Doula Support

Hi,

Is there any mom-to-be that planning of hiring a doula for her natural birth?

or Any previous experience with Doulas in Singapore?

Hi Hellen,
I think you first have to check with the hospital if they are ok with having a doula present during the delivery if you want the doula to be present during labour. Otherwise, you can use phone support.

Also, if you are attempting a natural birth, it is best that your gynae is also pro-natural so that he/she can guide you too.

In any case, you can check out either Parentlink or Four Trimisters

Hi Sasha,
I'm thinking of engaging doula support from Parentlink or Fourtrimester, that's why I changed the delivery hospital from KK to Mount A. Apparently KK is not recommended to have doula.

Did you use doula previously?

Hi Hellen,
Yes. Most 'government' hospitals will not allow the presence of a doula during labour/delivery. They just are not flexible in that sense.

I have never used a doula for my previous pregnancies but have friends who did use doulas. Have been thinking about using one myself as I am doing a water birth but will probably decide later

My friend gave birth 1 wk ago at glen E with doula's support (Four Trimisters). She is really glad that doula was there to help and give her full support, natural birth without epid of 3.7kg baby.

Highly recommended by my friend.
But I'm still considering if to hire one because not all hospital/gyna are ok to have doula during the delivery.
