I have the set of chinese book at home.
A fren told me tat it's good but i haven gotten round to let Meg read it.
Quite a lot of books I bot from Dang Dang are still unopen 
Lately like bo time lidat.
If you dun mind digging then it's ok to check out the Borders expo sale.
I am going tmr morning since am on my way to meet frens for lunch. |

i also like Pat Hutchins' books. very simple words but cheem meanings, wah.....
borders ah, usually worth going cos the books are in good condition, not the crappy ones like MPH and Times. but of course the discounts aren't deep lah. bot loads of hardcovers the last time they held it at Suntec |

Oh no hv additional discount? A DUI....how much is it? I decided not to buy when at the cashier!!!! Wow piang.....yes, I queued for about 2 hrs...only left the place ard 3pm!!!! But worth going this trip....nex time p,s let me know if still hv the border massive sale yah....;) bought dr seuss box set...for only $10.... Those board book with flap open type and the dr seuss audio book is only $10 with ard 10 books....

hmmm, i just did a price comparison. Robert the Rose Horse hardback costs USD8.12 at BD w/o discount. at acmamall it's SGD12.75 after discount (18%). acmamall has some children books on discount so might be able to get some good buys but the website not stable, keeps hanging when searching |

thanks. my colleague is also going to JP, so i'll give her my list instead. no need to bother you since got so many things + 2 kiddies to worry abt :p
yah, i give them 5 pages minimum of homework to do everyday on weekdays. E likes to do them but C as usual lah, wants to siam... LOL. weekends rest and play nia, no homework
i started them on homework a few months back, slowly can see improvements, esp for Maths as it needs constant practice. nothing too complicated. just want to keep their brains well-oiled, har har har!
i stepped up on their homework when i saw how difficult the P1 textbooks are. some friends warned that kids are EXPECTED to be able to read when they enter P1 and they have problem sums for Maths... i really can't imagine. it's so stressful for the poor kids. and the chinese books, wah, i see liao, wanna peng san. got hanyu pinyin & the characters are difficult! if you have a chance, pop into a bookstore and see the P1 assessment books, you'll know what i mean and then perhaps start to panic like me, war har har har har |

Ya very pressurizing for us parents like we are the one going to school hiaz.... N also need to finish 5 worksheets a day if not wait till mummy's back hehehe.
My frd's child just failed all subjects and in Pr.5 now. She told me from Pr 4 to 5 is a huge difference thats why cannot cope. |

I already pAnicked some times back Liao...but c1 is in full day cc n can' t really giVe much hm to do as by the time we come home from parent's plc already 7 or 8 pm Liao....
So when she comes back...At times I gave her only 2 or 3 pageS to do but not everyday loh...but every Friday she needs to finish her school hm work 1st then wkemds I will Try to make sure she do her hm those that I give her b4 lunch...
Sigh sigh...these days yes really pity the kids.....also lately I dun really buy toys for her....I would rather buy more books for her.... |

Does ur gals play with cars etc? C1 is into cars and she also like fire engine!!! She knows almost all the different brands of cars and their logos....jaguar, mercs, BMW, Honda, Ferrari etc.....can faint!!!! Dun know is it good or baD.... |

i dun really care lah, C also plays cars with E and she's even rougher than him! E plays cooking and has a baby doggy that he carries ard. as long as he doesn't behave 娘娘腔 i'm ok. C also always insist that E cannot play with her girl toys, but i tell her boy or girl toys, also must share. pink-colored toys not only for girls, boys also can play; only clothes cannot share. then she LL lor! heh heh heh
at least she's behaving better now, sometimes even ask nicely, "Eytan, can I play with you?" wah.... |

Ur ah ma cancel her trip to japan boh? We are going to call up the hotels and airline to cancel. My friend in japan said better not go as the government mentioned that there will still be aftershock for about a mth and also they are told to save eclectricity from tomOrrow till end April!!! There will no be electricity during certain hrs in the day and nite.....my friend's bro is still stuck in the office in Tokyo and not able to go home.

Went populAr expo sale just now....so these days so stressful leh....was browsing books and over heard a fe mummies recommending this book that book to the mummies..And guess wat.....they are looking at N1 only and saw some mummies...wow...took so so many assessments for N1 , N2....Scary leh....
Hb lately complained to me Why gives so much hw to c1!!! I said not much leh compare to others plus She dun do everyday!!! I only give 1 or 2 pAges on each subject!! Also she enjoys doing hw so let her be loh.. |

no fixed time to do homework, they have the whole day to choose when they wanna do
i give them the usual - maths, english, science, chinese handwriting. 5 pages per day, rotate the subjects. once in a while they just do coloring only (part of the homework routine - to practice their motor skills and creativity). then i mark the books at night and go through the mistakes with them or to reinforce certain things. now they take their homework seriously, no more doodling or defacing the pages.
weekends bo homework, they play play play all day, yippee!
then they also get to watch DVDs like Wordworld, Dora, Richard Scarry, Leapfrog.
then before bed at night, we have story-telling sessions. very insightful as you will then be able to judge their levels of understanding & competency over the weeks; and sometimes we'll veer off the story and just talk about relevant issues. |

When u let them do homework...did U explain t o them 1st wat to do or ur parents will do it? I always ask c1 to read the question 1st b4 she do her work n explain to her wat needs o b done and off I leave the study room ;)
I found that letting them do homework really helps....even doing penmanship...they can even learn spelling at the same time. |
