huh.. dont work for u ar... alamak.. my gynae still says walk more can help to fasten delivery too.. i tot i walked a lot too from the carpark to my office every day is quite far... but then no signs lor. yah i tot my gynae if by my edd (18th) still no signs then i will choose 20/09/2009 and she says ok leh.. hehe... so either this wkend 12th or 20th lor.. i somehow prefer even nos... lol

experienced mummies,

i need some advise on the naming for baby in the birth cert.

this is to be done in the hospital, is it?

how does it go ah? coz we won't be naming any dialect name, so is it just the english name will do and then the chinese name as in chinese characters will do? or does the english name need to also include the han yu ping ying (in english) together with the christian name? if so, then the surname should use the english or chinese one?

not sure if i'm confusing you all. keke... hope u get what i'm trying to ask. thanks!!

to shelled and jenifur.. so sorry.. going to let u both down.. guess i'll still go for planned c-sec sometime next wk. I managed to be swayed by my gynae again last sat. He really seems so sincere n concern that i have decided for the safety of bb n myself, i'll just go for c-sec.. he even show me pic of the torn wound.. waiting for my dad to choose a not too bad date for me..

kiki.. if you wanna do it in hospital think got to be within the 1st 14 days.. if not got to go ICA and do... n i think some hospital dont have chinese software thus needs handwritten. But I just checked with glen E.. they have..

my 1st one i did at ICA, the malay gal asked me to write! N i so silly never ask her how come nt type one.. so nw my gal's birth cert can see my ugly handwriting..

You don't have to say sorry to us lah.. end of the day you only have to answer to yourself. Both Shelled & me jus dun wan u to have nay regret of not trying natural since this is gng to be yr last baby. Now that you've made up yr mind den dun think about it anymore.. just look forward to yr prince's grand arrival.

I did all my 3 children's BC in ICA too leh & e ICA officer type out the Chinese Character for us. We jus have to provide them w e han yu pin yin. How come you've to write yrs?? Must be tt lady see u nice to bully *hee*

Do note that if the Chinese Character you use dun appear in their PC or dictionary den you will have to prove that there is really such a word by bringing tt particular version of dictionary.

We faced this problem w 1 of my gal's chinese character so 1st time cannot do the BC. DH had to go borrow e dictionary from e master den go back to ICA to do it. They had a little problem finding Jed's Chinese name too, thank God in e end manage to find or else we'll hv to make another trip

Shelled, below so pressure and pain already how to have sex. No mood at all ler, hahaha

I walk alot until leg vein also come out already but still no use. But i find my leg suddenly swell up alot recently, don't know why.

Katherine, my 1st boy birth cert was done in KKH. I practise writting his chinese name for many times before i write on the BC. But still looks ugly.

I think i know what you're trying to ask. Not required to have dialect or hanyu pinyin name for bb. Can just put English name, then Chinese characters. Cos for both my boys, their names are done that way. J's English name is "Joshua Tan", without dialect or hanyu pinyin name. Then Chinese name just put chinese characters only. Likewise for Keegan. They also process our application and said it's ok.

Not necessary to do in the hosp. You can go to ICA (at Lavender there) later to do bb's birth cert. K was born on 17th Aug, and Hubs only went to ICA to do the birth cert on 28th Aug. But there's a cut-off time to it. I think within 3 mths after bb is born or something. Sorry, not too sure about the timeline.

FYI: K's chinese characters are typed out in the birth cert.

Wei wei, I only suggest because it worked for me hor. Prior to that I also don't believe sex can induce labour. Cos it didn't work for me when I was preggy with J!

Did the pic of the torn wound look scary? I think if my gynae had shown me, I sure don't even dare to try VBAC. I imagine should look very scary lor.

Don't be silly about "letting us down" lor! It is your birth and your choice to decide what you want leh. Elective c-sec has its advantages as well, esp when we're talking about VBAC. As long as mom & babe are safe and sound, who cares how the delivery was done lah. Have a safe C-sec ok?? And pls update us when bb arrives!

My J's birthcert also handwritten chinese character! Then now I see K's birthcert so nicely typed out, I have a strong urge to redo J's cert so the chinese character can be sui sui also...

According to old wives' tales, leg swell means you going to pop soon. But i think its bullshit leh. My leg swell ard 36wks, all the way until 39wks then I pop lor! 3 wks don't count as "going to pop soon" hor! I expect "soon" to be like... within a few days

i also practice and practice before writing on the birthcert, but also ugly leh! Handwritten can never be as nice as typed out lor.

sonnigt3, enxuan, milkway, princess, xmasc - my edd is tis fri but oso no news yet. damn stress cannot sleep well. bb was already 3.3kg at 39wks. will induce tis fri PM n deliver on 12sep if still no news. oso afraid might nt be able to deliver naturally coz i m small size. experiencing sharp pain at v area n BH quite often...but bb still doesn't wanna cme out leh!

anyone knows if we chk in tmc after 11pm, we will nt be charged on the nite itself tat we checked in? after hearing afew bad experiences at tmc i m oso worried. when i delivered my 1st boy in 2005, their service was very gd then.

how do you sterilise your lock n lock container? i got a big one with the intention of storing my breast pump parts as well. but haven't sterilised the container.
also, are those sterilisation tongs necessary? actually i have an avent steriliser. but i think the breast pump parts needs to be sterilised separately. not sure if they can fit in the avent steriliser

anyone has problem of aging placenta?

i went for my 38th week visit yesterday. gynae sees from the scan that my placenta is aging. she was telling me that aging placenta can cause fetal distress during labour. but since baby is still gaining weight, she says wait till next week to decide if should induce. i was so stressed after that, just broke down n cried. baby was supposed to be 3.1kg this week, but he's only 2.9+kg. so actually he's gaining less weight then he should.

still no signs of labour till now. praying that God will bring my baby to birth in His time.

Rachel's Birth Story:-
Was already 3cm when she reached hosp at 8am. Supposed admit to be induced, but she want natural. So doc checked, cervix soft,good. He broke her waterbag n He say let her try natural. checked at 1pm still 3cm... :-S

So doc says give oxytocin. Once that one in, contractions really come hard n fast. But @ 3pm, 4cm. At 5pm, 5cm. Very slow. N she was almost gone by 5pm. 5-6cm was torture. Fr 4plus, nurses already keep asking want jab on thigh? Cuz she was surviving on laughin gas since 3pm... she insisted dun want. But by 6pm, the pain was So intolerable that she was literally screaming in pain. 4th time another nurse persuaded her to take jab cuz they see her So distressed. Finally she relented. But a bit late. Cuz once jab in, the next few contractions reached a new peak. She totally screaming. Finally, when e jab took effect abt 15-20mins later, nurse asked her HB to put laughin gas on her permanently,just let her b drowsy. Finally, that's when she dilated 5-8cm in 30 mins. By 7 plus, she was already fully dilated, ready to push, her doc was next door with another pushin mum. So she just push for crowning.. Abt 8pm, he came over,a couple of pushes, Princess Rayanne out at 2011hrs. Nurses all said she stubborn. Shld hv taken jab earlier. Everything would hv sped up long ago. But its a good experience nonetheless. They say she hv a high threshold for pain.. Haha But she salute those mums who didn't even take jab. Phew.. :-S She'll have taken longer without the jab N died... Haha..

Praise the Lord.. Wat she learnt thru this - Don't be stubborn n listen to the professionals!! Haha..

why leh? I can poo poo everyday for the whole pregnancy until recently.. Esp. for the third trimester, that's where I had to put in more effort to poo poo.. wahahah... I guess it's because I have IBS (irritable bowel symptoms)..

I like that suggestion of inducing labour naturally through sex. But I tried and nothing happen for me.

Still the same.. Haiz... everyday, still the same. Just sore at V area and nothing more. These days, I don't even note what cramps or BH or whatsover. Just note bb's movements and the rest, I can't be bothered. My thumb of rule is that if I am still able to contemplate whether the its contraction or anything else, it means it's not.. lolz.

you are inducing this friday? Me too... But mine is in the morning.. Start inducing. My dr. say have to put 1 tablet in v in the morning, then another in the afternoon, then check-in in the evening. But of course, she will have to check. She say if my body and bb is ready, then will induce... otherwise continue to wait... zzz.. hehe.. you also delivering at TMC? Maybe we will be able to meet... wahaha..

I guess you're right. If still can contemplate if it's an actual contraction or not, prolly means it's not. Even though early contractions may not be painful to everyone, it's definitely strong enough to stop you in your tracks! Somehow I had a tendency to go "ooooooh" whenever I had a contraction. It's just a really weird feeling to have your tummy and vagina tighten up so much!

congrats to Rachel for her bravery in natural birth! i didnt know laughing gas can b put on permanently, coz during my 1st delivery the nurse at tmc told me i cudnt keep holding the mask on my face.

xmasc, enxuan - ya, gonna c gynae tis fri pm if still no news yet. will do ctg after tat insert pill in to induce if everything ok. then go home rest n chk in hosp anytime aft 11pm. gynae said if chk in aft 11pm i will nt be charged for the nite itself leh..dunno true anot. wah...3 of us very close, inducing on 11 n 12. u all started ur ML already? i started mine since mon. sigh...waste my 3 days of ML so far. hope we will mit at tmc soon!

(with vacuum - dr. woody preferred choice - din even ask me.. then he episotomy even before pushing.. got no chance to say anything at all)

the pain was horrible from the induction and waterbag breakage.. at first 1 min apart 1 contraction.. then it becomes continual 1 min i had 2-3 non stop contractions pain.. was laughing n joking at first.. then my turn to wring in agony and "break" my hubby hand.. almost biting it.. lol
succumbed to epi after 3 hrs of pain man...

will update my birth story when im back hm

was tinking of trying fully natural w/o epi tis time round if possible, but tink bb will be too big for me to even push out. if can go natural w/epi n vacuum like jess i will be happy n contented! wah..pain fm induction so unbearable ar...kinda scared now leh.

Uh, just in case you all don't know, maternal fatigue is also a reason to do a emergency C-section. So I think if the pain is very very jiatlat, don't wait for 16hours like my poor cousin before getting pain relief. If you're too exhuasted from the pain and you can't push when fully dilated, you may still end up with a c-sec!

Congrats!

My boy was delivered natural w/o epi cos dilation was too fast and I inhaled the laughing gas throughout... gynae was stuck in a jam and stupid nurses at tmc told me to wait... so had to go without jab too. Lucky he appeared just in time before I started cursing and swearing in the delivery ward. Ended up digging my nails in my hubby's hand till his skin came off

going to kkh this time round... hope to have everything smooth-going.

if you decide to have epi, ask for it early. I opted too late for my 1st 2 and they were delivered within 2 hours before the numbness set in so I was still in pain...

somehow all my bb so big at birth..

for mummies who will hv not delivered, i was told by my friend n MIL tat drinking a bot of chicken essence can boost our energy during labour. i already packed 1 bot in my labour bag..keke, rem urs too!

sonnigt3 - tks for ur advice! for my 1st one, i oso tahan till 6cm dilation b4 taking epi. nurse told me shud hv taken earlier instead of enduring for more than 5hrs..end up oso need to take. i yaya wanna see how far i can go mah..so conclusion is my threshold of pain is still nt very high..keke. so tis time i better take earlier if cannot tahan the pain. praying very hard i won't hv to suffer cuts on bottom end up bb too big cannot cme out then cut again on tummy. ur bbs all very big? u medium size? me small size leh. bb at 3.3kg last wk. tis fri going to see gynae, hope he won't grow too big to be induced. hv been controlling my diet for past few days already. haha..u r rite, want kids hubby gotta 'share' mah.;P

Congrats to all mummies who have given birth!

I should be inducing after my next checkup next wednesday as baby is big. At 38 weeks, she is abt 3.4 - 3.5kg although my EDD is 24 Sep. Doc said he can't allow me to go past the EDD. So now, i'm waiting for labour to come naturally as she is engaged already. Really hoping that it would be natural delivery.

I'm experiencing bad water retention. By mid day, both my feet have already swelled up..sigh. To add on, both my right and left wrists tendons are aching, those suan feeling so i can't carry heavy things. Anyone of you experiencing it?

princessxiaomei> keke. near to delivery, u will feel dat u cant really control ur bladder. =p tat's all i feel. den start to get those show symptons n contraction comes in gradually, u're abt there. dun give up. btw, shuld b resting more when bb not out. when bb is out, u wun haf time to rest. learn how to latch bb to bf, etc etc. headache.

melissa> ur bb better than me. on de day of discharge, he was 15.9. so we stayed till 11.9 de nxt day n discharge. today went to check. up to 14.2 again. doc say tml go test again. if lvl still high, i'll have to rent the phototheraphy equipment for bb to do de phototheraphy at hm. heng now can do at hm, no need readmit him to hospital. else i'll b heartbroken without bb with me.

I think my boy has learned the bad habit of preferring bottle feed. Coz my letdown is too slow for him, I think. Just trried to latch him again but he kept sucking less than a minute, then struggle & push away, cry & cry then latch again,...

when i gave him ebm in bottle, he happily drank up 75ml. hiaz.. i think my latching days are over.
