Hello all! i'm new here and i am abt 4-5wks with my first preg. I hv been to the gynae on Tues, and my next appt will be in early sept. Im hvg lots of bed rest at the moment as my lower abdomen feels v weak if i were to move alot. I undrstd it's normal at the very early stage.. But just wondering, any teachers out there wld like to share ur first time exp?

I'm a teacher and also first time mummy. I'm about 20 weeks along now. The advice that colleagues have been giving me is to have as much bed rest as I think I need. The nature of our job can be very demanding but no one is indispensable. Must rem not to scold too much also!

Hello... what did you mean when you said your lower abdominal area would feel weak if you were to move too much? I'm just wondering if we are experiencing the same thing...

Hi omj, lower abdominal feels weak as in, if i were to move ard alot such as walking, sitting down n standing up often.. Then my lower abdomean wld feel quite painful. But if i were to bed rest/walk ultra slowly, then no pain at all... Actually im nt sure if "pain" is an accurate word to describe cos it's nt like those menstrual cramps kinda "pain". Just feel weak, i guess

Hi, I think I might have the same feeling. It is not pain, just feels weak. I will usually feel better if I get to lie down and rest.
If you also feel better after resting, then I suggest you should really try to rest more. Just listen to your body.
And tell yourself, your baby is more important than your work. I learnt this the hard way.

i have previously felt some slight abdominal cramps during week 5-7 of my pregnancy. at that time, my teaching job requires me to walk ard the school lab which can be tiring. as wks go by, I don't feel any abdominal cramps and sometimes, i almost forgot that i am preggy. Instead of walking towards the students' desk to check their projects, i ask them to approach me at my tutor desk. i used a few teaching methods to minimize walking if i dun feel energetic that day..

Hi,

Not sure if this thread is still active. I'm also a teacher becoming a first time mummy. I also had lower abdomen pain when it was term time so I checked it out at KKH and was given two weeks hospital leave for it.
