ADVICE Needed: My 11mth still REFUSE BOTTLE, how can I wean her off BF.

Hi mummies,

My 11 month refuse to take bottle, only want to be latch on all the time.. I need to work soon so I try be it is express BM or formula milk, I have tried Avent, Pigeon, NUK, Tommy Tippy, bottles....I even try to offer pacifier she refuse too... I change milk powder from similac to NAN, I give her cup feed, sippy cup, syringe. Struggle till she hungry n she can just simply cry n no strength to fight n doze off.. I cry and give in... She have show sign of dehydration n constipation.

Can anyone help me and advice what is the best way to offer bottle... And she suck me every hour or 2-3 hour while she sleep at night. She used to sleep thru around 3mth old but not now? And I have introduce solid and slowly cutting down on the feed. ... She need my breast especially during nap and bed time.

Hi,

U hv never let her drink from EBM from milk bottle? If so, this is going to be very hard coz ur girl is used to this sleeping habit. Since she is on solids, it can be very simple. Just give her lots of water in the day time, during breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner.

Probably she is also teething at this age, hence quite difficult. Give her more solids. Bottle feed will be best given by another caregiver. Could it be also because the weather nowadays are too hot? If you have air-con at home, try turn it ON.

More importantly, try to be firm. My stubborn son only kicks off his pacifier habit beyond 18 months. We managed to wean it off because we are firm with him and he cries for 3 days.

Am also facing similar challenge. Bb dun want bottle n pacifier. She's less than 2 mths old n I was hoping to train her to use bottle soon. Tried getting someone else to give bottle, dun seem to work too

I hv similar issue too. My bb is 9 wks old. Refuse both bottles n pacifier. Tried my hubby n mum both also dun want. She will cry n cry n exhausted n went to sleep. Heart pain to see her like that. But I need to go back work in may. So I need her to do bottle. Any one can advise?

Is it because of the milk bottle? So far, Tommie Tippee works & Playtex works for my 2 bb. Both r wide neck type. R they having colic since they r so young? Or they r not hungry, just sleepy?

I've read article abt nipple confusion.... not too sure they r this case. Otherwise, try to let someone else to feed & do it in the dark. Choose a good milk bottle tat is closer to breast teat....

I've tried NUK n Avent bottles. She seemed more receptive to NUK probably due to the shape. Will continue to try in this direction. Will try tommee...
For pacificers, I've tried NUK latex, avent, pigeon and tommee tippee.. None seems to work very well so far

I tried avent, pigeon n nuk, she took nuk for one wk n after that refused again. I just bought tommee, hoping it will work. Funny thing is that she actually take nuk pacificer
