy if u have prob breastfeeding initially at home. Don't feel shy to ask for more.

Kerlyn,

The dark color n large nipple will stay til u stop breastfeeding... ur breast will get bigger also so if you wanna buy nursing bra, it might be good to wait til ur last month or buy 1 size bigger.

Zanna,

wow they provide pre-mixed milk in glass bottles ? sounds good leh.. heehee =p i think will need to get quite a few to last a few days leh if really got problem breastfeeding.. if got prob breastfeeding, can arrange for lactation consultant to come over ur place to help ? or need to visit hospital again? do you have any idea?

u mean need to wear 2 pads in total ar? so we jus buy those stick on kinds ? the tour did advise me to buy those tie ones though..

hehehe so fortunate to know mummies like Zanna and jamie who have delivered in gleneagles before.. =) at least we can feel more prepared .. =D the hospital tour doesn't cover every details =)

Kelly,

Yup, they do provide, it's what the hospital use to feed the babies if the mummies can't breastfeed. The lactation consultant can come ur place or u can go back to the hospital to see them but both ways you gotta pay for it n it's quite exp... tat's y i say make good use of them during ur stay cos it's free =p

I wear 2 lor.. cos maternity pad not long enuff.. it might leak at the back cos we lying down most of the time mah. The stick 1 i use as base and the tie 1s i just put it on top. The tie 1s is thicker so it's better as u'll bleed a lot during the 1st week... some more it's more convenient, no need to keep tying n u tying when go toilet. The stick on 1s tat i use as base no need to change so often, i only change the tie 1s tat i put on top... also the tie 1s are so much cheaper than the stick on so this way can save $$ heehee =p

Also another save $ tip is if u r staying in a 1 bedder n ur hubby intend to stay with u, no need to let them know... cos they charge $65 (if i remember correctly) per nite for the hubby to stay over... just tell them tat ur hubby not staying overnite but he can still stay cos they dun check, especially if ur baby bunk in with u, the nurses won't come into ur room at nite unless u ask for them so they won't know if ur hubby got stay overnight or not.

kelly
zanna has more or less brief u on most of the things which u can expect in GlenE liao.
i also wear 2 pads at a time coz it absorb more & wont overflow lor.
my #1 was by natural birth so i find my bleeding (lochia) is more compare to my #2 which is by c-sec. so u may want to get your own stick on pads coz the ones hospital provide ones are those loop kind. abit troublesome to use

zanna,
so what does the baby wear if you never bring thicker clothes ? How many sets to bring ? I'm having c-sec so I think i would be there for 4 days.

I read on another thread u can ask them for the glass bottles. Got one mummy ended up with like 30 bottles :p So just ask them before discharge ? Can keep how long ah the formula ?

the maternity pad sound serious :p must wear 2. wow. So the sleep wear is it better to get the 1 pc or 2 pc type ?

catherine
the hospital do provide clothes for bb. i only bring 1 set for discharge.
since u r having c-sec, the nurse will put on the loop maternity pad for u & change u, so u dont hv to worry lah. just bring some stick on type for your discharge.
those ready made FM can only use once, if bb cant finish u hv to throw away.

Catherine,

The hospital will let the baby wear the normal short sleeve body suit. The hospital also didn't swaddle the baby cos I was told tat the nursery temp is higher than the rooms cos it is heated. So they dress the baby according to the nursery condition. Only when u ask then they'll swaddle the baby. I brought 2 sets cos I nautral, only stay 2 nights. But I think 2 sets for u wil be enuff cos 1 set can wear 2 nights, u only need the thicker suit at night, day time can wear the hospital body suit and swaddle the baby will be enuff. If u don't have the thicker bodysuit I can pass u my gal's cos she s'pore weather so hot she no need to wear so thick liao.

I believe the mummy asked for empty glass bottles to store expressed breast milk... u can ask for these empty bottles if u intend to express ur breast milk for storage. But I find them take up too much space, I store my breast milk in breast milk storage bags. The formula can keep a few months... they have the expiry date stated on the bottle... but as jamine mentioned, u have to discard once u open them.. even if baby can't finish the bottle. yup u just ask from the nurse when u discharge.

Sleep wear I bought those 1 pc.. cos I find it easier, especially when go toilet... hee =p

zanna
they didnt swaddle your bb? they did for both my 2 kids, tats y i dont hv to put on extra clothes for them. they even hv extra blanket when the nurse bring them in for breastfeeding

zanna,
I got some of the mothercare long sleeves bodysuits for baby. The thickness should be ok ?

GLenE can rent breastpumps if you need to express ? I'm so worried about whether I can manage the breastfeeding :p

jamie,

ya lor.. dunno y they didn't swaddle my gal at 1st... until i ask them to do that then they swaddle her and provide me with a blanket.

Catherine..

wow 30 bottles? can ask for so many ar ? heehehhe.. =p

i was thinking initially that i would also store in storage bags.. but it's only use once then throw, disposable.. save space lo.. but need to keep buying if you breastfeed for long.. my fridge like no space.. haha.. i heard my colleague even went to buy another freezer jus to store breastmilk.. cos she bf for quite long..

ya the formula if you store in freezer can store for a few months.. jus remember to discard the milk if the bb can't finish.. v impt..

i saw the nursery at gleneagles is quite warm, with sunlight.. so i guess no need to bring so many clothes ba.. i jus bought 1 fleece blanket.. hope maybe it's enough if baby comes to my room.. maybe i just layer with more hospital blankets if bb still feel cold =p

Zanna,

i saw in nursery they'll swaddle the bb in blanket leh.. hmm ask u, is it alright for bb to sleep in air-con room? i was thinking during confinement, whether can switch on air-con or not =p

Catherine..

are they cotton material? hmm i think not enough leh.. =p i believe Zanna referring to those thick, fleece suits i think =)

the tour did tell me they loan breastpumps for us to try out during our stay.. means we can't take it home to try.. not sure which brands of breastpumps they using =p

=)

kelly,
you attended the hospital tour ? did you take any courses there ?

ya it's cotton ones. Cos the saleslady at mothercare told me, the fleece one buy already wont have much chance to use. The cotton one is enuf, if still cold then use blanket.

Catherine,

Mothercare long sleeve will be good enuff.. not enuff then swaddle and cover with blanket. not sure Glen can rent breast pump or not but u won't need to pump til after abt 3-4weeks unless u got prob latching on cos breast milk supply won't be alot initially but will slowly increase.

Don't worry too much abt breast feeding, as I say, don't feel shy to ask the consultant for help during ur stay.. and most importantly must be patient and don't give up. I have a lot of prob too initially... end up with sore nipples n bleeding... now i don't latch on... just give expressed beast milk...

Kelly,

i also bought a chest freezer for my breast milk cos my supply is quite a lot n my frigde not enuff space...

I think no prob sleepin in air-con room... cos in hospital also air-con liao... just need to keep bb warm. My bb also sleep air con room some time.. but not everyday cos she always got stuffy nose when sleep in air con room.

Catherine

ya ya i attended the tour =p their prenatal courses is every tues but we not attending cos' timing quite rush for us lo.. so sad.. it's every Tues from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at about $190+ for 4 classes. they are commencing in June. so maybe u can check out if u wan to attend =)

ya i also intend to just layer with blankets lo.. else buy thick suit liao not much chance to use..

Zanna,

ya think really need to invest in a freezer hor..but see how my supply goes =p

hehe ok then.. my hubby also can't sleep without aircon.. cos his room very stuffy if dun on.. he'll be happy to hear this.. hehehe =) but main prob is my MIL who might object.. haiz..

oh ya i jus realise that you're doing without confinement lady issit?

Kelly,

Ya lor.. bo bian.. if u intend to breast feed might need to invest in freezer.. but i bought mine 2nd hand so no need to pay so much... Maybe I can sell you my freezer when the time comes cos I only intend to breast feed til she's 6 month =p

If you have prob with supply can try takin fernugeek... i took tat n now i got over supply =p

y MIL will object? She scare bb catch cold? the only prob i can think of is wait bb too use to air con, next time no air con she can't sleep.

My mum did the confinement for me... how abt u? U engaging a confinement lady?

Zanna,

ooooo hehehe ok ok ! I'll ask you if I'm gonna need 1 freezer =D

fernugeek ? supplement ar ? wow oversupply is better than no supply lo! good for you =) heehee..

oh cos' she say confinement cannot on the air-con, cannot bath, all that lo.. cos' bb will be sleeping with me ma.. =p arrr.. dun wan baby get too used to air-con leh.. haiz.. maybe dun on too cold ba =)

ohh tat's good.. i don't intend to get 1 leh.. quite ex.. my MIL working somemore.. but she help with confinement meals and laundry ba.. i think.. so maybe not getting one.. but i really worry leh.. scared never recover well, next time here pain there pain.. haiz..

Kelly/Catherine,

Fenugreek is a supplement that will help increase breast milk. Can find in GNC, a bottle of 100 capsules selling for $29.50. If u r GNC memeber ur 2nd bottle is 50% off. Need to take 2 cap, 3 times a day.

Kelly,

Ya lor, over supply is good.. cos can store the extra for next time when I wanna stop breast milk... the extra can last her for a while.

I think air con ok lah.. just dun blow direct at u lor... if not so hot how to tahan. I have the fan blowing at me everyday during the confinement =p I also bath 1-2 time a week but with the herbal water lor.

CL now very exp.. abt $2k.. so if ur MIL can help is gd lor.. save the $. Most impt during confinement is eat n rest well... so if ur MIL can do the cooking for u should be good enuff lor.. but u will take care of the bb by urself during confinement? U cannot touch water leh... who will bathe the bb? Must really take care lor... i carry the bb too much during confinement, now i got pain on both my wraist.... doc also can't do anything cos i breast feeding... gotta tahan the pain.

Catherine..

u also not getting one ar? then how you'll be handling all the chores ?? your MIL helping you?

Zanna,

arrrr.. cannot bath the baby myself ar.. sob.. haiz.. =( the cheapest confinement lady i can find so far is 1.8k at least leh.. haiz.. headache..

Kelly,

It depends on u lor... cos ppl say during confinement can't touch water mah so can't bathe bb but if u dun believe tat then it's ok to bathe bb by urself. I did bathe the bb myself some times when my mum not free to do it during my confinement . I don't really follow all the dos and don'ts of confinement.. i still touch water, i also go out to buy bb stuffs, i hav the fan blowing at me all the time... I only follow the eating part strictly, i.e. no cold food, no cooling stuff.

zanna, kelly, catherine

aiyo think i'm the worst here. i bathe & wash my hair everyday during confinement. sleep in aircon room at nite ... i believe in keeping myself clean as i'm handling the bb 24hrs a day wor. my mum did the confinement for me, i didnt engage CL, so ex leh.

my bb sleep in the same room but i adjust the aircon vent so it wont blow directly at him.

Hi kelly,zanna,jamie,

I have a maid at home to do the hsehold chores. My mom/hubby both can cook. MIL say if need her to cook, just let her know but someone must go collect cos she's looking after nephew so cant go out. So my job is mainly to take care of baby. As for the bathing part, I think I won't be using the herbs etc. (Is it ok not to use ? I also dono what the herbs are) I will like jamie be bathing everyday :p So far my mom and hubby dont seem to have any special request on me for the confinement period.

Zanna / Jamie ,

jus tot of an idea.. maybe ask my hubby to bath the bb when he comes home from work.. hopefully he'll help =p bb doesn't need to bath so many times a day right ??? =p jus need to clean his private parts properly after urine and poo..

haha.. alamak.. i heard so many ppl also saying cannot touch water, cannot bath cannot wash hair.. but i guess hard not to touch leh esp wash hair.. my colleague said got those powder for you to 'dry-wash' hair ? haha dunno how it works actually.. maybe i'll try ask my colleague more abt this..

catherine
the herbs which u can get fr chinese medical shop, are supposed to warm our body esp after birth. i didnt use for my daily shower, only used twice coz my mum already bought liao

Kelly,

If ur hubby can help will be good. I bathe my bb every morning and wipe her down at night b4 puttin her to bed.

The chinese medical hall got sell those herbal bath pack for confinement. Just boil it in water and use the water to bath... I use that to bath 2 times a week during my confinement and I use boiled water to wipe down everyday... I guess the reason cannot touch water is worry the water go into ur body then u will have aches when u r older.

By the way, do u intend to do post natal massage?

kelly
the hair powder doesnt work one lah, think will only make your hair more oily haha...

bb dont need to bathe so many times a day. i only bathe him once in the morning & clean him in the evening.

Catherine..

ooooo so won't be so bad for us doing without confinement lady ba ! =D good for you abt ur mom, my MIL quite traditional.. =)

try to use the herbs to bath lo.. much better than using tap water ba.. =) get from chinese medicine shops can liao =) think can jus say for confinement use, they should know what to put in =p

Zanna,

ya ya i intend to do post natal massage, it's a must i think! =D but haven't book one yet.. still quite long =)

Jamie,

hahaha.. really ar.. alamak.. headache.. =p

Kelly,

The herbal pack is already pre-packed.. yup, just tell the chinese medical hall for confinement use they will know.

Post natal massage not sure a must or not but it worksfor me... i lost all my preg weight after the 7 session.. so happy.. hee... if u go for those popular 1s must book early leh.. cos usuallty they kena advance booking very early.

Jamie,

Which playgym u go to?

Zanna,

oooooo.. so good! can lose weight through post-natal massage ar? wow.. good for you then! i tot it's mainly to remove wind or heal our uterus or something like tat.. ohh i see, ok! i'll try and find one if i can now =)

=)

Kelly,

It's to remove wind and water that's retain in your body... also to make the uterus shrink back to pre-preg size... the wt lost is due to the water tat's in the body being expel out after the massage.. tat's wat i was told

zanna
so envy u leh, already gone back your pre-preggy weight. i still hv a long way to go man! my hip & thighs are still big. i dont even dare to think if i can go back to my pre-preggy size, as long as i dont look pregnant i happy liao.

i brought my ger to JWT kids gym since she's 4mths old, but stop eversince i'm preggy. actually plan to put her back there again but it will clash with her preschool program so now only bring her to their open gym lor.

kelly,
Ya my mom very modern one
happy.gif
and my MIL well .. she's quite modern too. But cos I dont live with her so ok la. I heard from other mummies if you use the herbs, it's better to get a new pot cos your existing pots may have oil residues etc ..

Re: post natal massage
I haven't book mine yet too. How early must we book ? Cos mine is c-sec when then can do the massage ?

Zanna..

oh i see =) oh ya abt the herbal bath, can we jus boil a kettle full and then fill up with tap water to make it enough for bathing ? or do we wipe ourselves using jus the kettle of water ? or need to boil a few kettles to make up a tub ? actually dunno how to go abt doing it.. haha..

Catherine..

hehe i dunno leh.. maybe we can try calling up and compare prices now first.. if possible jus book when we can find one tat suits us? not sure abt c-sec though, and i think you should check with your doc/gynae regarding post-natal massage too.. ask him when and whether you can do it.. =)

catherine
u are lucky that both your mum & MIL are those modern ones. mine is nt tat modern but i dont care lah still bathe everyday keke...

post natal massage
i did mine 3 weeks after birth (c-sec). it actually depends on your therapist, u can actually book first, after u deliver then confirmed a date.

kelly
herbal bath
wat i did was just boil a kettle & top up with water enough for bathing, but will still run through a final round with just water after the herbal bath.

Jamie,

I think cos I never put on much wt during pregancy tat's y i can lose all the wt so fast... My gynae told tat cos I total breast feed tat's y I can lost wt so fast...but my hip also bigger liao... can't fit into some of my bottoms =(

where's JWT? Is it good? I'm actually thinking of bringing my gal when she's 3 month... heard it's good for the development.

Kelly,

For me, for wiping, I used boil water can liao... no need to use the herbal bath... the herbal bath is use for bathing.. my mum will boil 1 big pot, enuff for me to take a bath without adding tap water. And like Catherine say, must use new pot cos old pot not clean.

For post natal massage, I book mine 4 months in advanced =p kia su.. scare wait can't get the massage lady I wanted. You just call the massage lady and let her know ur EDD and after u deliver, just give them a call to arrange the date to start.

zanna
i think u belong to those slim type group lah tats y didnt put on much weight, unlike me. i put on almost 20kg leh!
sad.gif

yes, breastfeeding does make u lose weight faster, but i already stop due to low supply lor.

JWT have 3 branches : UE Sq, Eastgate & Kallang leisure pk (newly open). personally i like their program & their environment. will bring my #2 when he's 4mths old coz thats the min. age group. u can check out their webby for more info
http://www.jwtkids-singapore.com/index.html

jamie,

not really slim lah.. i'm those who put on wt easily wan... but my gynae was very strict with my wt gain so I watch my diet and exercise a lot during my preg. Now I worry if I stop breast feeding I'll put on wt again...

U go to the Eastgate branch? I stay just oppo eastgate, behind the katong laksa... maybe I'll bring her there when she's 4 month

zanna
i used to bring my ger to UE Sq coz their schedule suits me. but i brought her to Kallang one yesterday coz nearer my place, although its the smallest among the 3.
hey i dont mind eastgate branch, quite big also. maybe we can go together when our bb turns 4 mths? my ger's preschool is in katong shopping center, very near u wor

zanna
u stay in those landed or the new apt? my sis has been bringing my ger for a swim over the weekends as her friend stay in the apt.

Jamie,

yup, we can arrange to go together.. at least we got company... =)

I stay in an apt, just behing katong laksa, oppo the Hindu Temple. Which apt ur sis go to?
