Hi mummies, it's been 15years since my friends and I last had our confinements. I cannot remember many things and hope you can help here. I've an ex-intern/ colleague in his twenties, both him and his wife are Vietnamese without family here. Baby was born last week.
A confinement lady was signed through an agency for $4,000 and the current arrangement is below. I will like to check if this is normal?
1) breakfast bread, oats or milo
2) lunch and dinner, 1 meat, 1 veg no soup. her reason is she wants to cook fast.
3) green papaya soup only to cook 2 weeks later after the mummy develop milk
4) day time, the parents take care of baby themselves, she rest in day time and takes care of baby from 10pm to 7am
5) day time, the mommy carries the baby and feed the baby, change the baby and also put the baby into cot herself during the day
may I know if things have changed so much? I seem to recall my old confinement lady used to cook 3-4 dishes with soup everyday, we ate so well that we wished she didn't leave. I also remember, I wasn't allowed to leave the bed much so as the rest the body. As such the baby was always carried to me... I'm concern that the mummy is not getting sufficient rest as her husband is on WFH and no paternity leave.
appreciate your help since my one experience may not be a good benchmark. I asked him to contact the confinement agency to discuss but appreciate any advice you may provide here. thank you
