SY,
HOpefully can still go Australia next week. Gynae said to monitor for this 1 week and see how it goes...hopefully bleeding stops (well it already has stopped actually) so can go. He actually discourages us to go but i think we're still going ahead coz everything's booked already and we can't shift it to any other date as my hb is a teacher. But my gynae v cautious...gave me some pills to take during my trip to stabilize the pregnancy, just in case.

Durianlover - do take care and rest more! avoid the hsework and try to leave Janelle to your HB or someone who can help. I had 2 bad experiences of spotting too, both required me to go on bedrest for a week each. You still seeing Dr Ong? I must say he is very very cautious and careful... when i asked to just rest for 3 days, he told me off tat nothing is more impt than bb and tat no one shld be indispensable in the office! i also had soreness in my butt aft the jab,but shld subside by 2days. Did he not ask u to take the Duphaston now? perhaps its better to start taking so that everythin can be stabilised for your trip? He started me on the pills on the first occassion i spotted. take care wor!!!

god's child,
Oh u were also with Dr Ong? Can't quite remember. Yes i'm still with him! And i'm on Duphaston too. Super expensive leh! Even the jab costed almost 80 bucks! Yes Dr Ong is really extremely cautious, which is what i like too. My hb & parents & in-laws are taking turns to take care of Janelle so it's quite alright. But what i don't like is that my hb keeps nagging at me to lie in bed, as in literally lie in bed. Did you do that?? I'll die of boredom!! To me, sitting down is also considered resting...haha :-)

durianlover - i was wf Dr Ong for only my first trimester and spent almost a thousand on the scans/consultation/med/jabs.. afterwhich i just decided to switch gynae since he was too expensive for me.. his package oni starts fr 5mth i tink, which makes it quite 'bo hua'. the gynae i switched to starts his package on the first visit and was reali cheap wf medication included FOC( folic/multivits/normal GP med shld i fall sick).. Dr Ong is cautious and frank,he kinda scared me off when he said he is gona admit me to hospital shld i spot for a 3rd time..haha

when i was spotting, i rested most times on the sofa watching korean serials..hee...HB also very agst me heading out to even buy my meals.he deposited me at my dad's palce when he needs to work so that there is always someone at home to 'invigilate' me.. first trimester will be over soon and by then, spotting shld stop altogether.. so just tahan first k! take care!

I had to continue the 2 jabs twice weekly and take the pill as well to "stabilize" the pregnancy until my 2nd trimester. IT was terrible cuz I had difficulties swallowing the pill due to morning sickness. Luckily the MS miraculously went away at my 13th week when I stopped taking the pills and the jabs. Hormanal imbalance I guess.

Durianlover, take good care now so you will be well for the aussie trip!

ak, wow, I'm really impressed with Ryan.

I know someone who uses GD method on her girl. Now her girl is 2yo, she can read words from newspapers! Not sure if she knows the meaning, though.

Another fren uses shichida, her 2yo is such a chatterbox but can't read at all since shichida uses only pictures on the flashcards.

There's another mummy whose 2yo has been exposed to Chinese since young, now she can read from Chinese newspapers!

Ryan & ABCs
Well, basically his whole room is "carpetted" with the foam mats and so we enjoy playing with him in there, it is one of the safe zones of my home. And then when we are there, we will randomly take an alphabet and tell him what it is, and then sometimes we will ask him "where is B" and he will walk and pick up B and say "there!". So now he can pronounce most of everything but W.

ak,
Wow you really trained Ryan well! I'm super impressed with him!

Mamapanda,
Yes size 90 for the shorts please. Want to get the smallest size...if there's size 80 even better!

god's child,
Yes Dr Ong is really expensive. Feeling the big hole in my pocket now :-( But we're really comfortable with him so shall stick with him for now.
Hmmm u gave a good suggestion...perhaps i shd ask my hb to rent some DVDs for me to watch..or some Korean serials...have yet to watch any for some time!

hi ladies,

I've decided to extend the spree by another 1 more day since the shipping offer of 1200yen for orders up to 200,000yen is extended till June 30th. Also, I'm having trouble logging into the site today so I cant checkout the order. There seems to be some problem with the website. I'll close the spree either tomorrow afternoon or when the orders hit 30,000yen (app. $390SGD so that we don't get charged GST). So far, we've got orders up to 25,000yen already so I can take in another few more items.

i tried pan frying mushroom with garlic today but he does not like the taste. but i tried yoghurt and he ate them all. is this normal? getting abit worried that he now likes junk food. give him biscuits and he can ate packet after packet.

Durianlover - Do take care & enjoy yr "nua-ing" session :-)

SSF - Think he's exploring with food now that he knows he has choices.

Sembawang Park - Brought Cephas there yesterday evening aft picking up the ON stuff from Queen. Haha, Cephas was running from the start of the until he was so tired when we were walking back. He was walking sideways in an off balance manner. Nice place for a walk :-)

Hi Mamapanda,
I'm not from this thread (my kid is Nov 04).
But I'm thinking of joining the spree to get the training pants (pink), size 95. Do you gals mind?
How's everyone collecting the pants?
Btw, is 95 the biggest size?
I'm not sure if #1 can still fit in, but anyway if she cant, there's still #2 :P

Not doing a poll but just like to understand better on washing clothes : on the polls on washing bb & adults clothes together, do you hand-wash or machine wash bb clothes? If machine wash, how often do you do it a week?

We hand wash the kids clothes coz esp with urine and perspiration, we do it daily. If machine wash after a few days, it gets pretty smelly right?

ky
For normal bb clothings, we'll machine wash once every 2-3 days, depending how many sets of clothes used up. But for the bumwear and inserts, after every change, we will soak them in a pail of water with Napisan and end of the day, machine wash the bumwear and inserts. I avoid mixing urine-soaked clothings with his usual clothings.

RE: Playgroup @ May's House
Mummies, I have PM all of them who are in the list previously for the postponed date. Please reply me by Mon so that I can arrange for snacks if the playgroup is still on. If poor response, I will cancel the playgroup. Cos I am thinking of going to the Motherhood Fair on 9 June (just receive my magazine).

ky,
As Meg is at MIL's on weekdays, at my place I only need to wash her clothes every Sunday night. And it's only like half load in the machine including her towel and sometimes bedsheet. Actually she hardly gets urine-soaked clothings. At MIL's, the maid hand washes all the kids' clothes every other day. But I must add ah, my machine wash seems cleaner than this maid's hand wash!

Durianlover,
Sorry just managed to run through the posts and read about your spotting. Do take care and I cannot emphasize more to "REST MORE!"

so many post to catch up with.

mamapanda
I know what you mean...sometimes we can just buy and buy when we see nice stuff for bb. As I usual join spree so my HB will only know when I arrange for collection, then he will say why so busy one? some many things to collect :P
With the new maid and #2 coming... I have to be careful with my spending too.

I will give your Jshopper spree a miss this round :-) cos I join another spree to buy training pants. Will probably join the next if there is.

hi all

no internet access at home now so can hardly check the posts

COokie
I dunno that much abt cord blood banking cos i never did so didn't really bother.. but from what i understand is that if u donate the cord blood to the public bank.. they will not keep it for your baby specifically, its like blood banking.. u donate your blood but should u need it again, u won't get your own even if its the same type... but what you will get is priority to get a matching cord blood that may or may not be your baby's own blood... however for private cord blood banking then you are freezing your baby's cord blood for private use and not to be shared with others.

I don't think that even if your child had thal minor it is a problem to bank your babies blood... but i'm not sure about this so you'd better ask the cord bank themselves if there's any criteria against blood banking...

Mamachan
Can i confirm with you next week wednesday if i'm going? I'm sorry got some last minute things to settle so don't know if i can make it..

Durianlover
Do take care.. altho spotting is quite common, i had it bad last pregnancy and like the others had to have the hormonal meds and injections... hope its passes... better not carry your baby too much..

May
Sorry, can i confirm your playgroup is on 6th may or 9th may? If its 9th may i can't make it cos my hubby is working that day.. sorry, i only just checked my email

mamapanda,
I've transferred the money to you already! Sent you an email to confirm :-)

mamachan,
You've got PM. Yes the bumwear is still available :-)

babylon,
Sorry to hear abt your previous miscarriage even with the jabs and medicine. I guess i kind of took it for granted that with the medicine + jab, there wouldn't be any problems. But now hearing from u, i won't take things too lightly anymore!

RE: strange dreams
Haha it's really quite funny...i've been having super weird dreams lately! Preggie women sure have funny dreams huh. And guess what? Some of u are actually in my dreams!

In my 1st dream, i dreamt that i was present at tabbiesus' 2nd delivery! Oh my. And the epidural that was administered was really strange....instead of on the back, it was on the tummy. And the baby came out without any pushing or any C-section. Huh?? Can't make any sense out of this!

In another dream i had last nite, i dreamt that SY and i were classmates and we were somehow still in school, collecting our exam results. And SY brought JH to class too! And i was super impressed with JH because SY went "twinkle twinkle little star", and JH could complete it by saying "how I wonder what you are"!! And he said it so fluently somemore! Haha :-)

RE: strange dreams
haha..don't worry i've been getting strange dreams too, sometimes, nightmares.. sometimes very vivid dreams of weird things like going into labour or taking exams again... I couldn't help but laugh when i heard your dream!

talking about my labour.. i think i'm suddenly getting panic attacks about it.. dunno how to cope with a second child suddenly! Plus all the memories about breastfeeding, confinement and sleepless nights and all the worries about taking care of a newborn suddenly come flooding.. makes me a little worried about postnatal depression..

RE: window grills
Linda, wendyl, i got another contact for window grills if you haven't made yours yet... apparently my friend was quoted 5.50/m for silver coated grills and 4.50 for the aluminium one.. if you want i give you their contact...

Thanks for your sweet offer on the DVDs! It's alright, i shall tahan a few more days then i'm flying off to Australia nxt Tue liao. So no need :-) Thanks for the offer!

tabbiesus,
Yah i can imagine what's going thru your mind now...even at just 8 weeks preggie i'm already thinking how am i gonna cope with a newborn, breastfeeding, confinement, etc etc!! I can imagine that when i'm due to deliver i'd be thinking even more! But like what the rest said, don't worry, somehow you'll survive! And i guess it's good to "worry" about it now because it'll prob make you better prepared mentally for this 2nd one? Then there'd be less chance of post-natal blues too. Now just take care, rest as much as u can, and look fwd to the arrival of no.2 :-)

Sy
how is JH ?

JG
AK, the duration of each bilingual playgroup is 2 hours. Usually first 15 mins is free play for kids to get used to class. Then they will start to pack the toys, then lesson learning some alpha with sounds, there is always a theme and they will introduce alpha that suit that theme. There is a magic box session, then there is art n craft. After 1 hr, wash their hands and get ready for snack. Next chinese programme will be introduce. Story telling and teaching new words only half an hour. Next 15 mins is outdoor play. The next week you will start with Chinese and second half will be English

hi Mummies,
came back from Japan on Thur. It was quite a good trip. although the itinerary wasn't very packed but I still feel a bit tired from looking after clariss. maybe because I am pregnant and breastfeeding at the same time. luckily my in-laws were also there to help us. didn't get to take a lot of rides at the tokyo disneyland. clariss was cranky because she was tired and then she slept for 2 hours. but I must say that I am quite impressed with the quality of the rides at disneyland.

I was also given some hormone pills that contains progesterone called utrogestan100 although I don't have spotting but I guess my gynae is afraid that my breastfeeding will upset my hormone balance.
Durianlover, do take care and rest alot. Overseas trip no matter how we plan can cause a bit of stress and so really have to relax and take your time to enjoy the trip. don't strain yourself and worry too much also.
Half of the time when I was in Japan, I forgot that I was pregnant and still help to carry this and that and I was carrying clariss almost the whole time when she was upset.

Hi Mommies
Re: Curtains
Any good curtain maker to recommend? I used to go to the one in basement of Taka but can't find them anymore. Think they have closed shop. Anyone know where they have relocated to? I know the main shop used to be opp the old HDB HQ in Bukit Merah, not sure if they are still there.

KY, Mashy
When you did your minor reno, did you get a designer to do it or u get the contractor directly?

i went direct to the contractors. didn't go thru a designer coz it's really minor like changing toilet doors, installing ceiling fans. can't afford to have hacking in the hse when we're still staying here. :p

SY
heard from sysac that JH had fever. Hope he's better. Have u sold the combi shoes? if not, what's the size, worn before, and how much u selling? My boy has the same pair 12.5, but think he's going to outgrow it very soon.

SH, CL, Flo, Sysac, Mashy
thanks for asking abt JH. he's down with HFMD...sigh hb insists he caught it in class but PD thinks that the timing doesn't seem like it's from class. he thinks that it is probably caught some time last week. must really be careful and wash your kids hands when u bring them out. i went to a wedding last fri, shopping on sat and church on sun. suspect he may have picked it up from church cos i brought him to the kids room and he was touching the carpet and i din wash his hands.

SH,
hope JW dun catch it from JH. lucky was only at your place for a short while. din expect it to be HFMD cos his rashes din appear until fri. even when i brought him to dr sim on fri morn, he din say it's HFMD. only confirmed it today. so din even dare to bring him to corridor.

mummies
i m so upset that JH caught HFMD. hb keeps insisting it's from class and has banned him from ALL classes.

CL, so i may need to pull out of the JG class. will see how it goes.

mummies
JH is having such a difficult time and he doesnt wan to eat much cos he has throat ulcers. and he can't sleep at night. last night he was practically crying and waking up every hour. each time he woke up, he couldn't be comforted and i could only let him cry until he's tired and he goes to sleep.

any mummies got experience to share?

SSF
regarding feeding habits, JH also going thru this face. he will reject things he used to it. I asked PD before and he said it's normal. they are approaching the terrible 2 stage and will start to assert their independence.

durianlover,
your dream was really hilarous...prob the only thing that made me laugh today.

mashy
the shoes i got is the same size i think. will check and let u know.

Flo
i got my curtains from a shop in bukit timah. i think it's pretty good. my mum knows the owner for a very long time. if u wan i can PM u the number.

Seems tat Cass is the only one with a little princess so far. So envious!

SY
Oh dear....HFMD, do take good care of yourself. I think previously Yuki's girls was down with HFMD? I dun think HFMD can be transmitted via dirty carpet, think most likely would have gotten it via interaction with others who had it. An abstract from a website I found:

"HFMD is moderately contagious. Infection is spread from person to person by direct contact with nose and throat discharges, saliva, fluid from blisters, or the stool of infected persons. A person is most contagious during the first week of the illness."

THe website: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/revb/enterovirus/hfhf.htm

I think just give JH lots of TLC but avoid kissing him on the lips if possible. Anyway, the incubation period for the virus from point of infection is 3 - 7 days, often the onset of HFMD is fever. Unlikely it's from the classes, if it is so, then there would be a major breakout among all attendees already.

Oh dear. Hope JH recovers fast. You take care too.

HFMD
Heard recently there's another breakout of HFMD everywhere so my hb and I are both very skeptical of bringing Ariene to classes or places where there're alot of children. We don't even allow her to play at public playgrounds for fear that she'll contract HFMD. Think we must really be very careful.

BTW, is Rena out of town?

Hi mummies
hv been v busy lately. Esp at work.. so stressed that i hv to take camomile tea to calm me down. :-(

Wendyl
heehee... meant to update but didnt hv a time. My gynae only just confirmed this week that it's a gal. :-) so happy. :-)

CL
Thanks much again for passing me the biscuits. Sorry, for the delay, I'll try to fax to you on monday. I've filled up the form, only can't decide the timing. Where can I see the timings again and the place, ah? I'll prefer the 9am one in case Gerald drops his am nap, then 2pm will be his nap time. haha.. but, i rem i also had to choose between Evans and Forum. Can I see the timings / place and reply to you, pls. If i forget, feel free to sms me to remind me, pls. in case, I'm too busy and cant log on.

Tabby
I'm feeling like you too.. I'm even worse, my biggest worry is the childcare arrangements for the 2 children, whether to let my nanny continue looking after them or to change nanny and also let Ger join playgrp so that my mum can look after him in the PMs.. so stressful. Then, plus my hb is still taking part time courses, i'm wondering how to cope when he has night and weekend classes, e.g. how to put both of them to slp, etc.. aiyo.. the list is never ending. :-(

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Also wan to do a poll to find out if mummies are still cooking separate porridge meals for bb or are you giving rice+table food, with soup?

AK: Porridge cooked just for Ryan

Chicken little : Porridge cooked just for Aden, sometimes babysitter, will give rice with soup. But his soup is before she add salt or seasoning. He will be given steam fish too from the table

Tracy - Cook separately
Sept03 - Cook separately. But we will give Caleb table food as well.
bblon - cook separately. But damien will still join us for every meal..so we will give him to try watever on the table. we are trying to train him to have the same type of food as we taking. Dun want to end up to have a fussy kid kid like me elder boy

queen - porridge for dinner, will sample some adult food when me & HB have ours
krissie - will cook his porr separately for him. when he's out with us, will let him try our food if it's suitable.
