(2012/05) May 2012

Just went Taka bought $150 worth of Huggies and got the free vtech baby Crawl and Learn Bright Lights Ball. Some more Taka can do free delivery!but schedule till 27th Aug

YHO, I got my lecithin from GNC.

Yumi, I take 3 pills of lecithin a day.

Regarding calming crying baby, I tried 2 methods which I read online and it kinda worked. One is making the shhh sound and another is doing the squat when carrying bb. Quite xiong though, but good exercise! My mil went out tdy so I was taking care of bb all by myself. Really no stamina and very very tiring, but I'm really happy to spend alone time to bond with bb and am proud of myself to be able to survive the day. However, it also makes me appreciate my mil more.

I also just started taking the sacred tea which I bought from SMF seller. Taste quite horrid though cos I'm not a fan of spices. Will persevere and let u gals know if it works
happy.gif

Esteelin, u continued taking fenugreek when u were drinking the tea? I worried abt overdosing! Hahaha

Actually according to my LC, baby demand for milk will decrease after 3m and dramatically after 6m (weaning), so our body will auto produce less at these milestones. We all should be hitting 3m in aug!

Good morning Mummies, been busy the last few days. We changed our aircon last week and hence we have to move to my in-laws place for a week. My baby tends to take shorter nap when we were there cos everybody wants to carry him. Last night, we finally moved back to our own rat hole. There is still a lot of cleaning up and unpacking to do.

I took the sacred tea before but I stopped after drinking 1 pkt. I dun really like the taste and I find it quite troublesome to prepare. My friend recommended me to drink Organic Mother's Milk tea, she personally finds it very effective. I din try it yet cos I'm still on mortillium and fenugreek.

I suspect I have thrush too but not certain. I have a bit of whitish skin on my nipple and I do expect slight pain occasionally. So far my baby's tongue is still ok. Is it thrush?

Really?! Then this will b good news for us! No need to worry ss not enough for following weeks. But my gal on 11 weeks now n she just increase her milk 15ml each feed, this make me worry not enough for future :p

Hi rabbitz - seafood can be consumed after 3 months (100 days). I didn't know and had some prawns after the 1st month. Now abstaining but hopefully nothing will go wrong

Gracie, I was desperate to up my ss quickly so took both, but I know the sacred tea also contain fenugreek. So far not much side effects except regular bowel movement and soft stools, which I thought was good.

Rabbitz, I've started eating prawns already and even had sashimi last week. I thought as long as the wound has healed can eat already?

Hi all

New to this group. Gave birth to baby girl on 21 May. She's taking EBM almost exclusively. Latches her on maybe once or twice a day, but not for the full feed. Sometimes she doesn't finish her milk in one go, but left 30-50ml and since it's sat in the bottle so long, I don't want to give it to her, so I latch her on.

I actually prefer to latch her on but she gets nipple confusion and "forgets" how to drink from the bottle if I latch her on too often. It then becomes difficult for others to help feed her. So no choice I have to feed her EBM, or else I can't leave her at home with my hubby or leave her with my mum/MIL if needed.

I express about 7 times a day. Daytime every 3h, and can get about 150ml each time. Baby drinks about 125ml. Baby now sleeps through the night, so I don't wake up in the middle of the night either. So the first express in the morning I can get a lot, around 250ml.

Didn't know that it's not recommended to sterilise our pump and parts after every pump. I've been doing that all this while! Thought the instructions say that's what we should do?

Mummies who are trying to increase ss are feeding baby on both BM and FM? Or trying to increase to store more frozen milk for future use?

I'm feeding my baby both EBM & FM. My ss didn't improve much even after trying different soup. I feed whatever I got so there's nothing left to store for future. @11+ weeks my son still taking 100-120 ml.

His neck is still soft n he hates tummy time. I put him on his tummy after bath and he would cry or make noise after a while. Or if his hand is near by he would just eat it.

He still doesn't know how to play with toys yet.

Hw would wake up at around 12,3,6 for milk at night. I really hope he could sleep through. How do we train them apart from dream feeding? Pls share if you use different methods. TIA

How long we store ebm in fridge for baby everyday consumption? Read from sites saying 3 days, some 5 days. Which is of more reliable source? Ive got too much supply for my gal, shes now taking the ebm on 27 Jul, was wondering if its too long. Also have store quite substantial amount in freezer. Dont have space for more milk

Increase milk ss,
Mb shd try eating the fenugreek seeds directly? It worked quite fast for me. 1-2 days and engorgement occurs in shorter time. Side effects are mild odor which will disappear in a week. Let's jia you with the pumping before going back to work.

Yeah! All our bb turning 3 mths soon = possibly more family outings. Dull to stay home for so long.

To prevent thrush, just clean your nipples with wet towel after each latch on? Also clean bb's tongue once every 2 days with soft wet towel.

Better not take any raw seafood till bb > 3 mths. I have craving for sashimi too -_- eat some shd be alright.

I've been bringing baby out very often. Hubby & I will bring her everywhere we want to go. Restaurants, coffeeshops, shopping centres, parks, chalet, club, etc. and also baby spa for swimmng. Mostly by car but mrt/public bus sometimes. Don't think have to wait till 3 months? But I guess going out will become easier as she grows older.

I don't give my EBM stored in the fridge more than a day. Anyway have more than enough, so no reason to give her "old" milk. She usually drinks the "freshest" batch unless if I can't express coz not at home.

My girl juz suddenly begin to sleep through the night last week, after one day when hubby n I went pak tor n left her with my mum for the day. My aunties, cousin, brother & his gf played with her all day and she also didn't sleep after we went to get her. Only slept at 10+ after a feed at night. And the next time she asked for milk was 7+ the next morning! Maybe she was too tired to wake up for milk n after that she probably discovered that it's actually possible to sleep v long with no disturbance. She's like her mum & dad who prefers to sleep than to eat!

I guess u can try keeping baby occupied n awake during the day for a few days so baby tired n sleep more at night. Might get used to it n decide to sleep through.

Hi mummies, how many feeds are you giving to your baby? I am feeding edm at every 4 hours. And my baby s skipping feeding at night. So in total, he is drinking only 5 times a day. Each feed is about 130ml to 150ml. Not too sure if he is drinking too little as I know some mummies are feeding 8 times a day.

My gal week 10 now. I feed her 3 hours interval with 100-130ml, normally wil have 5-6 times per day n no night feed. She able to sleep through until 8-10am :p
I think ur feeding amount should b normal ;)

I think it's the total amt of milk in a day n not the number of feeds. I also don't feed at night coz baby sleeping. I practise demand feeding n except for the dream feed on some days coz bb ate too early before sleeping (8/9pm) to last the whole nite. My bb is 4.7kg n drinks abt 6 or 7 times a day n abt 120ml each time.

I think what ur bb drinks is sufficient
happy.gif

My headache is that my bb drinks so slow! Most feeds can take 1h or more! She will drink a bit stop a while, start stop start stop, not sure distracted by what. So almost my whole day is spent feeding, expressing, washing bottles/steriliser n in btn I squeeze in my own meals n doing bb's laundry. Hardly any time for other chores. Any tips on how to make bb drink faster? It's not the teat size coz I tried changing a bigger one n she couldn't handle the flow.

And do u girls know of anyone who provide ironing services? I have so much clothes piled up, accumulated since pregnancy days, n now I can't find any time to do any ironing!

do your babies always raise their clenched fist? what does that mean to them? sometimes, baby does that til he falls asleep. LOL!

my baby sometimes has difficulty "shooting" the nipple to his tongue when i bottle feed him. and i thought that some babies can be fed even while sleeping.

rabbitz - I bottle-feed my girl 6x per day. 4x BM and 2x FM. Gotta feed at least once or twice FM per day or else cannot finish the FM in one month.

I just had a cup of sacred tea. The taste is horrid.

ak - so envious of your milk supply. With regards to Refrigerated EBM, most websites recommend only 48 hrs but I have read some which said 8 - 10 days too.

groundpepper: hmm, I think there is no specific 'training' for them to sleep through the night, sometimes the sleep through will just happen! some mummies will feed plain water so that the baby knows they will be drinking plain water so they dont wake up anymore..you can try..i wanted to try but my baby end up sleeping quite soundly through the night..last feed usually at about 11plus or midnight then can wake up everyday at ard 7.30am..he sleeps abt 8pm lately..

sardonyx: raise clenched fist? hmm may be just a normal reflex? if it doesnt hurt them, then should be ok right?

For mums who latch at night. How often does your bb feeds? My girl feeds abt 2.5 - 3 hourly.

Btw how do we know if breast is fully emptied from latching? The problem is my girl only takes 1 breast per feed

Sardonyx: sometimes my boy will straighten his hands with clench fist as well. I just thought its quite normal for babies to do that.

My boy will feed and sleep at around 8.30pm and he wakes up at 5.30am for milk. How can I delay his feed to 7.30am which is the time he wakes up???

Maybe I know how long u need to latch baby??? My boy usually struggle and loses his grib within 10mins.

Hui Yuin, u pump 3hr is it counting by the hour like 9am, 12noon etc or from the time u stop pumping and count 3hrs?

3h counting fm the time I start. Until I go to bed.

Whether latch on or bottle feed, my girl can feed 1h. V tiring.

I was thinking of someone who does ironing for people at their homes, is there such a service? I'm aware those who count by per piece, collect n deliver ones v expensive. But those part time maid ones only iron a few each time. Not enough for me. I'd like a few sessions of dedicated ironing services.

I've also just received the tea yesterday and made a cup to try, it smells very herbal but still drinkable.
Currently I'm only expressing once a day thus will be trying tomorrow to increase the frequency and also drinking the tea. Hope that my supply will come back.

Mummies, anyone interested in Similac total comfort stage 1? It is a 900g tin n I only scoop once, 60ml. I m giving it away for free, PM me if keen. Bought it for my boy who recently refused his usual milk but he didn't like it.

Babies who are slping thru the night, How many hours do they sleep in the day? And what time is their naps? Is it consistent?

Hi mummies, sorry to interrupt.

I am an April mummy. I have a brand new Avent steamer blender bought earlier this year. And I received another as gift. I bought it for $199 and am letting it go at $150.

If you are interested, please contact me via email [email protected].

Thanks and all the best

I don't really keep track of when my bb naps. She still falls asleep after every feed but wakes up sooner to wait for next feed. My gal only started sleeping through the night last Tue. I'm still trying to establish a routine. But I've feeding on demand all the while so it's a bit hard.

Mummies, does both your breasts produce equal amt of milk when u pump? My right side only produce one to two third of my left breast

Not equal. My left produces lesser than right...
Going back to work soon.. Wonder how to manage expressing as office no suitable room for it.. Intend to do it in a toilet and once in office (best twice but dunno if boss will be unhappy)..
Hope can tahan 6 hrs (now I need to express at least once every 4hrs, if not, will feel uncomfy...)

Hi CK, same shoes as you. When I go bk to work, no suitable place to pump also. I intend to pump only twice thou. For my elder son I bf till 7 months. Complementing with fm all the while. This time round going bk to work when bb abt 4 months. Dunno if I can preserve

My right usually produces only half of my left, n it takes longer for the let-down.

I also intend to express at work. Asking my colleague to help find a suitable room. Probably use a meeting room which is seldom used n lock fm inside.

I can last 5-6h comfortably w/o expressing, normally when I go out. I don't express in the middle of the nite either since bb doesn't wake up. But when wake up (after about 7-8h interval) will be v engorged n uncomfortable.

My left and right usually same amount, unless there's a blockage. Therefore when it's different, I know one side is not fully emptied.

Morning Mummies!

I like to thank those mummies who recommended dream feeding. I tried it out for 2 nights and it works for my boy. I put him to bed at 8pm after his feed and I gave him another 120ml of fm at 10.30pm. He managed to sleep through till 7am.

My boy had a bout of bronchiolitis and had his first trip to the PD for being sick.. Doc said the virus is active now, mummies be careful about bringing your little ones to crowded places or be near anyone who has a cold or cough ya.. Really poor thing, he is too young to know how to handle his mucus n has difficulty breathing.. Got to watch him day n night now..

Hi little dotty so sorry to hear that your little boy has to go through this. You take care too.

Thanks for sharing that the virus is active.

Mummies who are using medela pumps >

When do you normally replace the parts? Just replace the connectors or need to replace the entire funnel? I'm using pump in style advance (PISA).

littledotty,

sorry to hear your baby is sick. hope he get well soon. how you know your baby is sick? ie, what is the symptom?

my boy always have this noisy breathing like a lot of phlegm or mucus in his nose or throat, sneezing, etc. and today, we unwittingly got caught in rain...

Unequal for me too. Right more than left. Trying to balance by returning to left side whenever there is let down. So left side will produce more and size also balanced. Hee!

I pumped in the office toilet for #1 at 10am, 3-4pm before I leave the office. Each time 30-45mins. My colleagues are understanding. And I kept pigeon cooler bag in staff freezer. Always changed into nursing bra during pump as spare and also a nappy to put on lap to prevent stains on workpants.

Best to let boss know u intend to nurse and that you need timeout to do so. Of course, try to come in earlier after lunch or in the mornings. Am sure your boss will be supportive. I will place a caricature of a cow when I am away to pump. A little humor helps
happy.gif
jia you!

Littledotty,
How's your boy now? Better already? Continue to give milk cos got all the good stuff to fight the infections.

Yup, heard the virus is going around. 2 friends' kids - 4 yr old and 3 month old - also got it recently. Think we better keep our babies home this period.

Good health to all mummies and our little precious ones!
