I just took the OGTT test yesterday and had the results that I am positive.

Anyone else also going through this? I would appreciate some advice on this.

Ur gynae didn't give you "remedial" class? Haha. When i was positive for GD for previous pregnancy, I need to sit in and listen to my gynae tell me do and don'ts and give me a list of things can eat/avoid. Also need to do a one week prick test before and after meals and sent the readings to gynae. Luckily if control diet, the reading was acceptable and so didnt need for further tests except to continue controlling diet.

Doctor said that it was a temporary diabetes and not to worry too much about it. Anything in your opinion to watch out for? I was so shocked at the result because my family doesn't have a history of diabetes and kind of glazed over.

I'm hoping I could find other mamas here who are went through this and get some tips and tricks of how to prevent complications. Do i only have to do the prick test after every meal or even after i have snacks? Any side effects that I need to be worried about?

You know what's the kicker? After the "remedial lesson", i saw a brochure outside that said i could get some GD insurance that came with a free OGTT test for only like 50bucks. If only i saw that earlier. It was called vitana. Have you heard of it? http://www.vitana.sg/ There's a payout of 2k. Apparently my insurance doesn't cover GD. :(

Yes its temporary. It went away after giving birth. My family also doesnt have a history of diabetes too. But my reading was pretty high.

No tips or tricks. Just follow gynae's advice.. though i "cheated" and did not follow the diet the last wk before EDD. The prick test i did for a week. Forgot the instructions already.

Nope. Nvr heard before. Maybe it's new. And i wont be eligible cos i have history of GD.
