Hi could I check if there is any mothers whose gynae advise long period of bedrest due to the high chance of preterm baby? Do they give you hospitalisation leave?

For my condition, I will need bedrest at some point of pregnancy. However what and when should I tell my employer? I might need it from 4/5th month onwards and I have not told my employer about my pregnancy. Meaning i could be absent from work for 7+ months inclusive of maternity leave. My work requires me to go to office. Not able to work from home.

I will still like to keep my job as I have an existing health issue so it will be difficult for me to find jobs outside if i quit and i still have health insurance from my company. Plus my salary does help me for my illness and for the pending baby expenses.

Wonder any working pregnant ladies face similar situation as me before?

i think it pretty much depends on how 'generous' ur employer is. altho generally, employers don't dare 'touch' pregnant staffs because it's a very sensitive issue.

my friend was on bedrest for 2 months leading up to her pregnancy so incl of her ML, she was away from office for ~6 months. Her boss is a nice lady, therefore they hired a temp to cover her during that period. i think part of it was because my friend has been working with them for very long and has been performing well tho.

i would suggest you speak up to your employer and inform them first.. at least they can arrange for something else on their part?
