Anyone bought Babywell Milk Expresso Machine

Hi,

Early tis yr, I've bought a Milk Expresso machine for a few hundred of dollars, thinkg that it might help us. However, the machine is now dumped aside unused.

This Milk Expresso Machine which I bought frm a local co BABYWELL, claimed that it is designed by a German engineer working in PSB. And that's y I tot it mus b very reliable. It claimed to be able to dispense the correct amt of milk powder and water at the touch of just a button consistently. In addition, it also has a compartment where milk bottles can be sterilised and another compartment where water can be boiled.
(website www.babywell.com)

I was so fastinated with the machine when I first came across it in the web and make an effort to visit the co to see a demo w my hubby. When we are at the co, we realised tt the co is a small newly setup

The person who did the demo was the CEO, who claimed to be an ex-accountant with a finance co. He mentioned that he had the idea of making such a machine and had got a PSB engineer to design it for him. And the machine is made in China.

During the demo, I asked him a few questions :
1) Can the machine dispense only powder so that I can check if the amount dispensed is correct and consisent.

-> He said it cannot but it is tested correctly in the lab.

2) Do I need to discard the remaining water in the sterilising compartment each time after I sterilised?

-> No need. There is very negigible amount of water left after each sterilising. If you really want, you can use a cloth to soak it, but you only need to do it once a month coz' there is really not much water.

3) What are the disadvantages of this machine?

-> He jokingly answered "If I tell you, it wil be a disadv to me, isnt it?"

My hubby and I had a discussion and decided to buy it. We are asked to issue a cash cheque and was then given an invoice with no invoice number.

After 2 days of usage, the machine stopped working. So, I called up to the CEO by the name P**** and tok to him bout tis prob. He sounds surprised and said that tis is the 1st time he recd a complaint. So far, no one complain anything. But he told me that he will call me back the next day to arrange someone to come to my house and have a look at the machine.

And there, he didnt call. So, I called him again and tis time, he asked me in a very blur tone "What happened to ur machine? What problem?" Like as if he has temporary memory loss.

In fact, I called up to CASE to see what I should do. And the officer told me that he is obviously trying to act blur and ask me to go down to provide him with the documents so that they can take over the case. But I thought of settling it amicably.

So,after some pestering, he finally agree to exchange a new unit. However, on the day of delivery, the delivery man called to change the time and we found that he was not given a new unit for the exchange. My hubby got so fed up and called P****. He acted blur again.

And finally when the new unit arrived, we found that the power cord of the new unit cannot be fixed to the machine itself. Wrong Size!!! We nego with the delivery man to take the power cord of the old machine to fix to the new machine. We had a chat wif the delivery man and he said that P**** is his friend and he is only helping him coz' he juz started his business. But he is also angry wif P**** for his customer service.

When I thought it is all over, my baby decided not to drink the milk made by this machine. I then take a look at the milk and found that it is so diluted. Initially I thot it is the first few times that the milk would be diluted. I opened a new can of milk powder and tested throughout and found that the milk is never consistently made. Normally, diluted and that's why my baby does not want. I even buy a weighing machine to make sure I have the correct weight of the powder which is manually scooped out of the tin to make the milk and compare it with the colour of the milk made by the machine.

Also, he lied about the water in the sterilising compartment. I had to soak up more than 50ml of water every 3 times I do sterilising.

One of my friends told me that she didnt buy it coz' someone told her that the amt of powder dispensed is not accurate.

I really regret spending that kinda $$. Could hv used that $$ to buy more toys for my son....

oh dear... sounds like a really nasty experience.. hope you can get your money back for all the hassle and trouble..

Hi Tuffy,

Thx 4 ur understanding.

I dont tink I will call them back to ask for any refund. I dont wan to go thru the hassle again. Just my luck loh...

Just want to check if there are some others who hv bought the machine and see if they have probs as well..

Hi Leon Mummy,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I also thought it is an interesting machine which may be useful. Luckily I read your post.

I didn't know it was designed by a PSB engineer. Actually I worked in PSB before. Those engineers there are very lousy, no matter which country they are from.

Dear Leon,
Maybe the machine u got was a faulty one. i bought one unit myself, so far ok, been using it for one month plus, everything seems alright leh... but i will tzke note of the dispensing of milk see whether is it too diluted. i understand ur concern, we mothers of course worry cos too diluted milk is no good for the baby. maybe u want to use the machine to dispense adult milk for yourself to make the machine useful?

Hi Leon Mummy,

Thanks for sharing this. Had wanted to get it when I first saw it.

Hi Pamela,

It's not cheap. $388 without d/c, $348 w d/c.

Hi Tamarind,

Yes, when I first saw it, I was v fastinated. So, at that time, my own idea is to buy and make our life easier. You noe, my son is one who cannot possibly wait for even 1 second for his milk at night when he wakes up.

Yes, it is designed by a PSB engineer from germany. The CEO said tt himself and it is printed on his packaging box. But i am surprised. I tot the engineers from PSB shld hv good stds esp those expatriates.

Actually my hubby is also from designing background. He has a Japanese mentor who is an expert in design, and he is now designing a powder dispensing machine for a medicine company in Japan. We r considering to send him the machine for some opinions.

Hi Selina,

So urs is ok.

I got a friend (working mum) who recently bought for her maid to use (b4 knowing my case) is also complaining tt the milk made is diluted some times. She needs to always open up the top cover to shake the milk powder compartment. also, same complaint about the water tt she has to soak up at the sterilising area.

I tot of changing the machine wif him again. But this is already the 2nd machine. And wif his kind of customer service, before I call him again, I already felt so tired.

And that's y I dont even intend to go to CASE coz' it takes time. Both me and my hubby r running our own biz, and my hubby travelling to japan so often. We still hv to take care of my boy at night. No MIL or mother or maid to help. To think bout it, so wasting time and making myself so angry when talking to that CEO!

Hi pamela,

Yes not cheap. SGD388.

I juz wan to share my bad exp so that everyone can be more careful in their buying of such an expensive machine and tt after the purchase, got to observe it carefully.

Initially i didnt tell ppl about my experience coz' I am worried it might wreck their reputation. But money is a side issue to me. Like selina said, we mothers of course worry that our babies r taking lesser nutrients.

Leon's mummy,
mine is ok just that i m returning to work soon n my mum dun like using it si tot of selling it. if cant sell maybe i will use it for myself

hi Leon's mummy,
sorry to hear of your story. but mine unit was ok and working well. in fact i am glad they come up with this machine. Besides many prams or strollers sold at more more expensive price than it.

i bought this machine. so far ok. the lady who was very patient and explained how the process goes thru. As for being too diluted, there is a part whereby it is default set 80% of the concentration of milk powder. we need to set it to 100% manually before we use it.

Anyone wants to buy this machine? Have a brand new unused set for sale at $300. Got it as a gift but got a maid to make milk so never needed to use it.

Pls PM me.

Haha, karen i think they are complaining abt the product and you are selling it.

Anyway i saw the standee at kiddy palace and was quite amazed. Thought of buying it too but son was already 1 year old. Anyway thanks leon mummy for your feedback. I dont think i will get it for my second kid

doll, i have checked : The machine is set to 100%.

Well, they may have upgraded the machine now, I hope. The boss' service has been good during sales stage as well, and that's Y I have bought that machine. BUT he turns lousy & forgetful & siam me when things go wrong. This is the thing that I am trying to highlight : For things to be used by babies, the company should be very concerned to solve it, regardless wat is the quantity. Just in case, there is a batch of pdtn which is faulty, it is always the manufacturers' responsibility to check it more thoroughly and not brush off the problem so lightly. It is a kid we are talking about here.

Told some of my friends who was wondering why I have bought it since it is not difficult to make milk for baby. I am always on lookout for gadgets to make my life easier. But I thot my friends are right, making milk wasnt that difficult afterall.

million thanks to Leon's Mummy, i am a mummy that buy everything the best and the most expensive for my daughter ... luckily after i read your post you have help me to save my money !!

million thks!

Hi Leon's Mummy, I am surprised to read your comments. You must be the unlucky one. I understand they had sold many in Singapore already.

I have been using this machine since I stop breast feeding about 10 months ago. My son is healthily into 12 months now. I didn't find those problems you mentioned leh. The sales person explained very well to us how to setup and maintain the machine. I had hardly any problem with it. It is such a blessing especially during the night when my baby cried. My hubby and I depended on it so much! Like 2 other frens of mine, yours must be the early version. I saw quite a number of upgrade features when i compared with their machines. But they didn't complain of anything though. One of their baby is about 17-18 months by now. I really wouldn't hesistate to recommend to anyone who can afford it.

I want to buy one but I don't live in Singapore. Does anyone knows where I can buy one online? I tried www.babywell.com but looks like they took down their website. Do you know if they are still in business?

Also, is anyone using their latest updated model? Any problem/defect? Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Babywell Espresso machine is a waste of money and doesn't work. Singapore office will communicate with you until you have paid for the machine then will ignore all emails with complaints afterwards. Moms do not waste money on this disaster of a machine

A baby store stopped selling it due to negative feedback, but I’m not sure if it’s because of how the machine works or just aesthetics.
