Advice on maternity and newborn insurance

Hi there,
I'm currently pregnant and am unable to find any insurance which covers a female already pregnant... does anyone know of any policy which covers maternity risks and newborn (esp. if need to stay in neonatal ward) from birth?
I am worried because I am carrying twins, any advice if appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi there, doubt there's anything that covers maternity if u r already preggie. I know there r some UK insurance companies that covers maternity & newborn but only starts covering from 10th or 12th month from insurance inception date.

Hello Juliet08,
Thanks for the information, you are right, none of the companies I contacted seem to want to cover my current pregnancy. I pray things go well ...

AIA has a plan " Woman of Wisdom"
It covers complications that arises during pregnancy.

HOWEVER, the maternity benefits will only be in-force 1 year after policy in force.
Thus, sadly not applicable for you.

Nontheless, you may consider this plan, should you intend to plan for more children.

Hello,

Hi mommies,
Just wondering for those familiar with insurance... I had a high-risk pregnancy last year and both baby and I were hospitalised. She was in the NICU for a month. :-(

Thankfully Baby is OK now but it costs me an arm and a leg as I gave birth in a private hospital and we didn't have insurance. My Incomeshield plan also did not cover my pregnancy complications as there was a waiting period..

I'm hoping to plan for #2 later this year but am terrified that things may go wrong again. Any advice what kind of pregnancy insurance i can get for myself and baby? I only know of QBE's but do not like their terms and conditions which state that i must give birth between month 9-12.

dear all mums-to-be,

I'm glad to share with you a piece of great news! I just met up with my adviser and she told me that Prudential has a new protection cum savings plan for my baby and me!

Its the first in the market to ensure guaranteed protection for me and my baby! I'm so excited about it!

On top of the protection, I would also get to give my girl a headstart in her education savings! The savings plan which will start immediately to let the money roll and not wait till she is 60days old.

I'm really glad to be able to share this information with you. Do drop my a message at [email protected] if you would like to know more. I will get my adviser to contact you.
I can assure you that she is a very warm and understanding person. :)

you can take a look at their site:

CHEERS!

Hi all,

Am a DTB and an Executive Financial Consultant from Pru.
So far I have had more than 10 couples sign up with me for PruFirst Gift(A plan that covers both mommy and baby during pregnancy). Even did a claim, thankfully the condition was not serious.

Got PruFirst Gift for my wife and baby too.
Baby EDD is 25/03/11 " ) Eagerly awaiting.

MTBs are allowed to pick up the plan between the 18th and 32nd week of Pregnancy. Plans covers mommy for 3 years and baby for life.

Any MTB or DTB interested can PM me.

Hi,
If not wrong, the mummy plan which is suppose to cover for 3 years, we suppose to pay $320 x 3 years which is total $960 at 1 payment. Is that correct?

hi angelwink35,

PruFirst Gift consists of PruMum2Be and PruLink Protection Acct.

PruMum2Be - Covers 7 most common pregnancy complications and 17 most common congenital abnormalities, also death of mummy or foetus.
PruLink Protection Acct - Life Plan covering Mummy for death and total permanent disability then upon Birth baby for death, total permanent disability and critical illness Regardless of health condition upon birth.

PruMum2Be is the one that cost $320 (One time for all 3+ years of coverage) One time premium can be higher at $390 for age next birthday 36.

PruLink Protection Acct is $100/mth for $100k, $200/mth for $200k and $300/mth for $300k coverage as above. There is no lock in period, plan can be stopped anytime.

You can contact me at 9790 8177 for a meet up and I will explain the plan and benefits to you further, no obligations of course " ) else drop me an sms of your number and I will call you to arrange.

Hi Jovin
If the baby is given birth at week 28 and needs to be in ICU. Does PruMum2Be covers the bills?
Must we buy PruLink Protection Acct?

EA

hi EA,

PruLink Protection Acct(PPA) has been upgraded to PruLink Protection Plus Acct(3PA) which has more fund allocation in the 3rd year of the plan. Therefore there is more value for clients. " )

PruFirst Gift is a package so when we sign up we pick up both PruMum2Be and PruLink Protection Plus Acct(3PA).
PruMum2Be is not sold separately.

We can however buy PruLink Protection Plus Acct(3PA). by itself but only after baby is one month old and subject to medical underwriting, whereas in PruFirst Gift coverage in 3PA is transferred automatically to baby without medical underwriting.(which means baby is covered for death/total permanent disability and critical illness even if baby is born with certain health conditions) That is one of the biggest reasons why I got my wife to sign up.

Lastly to answer your question, PruMum2Be pays for Hospital Care Benefit of $100/day up to $2,500 for 3 conditions.
One of which is Premature birth requiring neonatal ICU.

Drop me an SMS at the number above if you still have queries.

Almist

Hi Almist
Thank you for your detailed explanation.
I am only looking for a insurance to cover the expectant mother against pregnancy complication.
i.e premature birth as ICU can cost more than $30,000
is there any thing like that?

Hi EA,

From the insurance plans that I know, there are no insurance that just cover the expectant mother against pregancy complication.

At the present, the plan that provide the most coverage for expectant mothers is Mum's Advantage Plus from AXA. You can find out more about the plan at the link below.

Hope it helps.
