Hi all, my LO is 1 mth old now. Since we come back from hospital, he is not sleeping well. During the first 2 weeks he can sleep ard 4hrs. But on the 3rd week, he wake up every 2hrs, and now even worst, sleep ard 1hr every time (even at night) and wake up. So we listen to our parent and let him slp on yaolan, but his slp only get better on the first time we put him in, can slp for 2hr. Aft that same thing happen, once we stop rocking, he wake up, even we continue rock, he will wake up and cry ard 1hr. When we swaddle him while he is asleep, he will cry once he start moving and wake up, so we didnt swaddle him from the 2nd week. So now where can we seek advice for my LO problem? Should we look for lactation consultant or PD? Btw We have bring him to a PD last week, and the PD advice to use nose spray to clear his nose, massage his stomach and take gripe water, but things still not improving. So want to see if any mums here can advice who should we go to for consultation? Thanks.

Hello mummy, 3 thing i would like you to check. 1st:room temp, 2nd: lighting condition 3rd: noise level.

Most child or for that matter most human sleep better in a cooler room, let say 24-26 degree, dark and quiet environment.

jia you.

Oh ya, another point, is there any funny smell in the room too. funny smell need not to smelly smell, it can also be overpowering perfume too.

Hello SK81,

I am having the exact same problem with my 5 week old baby too. Also helpless and tired out of all the crying and waking (not only in the night) but for the whole day. What I garner from my mother's instinct (haha) on my own baby is that, every little one is different and baby like ours probably is just more sensitive to their surroundings then others that they wake up and cry so easily. My opinion is that PD would not be able to advice us further then what he already told you either so I would not choose to go to PD.

Instead, try whatever ways and advice that you personally truly believe in helping the situation, do it over and over again.

For me, I do the nasal spray, gripe drops in milk and ruyi oil once everyday.

Will wipe him all over with a warm cloth at least twice a day to keep him feeling fresh.

I also pat him to sleep almost every sleep time, use pacifier (occasionally), dream feeding (works best for me), let him sleep side way for a while while monitoring, keep talking to him to soothe him (not baby talk), put him in a 27 degree aircon room, keep the lights comfy in the day etc.

Because I have no idea what he actually needs so I would repeat these until he is satisfied. I understand the kind of frustration you are going through because I am, too, in the same shoes :'(

What I get from basically anyone is the piece of advice that "this is a passing phase" which of course I know and it's true, sighs. But I know it's terribly hard to go through! Jiayou! Hope situation gets better for you! And for me... :)
