Hi, my daughter is coming of age for playgroup soon and would like to check with parents who have send their children to playgroup before the following
1- can a child of 18 mths learn something there? Does it help in the N1 or N2 later on?
2- in terms of behaviour, do you notice any difference b4 and aft enrolling in playgroup
3- how to alleviate the concerns of getting HFM
4- any recommended playgroup as in the teachers are certified in nursery who really knows how to triggers a child learning and curiosity

Many tks

Hello mummy,

1- can a child of 18 mths learn something there? Does it help in the N1 or N2 later on?
Answer: child learn from age zero and from everything that is around them. for young children, socialising with other children is more important then learning something imho.

2- in terms of behaviour, do you notice any difference b4 and aft enrolling in playgroup
Answer: children that socialise regularly tends to be more confident and less sticky to parent. more brave to explore new environment

3- how to alleviate the concerns of getting HFM
Answer: proper hygiene practise must be followed dilligently, before you send your little one to any center, do go down to take a look to see whether the staff there treat hygiene and health matter seriously. After you follow all these, then law of average will kicks in, meaning the more time your child is expose to more kids, the likelyhood of catching HFM grow proportionally

4- any recommended playgroup as in the teachers are certified in nursery who really knows how to triggers a child learning and curiosity

Answer: none of those that i sent my girl to imho are so good that they deserve my endorsement/referral. (I am a picky person and therefore set very high standard) But i am sure there are many mummy here will be able to give you good recommendation.

enjoy

Hi

I used to be a preschool teacher at a private education which is well known but i shall not disclose it.

In all honesty the kids won't be learning much. It's a waste of money
playgroup is just 3 hours
It is better to enroll your kids when they are 4 years old (Nursery) unless you are a working mummy maybe then it's an exception
As for the school that i used to work for, their playgroup teacher is a prc and 1 assistant teacher with a N level background. Their form teacher will spend most of her time sitting, watching the kids play with their toys and as for the assistant teacher she will be changing the diapers and such
The things that they learn in playgroup are basic, which most mummies can teach their children at home (at least you can focus 1 on 1)
Principle will let all the teacher's know when a parent is coming down for a trial (that's when we prepare ourselves to portray good example)
And when there are no parents around, things can be different

Look around for a good decent playgroup, do not just settle down for one.
Look out for the teacher's background
Some school just want the $$$

They will be listening to songs (most of the time they will zone out by dispersing themselves & the teacher will end up singing and dancing alone)
They are mostly affected with the enviroment around them (their peers) So if one child is crying, the rest will join in as well
They will take a nap after 3 hours (if parents is working)
Eat
The teacher will let them play their toys (hands on)
and listen to more music again
