Any ladies out there with babies and furbies?

Starting this new thread so that we can share/discuss common topics/interests =)

Hi,

I have 2 furbies and a 10 mth old bb at home. Have been carrying the guilt towards my 2 dogs ever since the latest human member into the family. No more the attention they used to enjoy...

How about you?

Hi,

Hello!

I have 2 furbies as well :D And a 5-month old boy.

And yes I agree with the guilt part. Hahaha... They sometimes looks for me to play fetch but most of the time I am trying to feed the baby or trying to put the baby to sleep.

May I know the breed of your furbies? I have 2 goldens.

Oh...u will have even lesser time with your furbies as your boy gets older...just like me now. I have an active boy who is very attached to me. Other than when he is sleeping, I don't really have time with the furbies.

I have a beagle ( 10yrs old) slightly bigger than its own kind and a mini schnauzer (8yrs old).

Weather has been pretty bad these days for me to bring them for walks even if I can make the time.

Your goldens must also be itching in the bones for walks, I guess?

My boy is already quite attached to me. I try to spend as much time with my furbies by sitting with them tgt with my son so that he can 'interact' with them i.e. Grabbing their ears, their fur, tickling their paws...

And yes they haven't been walked as often as previously.. Kinda feel sorry for them coz not easy to walk them next to the stroller!

I was hoping the dogs will entertain my son. Lol!

But at least they have each other so it's not that bad yet... Lol!

Same here, as much as I can, I will let my son stay in the living room so that the dogs can lie around us or my son can touch n tug them. The beagle sheds badly so we keep them out of the bedrooms.

Goldens are known to be very children friendly so I think they will be able to entertain your boy, just let them have more time together to get to know one another. Lol.

It is indeed not easy to walk them together with the stroller as well. We only do it if my husband is around.

Do u have help at hm? Else to manage 2 goldens n a baby and chores, tough job.

My dogs are free roaming. They share the bedroom with us at night :D

Yes. I have a helper who helps with the housework. Goldens shed a lot! And even if she vacuums once a day and sweep the floor twice a day, there is still an amazing amt of fur. We always joke if we can sell their fur, we would have been rich! Lol :p

You handle the house by yourself?

Even with helper I still can't find much time for myself ~_~

That's nice, they are able to still share the bedroom with you.

I have heard abt golden's extensive shedding too. Lol. We said the same thing abt selling the beagle's fur and making a fortune out of it if they are valuable.

Nope, my mum stays with us, so I am lucky that she is helping out with the house chores and with our son.

Are you a working mum?

I quit my job couple of months back to stay home. So when my son sleeps, I have abit of time for myself.

My female golden knows how to open the door coz it's those handle type so there is no use keeping her out unless she wants to. Lol!

Yes. I am working. I wish I can be a SAHM too!

So it's either at work or at home. Sometimes I am too tired over the weekends even to meet my friends. Sigh~~

Oh hahaha, I see. I believe your goldens are well behaved enough to be able to let them keep the freedom they have always enjoy even till now.

There are pros and cons to being either a SAHM or a FTWM. So it's a matter of a choice to be either one. After being a SAHM, I realised that the time spent while I was working actually was my own time. Own time doing other things except taking care of baby. Lol!

I understand by weekend, will be tired to go out. But I think if you can make a couple hours to meet friends, it will be better for your mental health, can balance the mind. Of course it doesn't mean going out to meet friends every weekend.

Yes. There are pros and cons to being a SAHM and a FTWM. If the finances allow, I would love to stay at home and watch my kid grow up :D

I try to 'run' out once in a while to pamper myself like a mani/pedicure or a facial session. Lol!

But I do miss my kid dearly after a while. :p

My husband and I feels that the first few years of our kid are very important, and my last work place took up too much of my time traveling everyday. Infant care wasn't in our consideration and my mum couldn't handle our son alone as he grows. So I decided to quit my job and stay home for awhile or at least till we feel he is ready to go into childcare centre. Of course, giving up my job means we have to be prudent and just spend what's necessary. But we are all happy with the life is now :)

Lol! Life is just so contradicting, isn't it? We wish to get away and have our personal time when we are with our kid. But when we are really away, we will start thinking "has he woke up yet? has he had his milk? what is he doing now? etc"

Yes! Life is full of contradictions! Esp my breastfed son is always having bottle wars! So I always have to check in to see if he has taken his milk. ~_~

I believed first few years are impt. That's why I always spend time with him on the weekends.

And Thank God the company I am with are family-friendly and so is my boss. So it ain't that bad yet. My colleagues will cover for me when I have to take leave to look after my son. I think it really helps to have supportive network at work.

Merry X'mas!

Lol. Do u latch him when u are hm?

Yeah, weekends are extremely precious for working moms to spend with kids.

Yes, having a family friendly company and supportive co workers are very important to parents with kids. So you are very lucky.

I was out with sisters to do some shopping, I wonder if it's just me, never knew Orchard was so so crowded on Xmas Eve. I seemed to have disconnected from the outside world. Lol.

Blessed Christmas!

Orchard Road is always crowded... More so with pple doing last minute shopping for the festives!

Might be just me but I try not to head down to town coz it's getting crowded. The trains are packed and even the roads are mostly jammed up.

I do most shopping online now. =P

I give him the bottle now. No more latching on coz I don't want another war with the bottle again. Lol! Even when we are out, it's still the bottle.

I hardly goes Orchard anymore unless there is absolutely a need to go...can't stand the crowd anymore...maybe it comes with age...lol..yes, especially now, with a kid, I hate taking the trains. I hate to beg for seats. And the stroller takes up space too.

Oh...my friends do online shopping too, it's common now. But I am just not one of the online shoppers. I like to touch and feel what I am buying. Lol!

He will understand one day that he only has bottles from now on...lol!

How are the dogs getting along with your boy? Are they curious about him or playing with him already?

Trains are not very children friendly nowadays... Especially some inconsiderate pple who will 'tsk' at you or stare at you for taking up that amount of space... Sigh~

But still... Like you mentioned... We will brave Orchard once in a while to get stuff... I really hate leaving my son all alone at home...

Online shopping brings surprises! It's either u love it or you don't... Now I just stick to buying toys and supplements... Clothes not really yet coz it's still a bit tough to get them to for properly...

My dogs tolerate my son very well... He does play catching with them in the walker since he can maneuver it quite well now and the dogs will try to soothe him when he's crying... My female dog who thinks she's the big sister will 'clean' him every time she has the chance to... And she's a poo detector... Not sure how she knows but she is 100% accurate... Lol!

Yes, that's why we are quite fussy when deciding to bring our son out...depending on where and time (if the trains will be too crowded). Can't wait for our son to be able to walk on his own so that we won't have to bring the stroller out.

I take it as an excuse for me to leave the house once in awhile to do shopping...haha. Online shopping means I will have to stay home more...

That's so sweet of your dogs! They are your part time babysitters. lol.
What does your dog do when she detects poo?

We are blessed to have a car because my husband's job requires him to have one. But then again sometimes when I bring him out alone, I try to avoid peak hours. So it's like 10am, 2-3pm and try to board the train back home like 5pm.

Now I just online shop for toys. Currently hooked in Amazon free shipping! Lol!

My dog will lick his legs non-stop until we change the diapers. But she seldom has a chance now coz he doesn't poop everyday now. Lol!

Happy 2014!

Having a car makes all the traveling so much more convenient. We do not own a car, so if there is too much to lug or bb gets tired already, we will take a cab.
But now to change my bb's diaper, is like fighting a battle with a monster. At home, he will just crawls around not wanting to wear his diaper. If he is outside, he will be crying like mad. So I don't bring him out on my own anymore, unless it's just a short while and he has pooped at home already.

I am trying to surf Amazon too, but don't really have the time for it yet. lol. That's why I am only replying this after awhile.

Oh, that's so cute of your dog. Does your dogs bark alot?
