Hi angelmummy,
I can't sleep much too. partly cos I feel very hot and maybe cos think too much...

Hey lemontree,
Have a great journey! Join us when you're back!

Hey gals,

I got the info from babycentre.com:

Fri, Mar 14, 2008 (Reuters Health) - For pregnant women without symptoms, and who have ultrasound evidence that their fetus is viability at the first prenatal visit, the risk of subsequent miscarriage is less than 2 percent — well below previously reported rates — according to a large study conducted in Australia.

The overall risk of miscarriage once a woman knows she is pregnant is 12 to 15 percent, the researchers note in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology. Even after ultrasound has confirmed that the fetus is healthy, studies have shown that early miscarriage rates can be as high as 12 percent.

However, no studies have exclusively investigated the miscarriage risk among women without symptoms, such as vaginal bleeding or lower abdominal pain, Dr. Stephen Tong, from Monash University in Victoria, and colleagues point out.

Tong's group conducted a study with 696 asymptomatic women carrying one fetus who attended their first prenatal visit between 6 and 11 weeks of pregnancy. Ultrasound exams documented fetal cardiac activity.

Eleven patients (1.6 percent) had a miscarriage before 20 weeks. The risk was relatively high at 9.4 percent among the women who were 6 weeks pregnant, falling to 1.5 percent among those who were 8-weeks pregnant, and less than 0.7 percent from 9 weeks onward.

The study was conducted in a regular prenatal clinic, "not a specialized early pregnancy clinic or an ultrasound department," Tong's group points out, and none of the attending physicians who performed the initial ultrasonography had any formal subspecialty qualifications.

"Consequently, we believe that our data could be extrapolated generally to health care providers provided that they are able to offer office ultrasonography to confirm viability at that visit," the team surmises.

Ford's group concludes that, for asymptomatic women who have their first prenatal visit between 8 and 11 weeks of pregnancy and do not have pregnancy risk factors, "our data may be useful as a counseling tool to reassure such women at the end of their first prenatal visit that their risk of loss is already very low."

If you want to read more about miscarriages:
http://www.babycenter.com/0_understanding-miscarriage_252.bc

I believe our risks are very low, especially those who've heard babies' heartbeat, so no worries! I'm very curious about the topic, so wanna read more.

Hi sun96,
I bought clarins tonic oil and clarins stretchmark cream which are safe to use during pregnancy. I use the oil at night after bathing and cream in the morning. I apply it on my tummy, breast, buttocks and tighs, it is not oily and absorbs very easily. I believe we must keep our bodies well moisturised as every part of our body is gradually expanding.

I think there are other brands in the market, but must take note of the ingredients, try to buy those that are natural and chemical free which are safe for pregnant mums, we don't want to apply chemical stuff on our tummy right?

Actually i read from other threads that Palmer's brand caused a number of MTB with itchy rashes on their tummy after using. I have sensitive skin so i dare not try palmer's and tried clarins instead. The review for clarins is pretty good which i totally agree after using it. However, if anyone of u bought palmer's better do a skin test first, or apply a thin layer to test if ur skin can take it anot.

Hi sashamama,
I also think i worry too much. I realised i got some light brown discharge for the past 3 days and also got on & off cramps (although not very painful but caused some discomfort). I have been monitoring as my gynae told me to go and see her if there's spotting. Every night i will pray that my baby will be healthy.
happy.gif
Now i drink warm milk before bed to relax my body. Sashamama, you can try it out, i think it does help abit.

Hi angelmummy,
Clarin's sound ex. Is it? What's the product name?

Warm milk? You mean the enfamama powder form kind? I've yet to buy le. Heard from Wintertime that my first visit to Dr J Wong will get a goodie bag with Enfamama samples. Hehe. I drink HL cold milk and eat cornflakes every morning, drink Horlicks at night sometimes. I wonder can or not huh?

Hi Sashamama,
The product names are Huile "Tonic" Body Treatment Oil and Stretch Mark Control. $80 each over counter. However, I went to century square ytday and went into a shop on level 3 call Tins & Bottles, they sell at $59.65, but currently they don't have stock. Im thinking to buy from them after i finish using.

Ya, I make Anmum milk ard 1/3 to half cup only cos i scared will go toilet frequently and defeats the purpose. In the morning, i make Anmum with some baby rolled oats. Actually i think horlicks also can. But sashamama, u mentioned u feel hot at night, do u slp with aircon? Is the heat is from ur body? Cos i find myself also feeling very heaty, I try to refrain taking heaty stuff like biscuits, milo, chocolates, fried food, etc. I heard Horlicks is quite heaty, if you are that type like me who get heaty very easily, try not to take too much heaty stuff ya.

angelmummy
clarin's product is safe to use huh? wat's the product name? must use w the tonic oil 2gether?
other than tummy, breast, buttocks & tights too?

i'm drinking Pura brand milk... doesn't matter which brand u r drinking right?

Hi sun96,

Yes, clarin's product is safe to use, it is stated on the box. I use both products separately, oil at night, cream in the morning as instructed by the counter advisor and also the oil is more nourishing, more suitable to apply at night.

The oil is called Huile "Tonic" Body Treatment Oil http://sg.clarins.com/main.cfm?prodID=65 and the cream is called Stretch Mark Control http://sg.clarins.com/main.cfm?prodID=919. U can click on the link for both products to view the details and ingredients used.

Hihi mummies to be,

I just tested positive too, 2nd time mummy, my girl is coming to 17mths soon
happy.gif
. Have yet to see a gynae since only abt 5 weeks now, intend to go back to my previous gynae in 2 weeks' time.

Saw some questions on stretch mark prevention creams, would like to recommend Galenic (Elancyl) from guardian pharmacy- it's made from vegetable extracts with a nice light fragrance and very affordable as compared to other brands. Used this for my 1st pregnancy and zero stretch marks
happy.gif
Palmers caused allergy to few of my friends so I will not suggest that.

Would love to chat more and share with you all!

By the way is anybody exercising as usual now? Care to share what kinda exercise are you mummies doing now?

sun, i only use the oil.. cos i heard it's better as it can absorb easily into our skin..

sasha, ya.. i think it will be nice and sweet if you can start blogging now for ur precious one..

Not sure if anyone can enlighten me.

I had spotting on 14 Jul and brown discharge on 15 Jul, thought my mense came so I went to see my gynae and he did a scan for me and confirmed that my mense is here so he prescibed me clomid. But after the 15 Jul, my mense didn't come at all and my temperature is perpetually above 37 which is very different from the previous months when I had my mense. My chinese sinseh suspected that I am pregnant becos of the high temp and asked me to test. True enough I tested positive on clearblue

But why didn't my gynae detected anything? And because of that, I have decided to see another gynae on the 1 Aug to confirm. What do you gals think? Am I preg or not?

Srumpee: When was your last LMP? It could be because it was too early to detect anything. :S What was clomid for?

I guess if you are already positive on clearblue, it is most likely that you are pregnant. Did you suspect you were pregnant before you went to see your gynea?

hello ladies! hope all's well! gg back to gynae this wk, so hopefully can see heartbeat ! hehhe..

regarding stretchmark cream:
I used the clarins oil + cream since I knew I was preggie but haha not useful at all le, I still get Looooads of stretchmarks, but they do HELP to relieve the itch. SO i guess it really varies from person to person. and I think it's genetics too. muahaha.. This time I'll still use back clarins cause it's really relaxing and doesn't really matter la. since I already have stretchmarks!

scrumpee:: maybe it's still early and the gynae couldn't see anything? I think the same as padi, if you tested + on clearblue then most likely you are, and why wanna wait till 1Aug, and not asap? since you had some spotting and brown discharge?

queenie:: did you go back see your gynae on fri? Howhow?

Greetings to all Mummies

Went to gynea for a check and its confirmed that Im preggie. This would be my 2nd child.

Congrats Arsenal..

Check with all Mummies here. I'm having a little brown discharge and it got worsen today and I'm having a slight cramp.

Can anybody advise what is it?

Mummy bear: You should be in your 8 weeks right? Better to consult gynea?? Slight cramp at early pregnancy is said to be normal - I get cramps but I am only 5 weeks preggie. Not sure about discharge. Call your gynea tmr? *hugs* take care!

Arsenal: Congrats!
happy.gif
How many weeks are u?

Mummy Bear,

U may want to discuss it with your gynea. When I had my 1st child, I experience that. Mine is lightly bleed.

Mummy bear, ya i agree with the rest of the gals. pls consult gynae as any spotting is not gd for bb.. not too sure abt discharge. better play save..

Arsernal, congrats and welcome

happy.gif

Sun96, you've seen a gynae already though?
happy.gif
I'm dying to see mine but even the nurse who answered when I called to make appt told me to wait 2 weeks.. haha, help me save $$$

Sun96, ya lor.. personally I feel too early la.. nothing expanding where got stretchmarks? But of coz no harm starting early to play safe... the brand I used last time, apply sparingly can le.. no need to slap it on anyway, so can use early, no harm too

Hi all,
So happy having so many march MTBs joining us!!!

Hi Scrumpee,
Best is to see gynae for advice. Baby's heartbeat can only be heard/seen via scan from 6 weeks onwards. 4-5 weeks just a sac, not obvious, smaller than sesame seed! That's why ur gynae din noe i guess! Best is to see gynae after 6th week, hopefully can detect heartbeat. Take care and update us!!!

Hi Mummybear,
I read that slight discharge (esp brown) is alright, something like your old blood being dislodged from uterus, no worries
happy.gif
Take note if the blood flow is a lot, like menstrual flow, soaking up 1 pad an hour, and with pains, then there's cause for concern. but if you're uncomfy, it's best to get gynae's opinion. Take care!

Hi Arsernal,
WELCOME!!! Update your details in the list below?

sun96, hmm last time when I went to see gynae I was already 7weeks preg, could see (not hear) heartbeat already... no BT or test on HCG at all... this time should be the same I guess.

Can apply on tummy, arms, thighs, breast

Hi all,

This thread is really moving sooo fast!

Re: stretchmark cream
Same like Maddy, I also used Elancyl stretch mark cream for my 1st pregnancy. Had zero stretch mark too. Started using when I was about 3 months pregnant.

Will use the same this time. Anyone who's interested, just to share that Guardian is having promo, 2 tube for the price of 1 while Watson's dun have such promo. I have stocked up mine

Hi Queenie,

I can't wait for my 1st appt on 1st Aug! Very anxious now, wonder how is the bb growing and if there's heartbeat. It's gonna be a painful 12-day wait! I guess if I visit too early, no heartbeat detected and need to go back 2 weeks later, will be equally or even more painful! Now just keeping a look-out for bleeding and pain...
