Hi
my son attends Character Montessori at SK, along Punggol Rd. It is a relatively new sch, but so far quite happy with their programmes.

Hi jennyN,
guess this thread isn't that 'prominent', i oni see it today when contance posts :-)
I sent my gal to Shekinah montessori House somewhere near ST Anne woods.

You may want to try to post yr questions in the Sk/PG thread where more SK/PG visits...

http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/messages/36738/287312.html?1146575950#POST1664911

Not everyone goes thru all the threads daily, like for me i save the SK/PG thread in my favourtite and only go to that thread and a couple others only.
Once in a while when I hv time I will scan the forum to see if there's anything new.

Hi,
Although we are staying in Compassvale, I placed my girl at Kinderland's 3 hour flexi-care playgroup in Kovan. My mum will send her there & then meet up with the other grandmas there for breakfast & shopping :p

hi Constance,

I am considering CM as well. Can i ask something? Does CM has morning playgroup as well? Or only afternoon is more enriching?

Thanks.

Hi, I enquired before at CM. They do not accept students if you are only interested in the playgroup. They are a childcare center. I am also still looking for a pre-nursery montessori school for my 20 mths boi! Any recommendations?

Hi janey
like what co11ectionz says, I think CM only accept students for half day or full day sessions. Half day can be either am or pm. They teach the main curriculum plus montessori play session in the morning. Afternoon will be the enrichment programmes.

hi Constance,

Thanks for your reply, really appreciate it.

Btw, do you find the enrichment programme good? How old is your kid? mine is coming to 2year old soon. I have signed up for the morning session, although i am only interested in the programme itself.

Hi janey
just saw your qn.
My son is 4 yrs old, in nursery class.
I think he enjoys the enrichment programme. He's very proud of the food he prepares and brings home every Tuesday. :-)
When will you be starting your kid?
Maybe my gal and your kid will bcome classmates in the Pre-Nursery Class coming Feb. :-)

Went to Sunbird Child Development Centre at Sengkang. Like it but husband prefered its sister school at Newton.

I spoke to the principal of sunbird before when I was exploring childcare (not playgroup)....she didn't give me a good feeling so I decided against it.

Playgroup though, I have tried PlayDates in sengkang (http://beyondplaydates.wordpress.com/about-2/). I will recommend this.

So much PROMOTION of this BeyondPlaydates suddenly between August 24 and today, that it caught my attention. It is all fluke, may I say?

Found something SO Interesting. Got to share!

Posted by the same person, alfamum yesterday on Sept 4. Hmm.. a week later, she says she 'used to go to a playdate'...

Both posted by 2 different members on the SAME day, within 50 min apart. One about setting up the BeyondPlaydats and another about asking for good playgroups to go to (in the same area). The 'love story' continues as they found each other the SAME day on the forum. Hmm.. similar pattern here in SMH in February 2009 (I think) when this VERY SAME PLAYDATE was recruiting.

Oh and oh...

Same person lah...

They must think we parents are IDIOTS!

If the playdate is so good, let the results speak for itself lah.. rather than the creating drama like that. Channel the energy into making your curriculum better. That is the way to go.

Let’s focus back on constructive discussions, and sharing of experience & knowledge.

My most critical suggestion to parents seeking any enrichment programs, playgroups, childcare, kindergarten, etc, is
- contact the organizer of the program to understand more
- attend a trial and experience for yourself
- ask to speak with current participants if possible
This beats any 3rd party opinion.

Also, if you can, try and gauge the amount of curriculum R&D the organizer puts into program. This part is not easy, but sometimes you do get a sense of the results in the website and that speaks for itself.

p.s. Oh, and oh …. I have never organized a playgroup, let alone own one :-)
