Hello mummy,

Before you do the next test, i would like to suggest you discuss with your hubby the following things.

1) If further test finding confirm that bb has DS, will both of you decide to terminate the pregancy OR will still want to give birth? If the answer is still want to give birth, then i suggest you to save the $$$ on the test. Because the result is of no value.

2) Is 99% result accuracy sufficient for both of you to make a decision? If Yes, then you can proceed with Harmony test

3) If you must have 100% result accuracy before you will take any decision, then you should skip harmony test and do aminotest instead, but you must be mindful that amintest carry a tiny risk of misccarriage. If you are the type that cannot accept any miscarriage risk, then you should stick with harmony test.

Hope the above help both of you decide what is best step forward for your family. Every family is different & unique, therefore only the both of you will know what is best thing to do.

Jia you.

I have made the statistic searches and I know what I'll commit but my main concern is whether any mummies here went for harmony/amnio tests resulting positive DS yet babies born are healthy and good?

I am happy to note that you have done your statistic search and know exactly what you will commit. That good good.

Incidentally, i am sure you will be aware that this is afterall just another forum, there will be many mummy inside here who are tested positive via oscar and harmony yet give birth to prefectly healthy child and there will also be lot of mummy who are tested negative and still give birth to child with Ds.

Jia you. All will turn out sui sui for your family de.

Appreciate your thoughts.

how was the scan? the NT measurement & nasal bone detected? sometimes the scan might be ok, just the mother's age & blood biochem attributed to the results.

I see. What I mean is your husband and your family sides, anyone with DS? Hope your baby is ok.

Oh haha. My 姑姑has a son who was dead when 5/6 years old, heart defective. My hubby's elder Sister has a DS son, now already 14 years old. I don't know if these were from the same family gene or the genes from the other families (姑姑's Husband sides? My hubby's elder Sister's hubby side?

NT and nasal bone are detected and within normal range. Gynae told me is because of my maternal age sometimes this really worry us

Yes, I didn't want to go for all those tests, very stressful. But my hubby insisted. Anyway what's your age group? Hope everything is fine with the baby.

i'm 38 turning 39 this year & i'm a first time mummy in my week 20 now :) so far all the scans are ok, just the oscar results doc said i'm in the borderline risk. going for my detailed scan next week, been keeping positive & praying everyday.
