(2012/01) Jan 2012

i have friends who's birthday are ard xmas week.
They always complain that no one remembers their birthday. Xmas is too important. Too many parties. Haha...

Carpe, just found ut ytd taht my EDD is 13 Jan,

dh74 - thanks for all the info. How many kids do you have? How old are they? Oh btw we are working pretty nearby.

dh74: Thanks for explaining.
happy.gif

(X): Haha, ask them to come to celebrate in your hospital room... keke... Kidding!

Carpe - no gd, she didn't sound positive. It could be something is not right and she is not telling me or she is just a negative-person. I have booked an appt with Adrian on 4 June, yet to meet him.

Coyote,
i feel ur anxiety. Maybe... this is their way of expectation management.

Just continue to take care and eat well.

Coyote: I have a 14 month old boy, currently taken care by wifey who recently quit to be SAHM. She just tested positive, we will be visiting gynae + scan next week. Oh so u r working nearby. I will keep a lookout, when heading for lunch ....hehe

Ms Carp Diem: No prob. Glad to be able to share.

Hi X: My EDD also same a yours 11 Jan!
happy.gif
but am going to change to Dr Tham next week, to have a more accurate one..

Coyote: Hang in there... you will be ok. Take care.

From what dh74 shares, I was just thinking it'll be nice for all the SAHMs who stay close to each other to form a support group together, perhaps meet for cheap teas periodically in easily accessible, child-friendly places. I think having consistent adult company and support is important.

dh74- Your wife must have a short labour in the labour ward that why only less than $1.5K cash the rest is medisave right. And the BB no jaundice thats why 2 days stay only. If working in GOVT service more cheaper a friend of mine paid $500 only in A1 stay.

The most expensive charge will be in Labour ward so if we have longer battle in the labour ward the more charges we have to pay. Ward charges are standard and can be well covered by medisave.

My baby premature got to go for double light treatment. Even born huge but the lung not yet ready to meet the world. 6 days in hospital than finally the jaundice went down and he was discharge on Hubby birthday.

Most mummies tat go private, had done their homework well, so the gynae normally will adviced them only when contraction kicks in and timing is getting closer closer than check in. So must die die asked tips from the gynea.

Some mummies fast labour even before gynae could come in they deliver the baby upon check in, than gynae just come for stitching while the midwifes deliver the baby.

Different body different pain resistance.

So choose the gynae that you most comfortable so that the journey will be nice and smooth.

coyote - hugs, i hope everything turns out well.

Ms Carpe Diem (mscarpediem) - its my gyne's clinic policy to wait till week 8 for 1st visit. I guess they have too many patients/want to make sure that the pregnancy is more stable before the appnt? Of cos if its a risky case, like for mommies who had prior MC, they would see the mommies earlier.

Meanwhile, I am still talking my BBT (body basal temp) - as long as the temp is elevated for the 1st trimester, then pregnancy should be progressing fine. Also just bought another pregnancy test kit from Watsons to take between now & my gyne visit!

X - let me check if iHerb has what i want & will PM you to share the shipping cost. Thanks

And yes, am still living at the same place.

dh74 - are u the only daddy here?
happy.gif
Its nice to have fathers in the thread for the guy's point of view.

steffy - I think i am slightly hungrier than normal - then again i am always hungry! - but have to be careful not to put on too much weight. My sis is preggers too (5+ months now) & she has been eating double portions for all meals! My gyne is ultra strict - her targets for all pregnancies is 10-12kg max & the one time i gained more than 2kg that month, i got scolded!

On daddies preferring girls & mommies boys - both hubby & i would prefer a boy! Of cos, at the end of the day, as long as baby is healthy its all that matters...but i love how boys are hardy. Also cos Kieran has alot of clothes & if we have a girl, we won't have any space for all her dresses/hairclips etc!

Millie's mum - wah... Seems like our children same same. But my dd is on 28 feb... If this goes well, i might b a feb 2012 mommy thou.. Hehe

On the contrary, i feel rather full these days. Eats littke n im like enough. Juz funny bloated feeling in the tummy, tgr same feeling i had with my 1st pregnancy. I do not think il be going to gynae so soon. Perhaps in the 3rd mths or so. Meanwhile, i shall eat folic pills. The worse is to stop coffee n less tea....thts rather hard...hehe

Hi millie

Im at blk 989D, close to u.

coyote: dont worry too much. the gynae only saw s sac but not heart beat? wait for the next scan and the hearbeat might be there already.

some embryos developed a bit slower, so dont worry too much. sleep well n eat well till the next appt.

Thanks all, I am not defeated. Still eating, resting and hoping well. We couldn't wait, even bought a few baby rompers already. I know is too early but we just cannot help it..hahaha...let us be as long as we are happy.

tute-yes, only a sac w/o hb.

dh74- very hard for you to spot me lah, I am near but not super near. I work in the Bio area.

Wow, this thread is moving fast!

Coyote: how are you feeling?

Any working mothers here? I am feeling the same symptoms as veronica, super tired... My gynae is cute, she asks me to lie on bed and don't go work if stressful :p

ktcc, thanks for asking. I am ok, occasionally feeling pressure/pain. But no spotting. Eating more frequently. And keep beoing pregnant women on the street...hahaha

coyote: you are beoing pregnant women while i am beoing babies in prams hahah

yah, don't break news yet, wait a few weeks later, but your no waistline dress will give you away soon!

Jaundice - No such thing as food cause the bb to be yellow. All food we eat will be filter out the colour naturally. Placenta only takes in the nutrients and not the colour. Read below for more knowledge cause Angmoh never have food pantangs like us Asian.. Too many pantangs make bb more malnutrtion.

Risk Factors

Premature births – A premature baby’s liver may not be as well developed to quickly remove the bilirubin from the bloodstream as full term babies.

Blood group – If the mother’s blood group is different from the baby’s, the antibodies from the mother may attack the baby’s blood cells and cause them to break down more quickly.

Breast-feeding – Breastfeeding jaundice has been found in babies who are completely breastfed and who develop jaundice with no other apparent causes. It often depends on how hydrated the baby is. Sufficient milk supply to the baby, with breastfeeding on demand, will usually reduce this risk. Babies who are exclusively breast-fed may develop jaundice lasting for up to three months. Breastfeeding jaundice is not harmful to the baby; you may continue to breast feed your baby. It is not necessary to stop breastfeeding if the diagnosis of breast milk jaundice has been made and other causes for prolonged jaundice have been excluded.

Primary risk factors:
Risk factors are premature births and if the blood type of baby is different from the mother’s.

Prevention
n most cases, jaundice is not preventable. Sufficient milk will keep your baby well hydrated and reduce the risk of jaundice. The baby should not be ‘sunned’ as there is no evidence of benefit; instead, it can be harmful to the newborn baby (see Treatment)

Wow, thread is moving fast, maybe cos its a Friday. Just back from some meetings & so many new posts.

Veronica - hang in there, MS etc are usually most severe in the 1st trimester...then u will feel better again!

X - still no idea, cos there are so many mommies in FB...but you have been to my place for the Xmas 2008 gathering i guess?
happy.gif
Anyway will enable my PM function.

Ktcc - Yes, am working! I think at least 50% of the mommies here are too, hence they are online all the time?
happy.gif

Jaundice - don't think this would be severe for most instances? Kieran had mild jaundice for a few days & it went away. Most don't need special treatment.

Btw, are u ladies (and gentleman) on FB? I don't know how you gals can keep up with this thread & be working at the same time! hehe...If you are, add me cos I read my FB more than this thread.

TTCX- Wow u paid $195 ...

I went to my gynae in JB, cause now still small and prefer to have 2 opinions rather than 1.

I paid RM60, incl a scan, gynae consultation and folics plus calcium. Dont need appointment just walk in will do. Near to Bestmart.

My next appointment will be 24th May, but i think hubby not free to sent so i will go on weekends end of May or this coming weekends which ever dates hubby is free.

My 3rd also i follow up on both Singapore and Malaysia gynae. Just incase i deliver in JB so i standby a gynae in JB also.

Thanks mummies! It's a relief to know that everything seems to be on track.

Milliesmum: I'm hoping to hv a girl as I already hv an active boy. It would b nice to go shopping for girls stuff, so pretty.

Ktcc: I'm a working mum too n I dread gg to work because of the ms n tiredness. My gynea offered hospitalization leave but I think I'll keep that option for last tri. My last pregnancy I suffered In last tri w painfully swollen feet. Hope this time not so bad.

Maybe we can do a facebook for January 2012 babies.. Meanwhile can add me at facebook [email protected]

The July mummy 2010 always have gathering and birthday celebration together, playdates and outing also...

opps forgot to add my FB addy. Look under Li-May to add me

coyote - prices have gone up i guess. Most gynes are pay-per-visit until about 4/5 months then consultation gets bundled into a package. Having a baby is not cheap!
