Hi all

Just got pregnant with #2 been with my new company for only 4 months. How to tell my boss that I'm pregnant when she has lined up a few projects for this coming year which involve a fair bit of travelling?

hello mummy to be :) oh , just tell her that you're pregnant and you dont want to take the risk of going too far away . and see if she can give the projects to the other of your colleagues . it shouldnt be a problem though. your boss will understand it ..

Hi i have also jus tested pos last two weeks have an appt on coming fri.. As my job requires me to do heavy lifting should i tell my boss after the appt when the gynae has confirm my preg thru scan or wait till 3m later? Fyi i have told two of my closest female colleague.. They do help me if i need help.. But i feel so embarrassed to keep asking them for help as i prefer to do things myself..

Should tell your bosses early....i think it will also be a clear indication of what type of person your boss is.
As long as you do your job well, im sure any understanding boss will be happy for you.

I believe a big part of it depends on how well you have been doing at work. I got pregnant the first time after about 9 mths on the job, but my boss was okay. Thankfully, it was a smooth pregnancy. The second pregnancy, I tested positive about a week into the job! Luckily, the boss was the same and he was most happy for me. After I had the second one, he told me, "just one more to go!" Because he has 3.

A friend of mine travelled a lot for her job, and she had 2 kids while doing all that sky-jetting, leh... Didn't seem to affect her. In fact, she developed a craving for SQ meals! I think it depends on individual and their health, as well as comfort level. What you can do is make sure you do very well while you can... so when you are sick, or gets too big, they can cut you some slack!

If you have to do heavy lifting or carry things, what you should do is to ground yourself - channel the energy to your legs and feet; and not your abdomen. Like when people practise martial arts, or ballet. This is important; especially in later stages of pregnancy.
