hi charmaine, dont knw whether im wrong or right. i went to google and found out duphaston causes nausea and many pregnancy symptoms.. but it is not due to the medicine itself. duphaston is a hormone replacement.. more hormone = more symptoms.. thats why many find that when taking hormone replacement medicine their preg symptoms are amplified further.. not a good feeling for some.. i cannot take it already and from yesterday i stop taking it.

I too just visited my gynae this morning, i am 5 weeks 2 day, couldn't see my bb's heart beat yet. My gynae said i'm still in early pregnancy, can only see the pregnancy sac, hehe, and my EDD is 10 Feb 10.



Btw, just to check with you, which hospital is your gynae from? And how much did you pay for this visit? I paid for $255 this morning and i found that a little bit too expensive. If i were to pay this amount on every visit, i wonder if i can afford [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/sad.gif]

My gynae is Dr Fong Yang. I see him at Paragon. My total bills for today is $280+. $50 consultation, $70 ultrasound, $58 for Utrogestan and 6 ampules of progestrone. My hormones is super low, that's y have to jabs on alternate days.

I am seeing Dr See Toh from Gleneagles.

Today i only had Ultrascan and consultation, no medication or any vitamin. I just wonder normally my consultation + scanning doesn't cost so much, but how much this time is a lot. i didn't ask for breakdown of the cost (i forgot), maybe i can check with the nurse on this Monday.

Thanks alot for your info. No wonder I was wondering why my nausea cm so fast when I'm 4wk preg. Today will be my last dosage. Hope this nausea will go away.

for this i am not sure coz all the while my gynae's receipts did show the breakdown. If u r uncomfortable with the payment u may call the clinic to request for breakdown or change gynae. I would suggest u to check with the nurse on roughly how much will it cost u to see ur gynae for every visit. Hope it helps.

 
Just visited my gynae for the first time today. Managed to squeeze in my appointment cos im travelling this coming week.



Mine was supposed to be 6 weeks by date but he said mine is still very tiny so its about 4 weeks. He said next appointment then can see the heartbeat.



When i saw the bill, i kind of got a shock. Total $229. Consultation $100, Scan $80, Vitamins $30+.



Anyway, I think its worth the money cos the gynae is a very popular one

My gynae clinic normally doesn't provide breakdown of cost unless we requested. I was actually quite shocked when the nurse told me the amount, but as i couldn't remember on the spot the normal cost (consultation, scanning, etc) that i paid, hence i didn't say much. When i reached home and checked on my previous receipt, the consulation is normally $50 and scanning is $100, that means i was charged $105 more yesterday. Yes, i will call them on Monday to request for the breakdown of cost, and if this is roughly the cost i need to pay for my every visit from now onwards, i will change gynae.

Sharing the breakdown of my bill. This was my gynae for my 1st child.



Consultation - $70

Lab Test - $15 (was giddy so tested my blood)

Medicine/Multi-Vit - $21



Total w gst - $113.42



Gynae got scan my bb but was never charge for it.



Btw, when i'm 4weeks preg, i went to consult a different gynae which is nearer to my hse and bill amount was $100.82. Includes consultation, med and gst. This gynae also never charged me the scan fee. I thot because he couldn't find the sac coz i'm only 4wks preg so probably sac too small so he never charge me for the scan

btw a friend recently gave birth at KKH and her gyn was on leave so another gyn see her and she had C section.



Just wondering.. seems like Dr Lawrence Ang is so popular.. what if... 2 or even 3 ladies go into labour at the same time?



I have heard tt he ever used forceps or assisted on one baby so tt he can leave to deliver another baby. He is just so busy.. thus makes me wonder. :p

I use to take Centrum Multi Vit, I wonder if I can still continue to take as there is Vit A as well. I have stopped taking since I found out I am pregnant.

i complained abt LA using vacuum on my son.. well I'm still going back to him after serious thoughts.

he is professional la. so i think he did that must be a professional judgement altho I was still upset.



i'm having morning sickness this 2nd pregnancy..

feel like bloated stomach and vomiting the whole day. esp after drinking water..

hello ladies...i have no MS at all..hmm. The mild nausea also seems to be gone. Anyone else not feeling MS? I only have back ache & i put on 3kg already!! Stomach also bulging out, but I think it's air & fats...Supposed to be 7 weeks 4 days today. Had scan last week & they saw the heartbeat...phew

 
I just got the cost breakdown from my gynae:

Consulation : $70

U/Scanning : $185 (normal: $100)



i am very puzzled, the nurse told me that the scanning is different this time, but i didn't see any different leh, also use the same device, scan the same area, i really don't know how come it costed more expensive.

Then the nurse said, for my next visit, the cost will go be charged as per normal (consultation: $70, scanning: $100).

If you feel like vomiting after drinking water, why don't you try fruit juice or honey water instead? A little bit of sourness or sweetness may overcome the nausea feeling?

yeah I've stocked up fridge with fruit juice/ yoghurt.. but as long drink water then will feel like vomit.

actually pregnant shouldnt drink cold drinks..



i not only feel like vomit. also feel faint leh.

I should be 6th wks now so hopefully it'll pass soon

 
ladies, i had some brown spotting over the wkend and went to Dr Yvonne Chan this morning. She did a scan for me, cant see bb yet, since its just over 4 wks, but uterus lining has thickened which she says is good. She also gave me Duphaston to eat for 10 days before i next see her. Anyone has taken it before? Also apparently preggy moms have to take 1000mcg of folic acid a day? I am also into my 6th weeks now, can we drink red dates with wolfberries? I am drinking these more to replace water. I soak them in a thermal flask at work.



YJHL - my GP gave me 5mg of folic acid also.

 
anyone got any CL to recommend? i need her for day time n 2 weeks only..

anyone can help?? headache looking around..

some more is at CNY time.. looks like will be more expensive..

I m taking 1tablet (5mg) folic acid + 1tablet centrum multi-vit daily.



Will only be visiting my gynae end of the mth. But tis is wat I used to have for my 1st child. So guess is still quite ok.

 
hi ladies, the 5mg of folic acid daily is more than enough. 1000mcg = 1mg, so by taking the 5mg tablet, we are well covered. I clarified with my gyne, cos I also thought I was getting less than recommended.

 
mamaying - i havent heard lawrence ang using forceps but he uses vaccuum... my bb also vaccuum bb... sigh i didnt knw.. if not i wldnt allow it =P hes quite fast dont worry... i gave birth at Mt A.. apparently, another mummy in my thread also gave birth same day jus before me and was by dr lawrence ang too.. LOL... so frm TMC he rush over to Mt A... anyway both hospitals nearby.. heh heh heh...

Is it ok to take centrum? I used to take b4 I become pregnant, but I am not sure now cos I read we can't take certain amount of Vit A and E?



I juz bought Blackmores Pregnancy and Breast Feeding supplement, it does not contain Vit A. I think I will ask my gynae when I see him next mon.

But since u will b visiting ur gynae next week, mayb u shld chk with ur gynae first coz he/she might prescribe something else for u to take.



I only managed to book a slot with my gynae end of the mth. So eager to see the little fellow but still need to wait for another 2 weeks.

 
I' m taking folic acid n multi-vits.



My morning sickness is killing me. I'm practically nausea n vomitting the whole day. Sour plum n medicated oil doesn't help. Any smell, even my fav smell of my son's bb powder also makes me vomit! Help

thanks very much for ur replies. YEs i am just not sure whether I want to continue to see him. I would like as much as possible to have a normal delivery without assistance, like my first baby. Then again. all pregnancies and deliveries are different. maybe i could discuss with dr ang.

I am so afraid that I will vomit in the crowded train. My hubby told me to bring plastic bags just in case.

I think we can eat most things except raw food/ and some other things.

I'll go check my book tonight and update you.

For my last pregnancy, I gave up peanuts/ cold drink (altho once in a while I take secretly)/ stingray/ sotong/ raw food



We're too early in the trimester to take extra vit. cos now BB is still very small so we just eat 3 balanced meal will be enough.



I lost 1 kg over the last week.. but it is normal. My first pregnancy I lost weight in first 3 months



Doc only prescribe multi vit to you in the 4th month

 
Saw doc Ang yesterday. my EDD is 5th Feb but he said I will definitely get Tiger BB.. also saw BB heartbeat at 6 wks 2 days.



MS: Charmaine, Neogoby and Mamaying. I feel just like you abt the hungry also nauseaous, full also nauseaous and feeling last whole day!

I took Duphaston when I had spotting for my first pregnancy. Prescribed by KK A&E dept

It is to stabalise the pregnancy.

 
Hi mummies, anyone really vomit out wat you eat? I vomit before i eat and i vomit after i eat. I'm so xin ku now. Can't even play with my son and have to ask the maid to handle him coz i'm so giddy and nausea. I'm feeling so sad now.



Just saw GP and she prescribe med that will coz drowziness so that i can just sleep and reduce vomitting. I really hope morning sickness will leave me asap

 
ah ching: ay, but CNY is 3rd Feb, so if your EDD is 5 Feb, then it's a little bunny right



charmaine: I have no MS lei. Last week mild nausea, but this week, totally no symptoms. My doc told me to stop multi vits until after 1st trimester, cos he said taking multi vits & folic acid will worsen the vomitting. But we gotta keep taking folic acid.

 
aiyo, poor thing you, Charmaine, before you eat also vomit. If I am not wrong, you are not working right? take care and rest more. If vomit, then your body will lose more water, you better replenish with fruit juice or isotonic water.



Ah Ching, is my hubby la, he is super kan cheong, insist i should start taking multi vit cos he said my baby needs to grow, sigh.... I also read somewhere that 2nd trimester then need to take.



I think with the poor appetite and vomiting, confirm sure lose weight during the first trimester, donno whether to be happy or not.

 
thanks Ah Ching, how long did u spot for? Brown spotting? Did the medicine help to prevent it? Ya doc said its an1 tai1 yao4. I am so worried cos i spotted again this morning and told boss i will work fr home these 2 days to rest

when i feel faint or tired i still gotta take care of my 1 year old very active boy.

but dont be sad. I think MS will pass us after the 1st trimester.



Lynn, we normally give birth before our EDD.

my first one I gave birth 39 weeks and 3 days. my gynae went to induce birth cos he said dont want BB too big wait difficult to give birth.

I think most normal pregnancy we pop a few days before EDD.

I suspect Doc also dont want to work CNY la :p



Neongoby, no need to take folic acid if you take multi-vits. other wise we will overdose on folic acid.

too much folic acid will affect the absorption of zinc lei.



YJHL: I think my spotting stopped the 2nd day. I remembered I gan cheong after I got spotting so I just rested at home.

Sleep 18 hours a day cos I not working.

I just changed job and found I was preggy so I quit my new job 2 years ago..

didnt work until recently..

 
Hi lynn, i just called gynae and was told to stop folic acid and multi-vit. If i'm still vomitting tmr, was told to go for drip.



Hi Neongoby, i'm not worried about putting on weight coz my 1st pregnancy i put on 25kg and i lose all thru exercise.



Hi Ah Ching, yes thank goodness i have my helper coz my 3yr old son is hyperactive and seldom naps plus i have a hyperactive dog as well. Duno if i can tahan this morning sickness anymore. I didn't have this in my 1st pregnancy. Now i vomit >15x a day and my throat is so painful, lips cracked and stomach so cramped

 
thanks Ah Ching, I am rly worried, alot of brown discharge. But i just went to see doc yesterday alr. Wonder if i should go to another doc or there's nothing they can do anw. i am only 4 wks 2 days, cant see anything yet. even next appt, i will be 5 wks 4 days, may be too early too.

Lynn, yes was told to stop folic acid too. I drink water also vomit. Gynae say i will need to go drip if i keep vomit includ water. I got scared and kept forcing myself to eat and drink. I vomit again after which i force myself to eat and drink again. I'm so pathetic now.

now always need to snack biscuits or gummies to keep a taste in my mouth so I won't feel like tt.
