Hi Forummers,

1st time father so I'm rather lost. Wifey discovered pregnant last week and Gynae estimate around 5 weeks. so I'm still blur about things.

The Gynae advise us to eat better and also advise us to drink maternity milk power like those mamil or dumex type. But the thing is wifey doesn't like the taste of powered milk (even before pregnant).

Now she seem to be more sensitive to food as the morning sickness slowly kicking in. Took a few sips and she dunwant already. Added abit of milo doesn't help to cover the taste.

I duwant her to be weak during this period. Any advise what can I replace as effective supplements?

Currently, she's on folic, precripted vit B and C and duphaston.

also, doc advise not to take certain cheese, yest we eating mac and the shaker fries got cheese content, is that kind safe?

Cheese - Ok to eat the everyday usual variety. Don't go for those gourmet type (blue, blie, etc) and you should be ok. Cheese is good alternative to milk.

Drinks, milk, etc - Whatever that the mommy would tolerate, at the amount she finds tolerable. Everything in moderation. Be careful of sugar content in powdered milk and other drinks (again, in moderation) because too much of anything is no good.

Go with the flow, everything okay in moderation, and don't self prescribe her supplements or medicine. All the best; and Congratulations!

wow thanks for the advise...so sugar is dangerous? Just remembered got a friend who had diabetes during pregnancy.....thanks for the tip...

Sugar itself isn't dangerous, but gestational diabetes might be. Therefore, I was careful not to over-consume. What I did was to make sure that I share my drinks (Coke, coffee, tea, etc); and share my cakes and pastries with someone else. Avoid dried fruits if possible - it tend to be addictive and contains a lot of sugar.
