Ttc should be fine with chinese medicine. There are some herbs that can pssoibly help u conceive. U can ask the shopkeeper. I know of one that resembles a 'wood' is good for ttc but super expensive like 1 jing is $30-$50 something like that. Really pricey but ppl said is good, didn't try it tho.

Sorry but perhaps I am not quite a believer of acupuncture. I am more a massage person. Massages can also help your blood circulation.

hi ladies,
i'm not new to this thread. i was here a year ago to go through iui. after i failed my first iui, i was so sad and depressed. i cried a lot. because my dream was to be a mother and we've tried for 5 yrs. finally after 3 failed iui and 1 failed ivf fresh cycle, i'm pregnant from frozen embryos. i can't believe it!!!! my hcg is high D-14-2000+ and D-16-6000+. dr foong said looks like twins. but we are worried that it'll be triplets as i'm a small size person. going for scan on this saturday. so excited!!!

hi soho,
this is not your first one, right? natural or ivf? have u delivered at gleneagles before? do u know the charges for delivery? sorry, long winded. i'm excited as this is my first time.

hi lena,
i'm also weak emotionally. i cried a lot whenever i failed. but now it's worth all my hard work and tears. and we r on the top of the world :-) u got naturally for the first one?
i went for scan last saturday. it's not twins, only one. a bit disappointed. but dr foong said it's better for me.
now the morning sickness is killing me. but it's nothing compare to my ttc journey. i told my husband we will try for another one once this baby is about one yr old. we can try it only when we r young. so if u really want second one, don't think too much. i encourage u to go for it. :-)

hi mrswee,
dr foong usually doesn't straight away go for ivf. my first consultation with him on december 2009. i was like u, wanted to go for ivf straight as we were trying to conceive for years. he monitor my cycles and started with iui. only after i failed 3 iui, he suggested me to go for ivf. so i started my ivf on october 2010. i heard there are many patients got pregnant through iui too. that's why he always gives chances to patient. ivf is more stressful and need to spend a lot of money.
i never emailed dr foong before. i don't know his email address too. usually i call the clinic if i want to speak to him.
don't give up. stay positive. :-)

hi angeline,

Not my 1st, but I am not picking Gleneagles to deliver. I have compared the hospital rates and quite similar to most other except their suites are higher priced. For delivery rate with gynae u have to check with Dr F.

Soho, do you have remaining embryos frozen for future use?

Are you considering to try again next year? I have the intention and wonder if Dr Foong allows in such a short period of time.

hi lena,
so u conceived naturally for the 1st one. i have a friend who conceived naturally for the 1st one and she tried again for the 2nd one for about 5-6 yrs. but i think she never see any dr for ttc. she is now 3 months pregnant again. also naturally. i can see that she is very happy. so u don't give up, ok.

hi Angel,
if i'm not wrong, i paid around $1000 each for iui. but it depends on what type of medication u need. for me, i paid about $400-500 for medications and iui cost is around $500.
for ivf, i paid around $16000 (ivf+embryo transfer). but i failed the first time. so i paid again about $3000 for frozen embryo transfer. day ward stay included.

Hi baby 79,
tks. yah, i'm also surprise that i'm not having twins. dr foong said when he saw my first hcg which was 2600+, he thought it's twins or more. and when he saw my second hcg which was 6000+, he already knew it may be single. he said first hcg was very high, because baby is healthy. i don't know because of my high hcg or not, my morning sickness is very bad.
so u deliver your twins at gleneagles? natural delivery? for me, i may need the c-sect as my cervix is narrow. how much u spent for delivery and hospital stay? by the way, how old are your babies? u r so lucky that u had twins.

Angeline
When my hcg is 356 on d12.. Dr f say its high and likely is twins... Then when its 599 on d14... dr f says maybe one twin implant but did not grow.. Cos the hcg did not double..
So im surprise when the scan shows two sacs... Totally didnt expect it.. Not prepared at all...

High hcg usually will cause morning sickness.. It will most likely go away after first tri.. So hang in there ya..

Yes i delivered at glen... C sect cos i have total previa.. Cant deliver naturally... My delivery charges is abt $7k.. Cos i went
thru emergency c sect...

My twins is 3 mths old now... Yup i count myself lucky to strike with twins.. But i succeed only at the 2nd fresh ivf cycle... I failed numerous of iuis too... Dr f says my twins is to make up for lost time haha..But its really not easy to take care of two bbs... So it may be good to be a singleton then try again for the second one few yrs later...

babe 79,
i also wanted to have twins to make up for the time that we lost. but i'm thinking, if it's twins, my morning sickness may be worst. so like u said, may be good to be a singleton, then will try again for the second one later. i still have 8 frozen embryos.
i'm a bit scared of c-sect. was it under GA? was it painful after that?
$7K is including ward stay? i heard we need to stay about 6 days in the hospital.
congratulation for your twins!!! boys or girls?

Yes my c sect is under ga.. U can opt for epi.. But cos mine is emergency c sect so must be under ga..
Ga yr hb cant go into ot with u... Epi can...
The wound is quite painful when u move yr tummy area.. But the pain is managable.. Painkillers is given.. Put a binder.. It will help with the pain..

Im having two princesses... :-)

I stayed abt 4 days i thk.. Cant remember...

hi babe 79,
oh, u strike two girls. they must be very cute. if i see twins, i can't take my eyes off from them. last time, my dream was to be a mother of three daughters. i prefer girls. but after i went through my hard ttc journey, now all i want is just to have a child. doesn't matter boy or girl. we can't choose anyway. :-)
my husband said i'm just two months prgenant and already worry for delivery. my EDD is on 14 oct.

Haha.. When i look at my girls.. I cant get enough of them..
It feels like a dream sometimes when im looking at them... Cant believe im finally a mummy.. A dream comes true..

I do not have a preference of boy or girl.. Being able to get pregnant its aldy a big blessing.. But of cos i did hope to get a boy-girl twins.. Hehe... But im just as happy to have two girls!

Do enjoy yr pregnancy now.. Cos i miss my pregnancy alot now that i have delivered.. Miss the big tummy.. Miss the bbs movement and kicks.. Miss the shopping with bbs inside me.. Miss the couple times with hb... Miss those long sleeping time... Cos once bbs are out.. Sleeping and couple times without bbs are a luxury...

Btw taka baby fair is starting soon.. U can go take a look.. Thou its still early for u now to buy bb items... U can go take baby list from taka to have a idea of what are the tins u will need to buy..

When u see yr bb for the first time.. U will know its really a dream comes true... So true for people like us who tried so hard to conceive...

Haha sounds like u really like to have twins... There is adv of having only one bb.. Easier pregnancy... May not need additional help to take care bb... Able to bring bb out alone.. With twins.. Its totally a diferrent story... Most of the time im stuck at home with the bbs.. Cant go out alone with the two bbs... Sleep is deprieved... Hands are so full sometimes that u dont even have time to eat...

Yup go see bb tins is a great pleasure esp for first time mtb!!
Enjoy yr shopping!

U have v bad morning sickness? Think of the bright side.. Morning sickness is another way to tell yr bb is progressing v well... Thou im the lucky ones who do not have serious morning sickness.. Only have mild nausea sometimes.. Can even travel overseas during my 3rd mth...

The binder was given to me by dr f.. But i thk u can get it from any pharmacy... There are sizes...

hi babe 79,
it's true that can't go out alone with two bbs and i can feel that u must be very busy taking care of them. i think if i have twins, i don't know whether i'll be able to cope with my morning sickness. now my morning sickness is quite bad. i vomit everyday. nausea 24 hours. and cannot eat and drink well. sometimes my lunch or dinner is just one or two pieces of biscuit. but like u said, i encourage myself that morning sickness is a way to tell me that my bb is progressing well.
i have a appointment with dr foong on 25th. after appt, me and my hubby will go to taka baby fair. tks for the info.

Hmm... Seems yr morning sickness is quite bad.. Probably due to yr high hcg..
Endure another one more mth and things will get better when u hit 2nd tri..
Take more biscuits.. It will help with the nausea..
Dont eat those foods that has very strong smell or taste..
Enjoy yr pregnancy!

i only told him that i'm having very bad morning sickness. i'm now 9 wks plus. i have appt with him next wk. i'll mention about my vomiting then. actually, i'm afraid to take anymore medicine as seeing medicines make me want to vomit more.
i'm worried about my baby only. hope my vomiting wont effect the fetus.
by the way, gleneagles provided any take away for baby after u delivered? i heard thomson provide baby bathtub.

Im sure vomitting wont affect yr baby.. Dont worry too much.. U are aldy in yr 9weeks... Hitting 2nd tri soon.. It will be the period where pregnancy is the most enjoyable.. Go shopping for bb items during this stage.. Cos when u hit 3rd tri u will et tired more easily.. And u will be more heavy by then..

Glen e dont give away bath tub.. They give a delivery bag where there are free small items like baby wash, clothes etc..
U can get nice cheap bathtub frm ikea for $12 i think.. U can also go shop for changing table, drawers frm ikea.. I find the changing table very useful... But of cos when bb grow bigger the table cant use liao..

babe 79,
i heard some experience morning sickness through out pregnancy. i hope i'm not one of them. i think i'm thinking too much. sometimes i have to remind myself that i shouldn't worry too much. not good for baby. :-) i'm just counting my days to go into 2nd tri.
yah, i forgot about ikea. will go there for shopping when i'm about 5-6 months. $12 for bathtub is quite cheap. u can use changing table for your 3rd one when your babies grow bigger. ha ha. i still have to try hard for 2nd one again after this. but for u, u already had two girls. u can relax.

Actually I didn't buy changing table, drawers for my 1st child. I changed baby on the bed (much more space) and drawers just used what I had at home. Like tat saved space and money.

Angeline: I think some ppl experience morning sickness only in 1st trimester and then it goes away after that. Seldom hear people have it thru the pregancy, it have, then must be tough.

Change on the bed not too good for our back.. Use changing table better cos it will not strain our back.. Its impt to protect our back after delivery..

soho,
i'm now into 12 wks. next wk, i'm officially into 2nd tri. so happy.

baby,
my morning sickness is slightly better. i told dr foong that i'm vomiting 2-3 times a day. but dr foong didn't mention about anti-nausea medicine. so i also didn't ask for it as he said i should get better next few wks.
me and my hubby saw baby hands moving and legs kicking. suprised. didn't expect to see it too early. i was so happy and almost cry. that feeling cannot change with anything. baby is 4.4cm. i'll see dr foong again in one month time.
we didn't go to taka fair as i felt giddy. looking forward for another baby fair.
hmmmm, yesterday i quarrelled with my sister. i was so angry. my husband asked me to calm down as it's not good for baby. after i calm down, i felt sorry for baby. :-(

Hi all, I'm searching for a gd ivf doctor. How is dr lc foong? Is he mainly gd for 'after u get pregnant' care or also good at fertility issues. Have already done 3 times so iui under another dr but sad that still no success.

Thinking of switching... Also is dr foong ok with transfer patients? Hv heard of horror cases of dr who demand that patients redo all the tests before they accept them and I don't think I take it if got to go thru all again.

hi white tiger, dr f is a great doctor and i would highly recommend him for fertility issues and general obgyn care. He's also very easy to transfer to, he won't make you repeat tests (unless they are outdated, like more than 6 months ago type).

I've done my fair-share of doc shopping and have no regrets doing ivf with him (even tho i haven't succeeded...yet!)

whitetiger,
for me, dr foong is a very caring and good dr. i failed 3 iui and 1 ivf fresh cycle. but i told my husband that i would stick to dr foong no matter what. and finally i'm 12 wks pregnant from frozen embryo.
i'll say that he is good at fertility issues and also good for 'after pregnant'. i'm very comfortable with him.
but i'm not sure he will ask u to redo all the tests or not. i think it should be ok if your tests were done recently. make sure u get all the test results from current dr before u change.
for me, i brought pap smear result from previous dr. so dr foong asked me to skip it.

Usual practise is bt on d14... Thats all..
But some request for another bt to feel more assured.. To see whether hcg increase/double...
Or when hcg is low on d14, dr f may request for another bt.

u r doing ivf with dr foong? i don't know any food that increase follicles. for me, dr foong did a few scans before egg collection and adjusted the dose of injections. good luck for your ivf next month.

Thanks Angeline. Is the whole process from injection to egg collection relatively painless? Initially wanted to take 1 mth off for ivf,but now looks like not possible.

whitetiger,
inject your own tummy sounds scary. but actually, is not painful. egg collection is done under sedation and about 20 mins only. so i will say the whole process of ivf was physically ok for me. except i was mentally stress for the result.

Angeline is right.. When u embark on ivf journey.. The physical pain is nothing compared to the mental stress in awaiting for the results during the 2ww...

U can try to eat more egg whites for protein to increase yr follicles.. I also had chicken essence to boast my egg quality.. Thou not sure whether these helps but no harm trying...

Luck plays a very impt role in ivf... If it fails.. Dont blame yrself.. Cos i believe u will need lOts of luck to succeed ivf..

Hi ladies, I am wondering if you guys know if Dr F treats patients with recurrent miscarriages? I have lost 2 preg (both chemical) in 6 mths and am very down now. I already have a son who will be turning 3 soon. I have no problems conceiving him. for my first and 2nd preg (which ended in chemical preg) i strike on the first try. However, from my 2nd preg to the 3rd one (which just ended today) took me 6 mths. Had to resort to IUI to get the 3rd. We found out that hb has gd counts but very poor morphology and motility.

Any of u had recurrent miscarriages? what did Dr F do? can share with me? I am gg to see him on 9th May.

Yup.. My girls are abt 5mths old now..
Hands are so full with them.. But its a joy too!

One of my girl also have very low placenta.. Mine is total previa.. Means the placenta blocks the cervix opening.. So i cant do natural birth.. And also it wont have a chance to shift up cos its total blockage..
If yrs is only partial previa, it may shift up in the later stage of pregnancy..

Angeline,
My last visit was on 17 weeks but we were not able to see anything as the position that we could capture was from the side only. My next visit with him will be on 21 weeks and detailed scan on 20 weeks.

Are you eating the calcium pills that he provided? I always get very heaty eating the calcium pills and ended up not eating them.

Calcium pills are not heaty.. Are u taking iron pills also? Cos usually iron pills are heaty and may make u constipated.. Got to drink lots of water..
Its impt to take calcium.. Yr bb needs in to grow their bones and u will too lose calcium when u deliver bbs...

Angeline
I didnt take package with dr f cos i have twins.. Multiples cant have package...
Sometimes its not advisable to have package also.. Cos u may deliver earlier and having package means u paid for the visits when u didnt use...
It doesnt matter whether there is package or not as long as u like the gynea and he/she deliver safely for u..

Yes, i felt it at 17weeks. It is like butterfly feeling, kinda hard to describe. I think it is more obvious when you are lying on your back. As time goes by, it will be more obvious and frequent.

Btw, are you working? if yes, do you face any employer problem?

Lucky you. :-) How long you tried before you seek Dr Foong's help?

Hubby says I will be very bored at home if I don't work so insists i should work to pass time.

Yea.. Such shit does happen, especially in SME. Now, i just concentrate on the pregnancy. Just another 4th mths endurance i guess. Else, very sayang of the ML entitlement.

Btw, I went for my detailed scan yesterday and found out mine was a prince despite my round tummy. :-) U?

i'm married for 5 yrs and tried for 3yrs before i seek dr foong's help. i wish i met him earlier. actually it's more stressful staying at home and waiting to get pregnant.
don't care about problems at work. just concentrate on your pregnancy. that's the most important thing for us. only we know how precious is our pregnancy life.
mine, most likely a prince too. but not confirmed yet. i'll see dr foong next week. my detail scan will be three weeks later. can't wait to go for it. did the sonographa tell u the result straight away after detail scan? i'm very nervous.

Angeline,
Ic, i got married for 4yrs and had an ectopic pregnancy 1/2 yr after marriage. Then can't conceive due to blocked tubes. Luckily Dr Foong allowed me to carry out with ivf soon after consultation.
Well, easier said that done, they are trying to load up my work now. I just need to stay positive though.

Keke.. well, my case is abit comical. Everyone guess mine is a girl so naturally I had the conception is a girl. My sonographer was very friendly, i told her that I still don't know bb gender. She immediately helped me check and luckily bb wasn't shy. (Within seconds of the scan, I was informed of bb's gender) Actually, I think it depends how cooporative baby is at the point of scan. I think i was lucky enough to complete the scan in 15mins. Phew...

I think the trick is to talk to your baby before the scan, ask bb to be cooporative ya. :-)

babies AF,
i'm looking forward for my detail scan. last time wanted baby girl. now after years of trying hard to conceive, it doesn't matter anymore. will love my prine with my whole heart. :-)
actually, i don't have any major problem. the only problem is narrow cervix which we found out during iui. and my hubby has sperm quality problem. so i thought doing ivf would help for me. but i failed the fresh cycle. i cried a lot. i thought may be i have unexplained infertility which i think is very scary. but now i'm pregnant from frozen embryo.:-)

Piggywiggy,

I just saw your message hope I m not too late.
I had a miscarriage abt 6 weeks for #2. The embryo just stopped developing.
So when I was preg 3rd time, dr f put me on baby aspirin as a precaution and other usual vitamins during pregnancy.
I am not sure if he has a specific treatment for recurrent misxarriges but I read that Nuh has a treatment for that.

Jadefeet, thank you for taking the time to reply me. I saw Dr F earlier than expected as he had a cancellation and his nurses bumped my case up. I had a very intense 20 mins discussion with him abt my case and he wasn't very happy with my old gynae aft i told him what my old gynae did. we weren't even told what hb's SA results meant. Dr F had to explain what it meant to us!

Anyway he told me that i have to take a few tests to rule out unlying problems. so he has me scheduled for a D2 blood test and a D10 scan. Half of me hope that they find out the prob and treat it.. but i have to say Dr F is very very nice. he took the time to call me PERSONALLY to tell me the results of my hb's hormone panel. I find that very refreshing as i didn't even need to hear his nurse telling me to hold on and to transfer the line to the doc.

Hopefully he can solve my prob.. i m so desperate to be a mom again.

I suffer fr incompetent cervix and nearly lost bb if not for dr f's early detection of the opening cervix n perform an emergency op.. The remaining 12 weeks were gruelling n try to pass each day at a time. Dr f had been a great support then.. Every week he saw me, hr never fail to encourage the milestone.. And never once felt any impatience when I appear at the labour ward almost at least every week for contraction..
Dr f is really a very caring doctor. Am blessed to meet such an experienced and patient doctor..

Piggy,
don't feel hopeless.. My hubby had poor sperm count poor morphology and I have bad ovulation. And yet I got preg naturally after 3 yes of TTC and the 2nd n 3rd time also strike within 6 mths of trying. Jia you Jia you!!
You are in good hands

Angeline
yes we are all very blessed...
btw, dr f is very good at c section. I wad walking ard the ward next day after removing the urine catheter. With pain killers n tummy binder the pain is manageable. And the scar healed very nicely...
I did it under epi... Bb out in 5 min and dr f took his time abt 1 hr to slowly sew back the wound..I was happily chatting with my hubby n doc's hahhahaah
u know by then all I wan is to get bb out safely.. Pain or not didn't matter anymore..

jadefeet,
most likely i'm going for c-sect too. now i'm enjoying my pregnancy life. but everyday i have worries about whether my baby is ok inside my womb. if possible, i want to go for ultrasound every week to see my baby. ha ha. i'm counting my days to give birth. did u have to go back to take out the stitches after c-sect? planned c-sect is usually early in the morning, right?

kpringring,
r u talking about ttc package? i think he treats every patients differently according to our problems. for me, after preconception check up, i went for 3 iui and then ivf.

sofia,
i tried jabs for iui last yr. the cost will depend on the amount of medicines for the jab that u need. if i'm not wrong, i spent about $1000 (jabs + iui) for each cycle. and went through 3 iui in total.
