I need a gynae who believes in total natural birth and breastfeeding and is experienced in vbac.

Any other suggestions r welcomed

When you mentioned natural birth and breastfeeding and VBAC - i can only think of one - Paul Tseng at TMC.

Hi, my first appointment with Dr KH Chan is coming soon. Anyone has any experience with him before? heard he can be rather pricey.. Thanks!

hi Michelle,

I saw Dr Chan KH for my #1 and I'm with him again for #2. Yes, he's quite pricey compared to most other gynaes, but he's very experienced and I feel safe in his hands. I know many healthcare professionals including doctors who go to him for delivery.

He's got superb stitching skills - I didn't have any pain from my natural delivery and was able to walk the moment the epidural wore off.

The only thing is that he's very concerned about the mummy's weight gain - he will nag if you put on too much weight during the pregnancy, but then again I do understand his concern for gestational diabetes if we gain too much weight.

Hope this helps!

Hi Michelle & mama_lemon,

I am also seeing Dr Chan KH and this is my #1. He is highly recommended and i feel very comfortable with him.

Michelle, is this your first?

Mama_lemon,
Can you remember how much is his package? He has not gone through with me on his packages yet.
How many weeks are you now?

Hi Adeline,

Dr Chan's package starting at 20 weeks costs $888, and is inclusive of routine scheduled visits and basic prenatal vitamins (excluding DHA).

His nurses will advise you on the package during the 20 week visit. His package is quite reasonable considering that 3D scans are included at each visit from 2nd trimester onwards provided the baby is in a good "viewing" position.

However, his delivery charges are on the high side - if I remember correctly, his natural delivery charges starts at 2k, assisted natural delivery is 3k, and c-section is 4k. His post-natal room visits to you at the hospital costs $250 per visit so these add up to quite a bit during delivery.

Even though he's considered rather costly, I'm still with him for #2 for his experience and his excellent stitching skills - totally worth the $ for not having to go through episiostomy pain!

Hope this helps!
