Athlete, entahlah.. you tak tahu ker, some men get some thrill by doing stupid stuff.
Smlm, lagi sikit aku jadi KS parent. Went to Popular to buy stationeries, then tertengok buku-buku assesment for pre-schoolers.. LOL. I was like "Oh dear..nanti Maya stress"..so terus patah balik. Entah eh, i find that learning the fun and interactive way is better. Kalau duduk pegang crayon/pencil on assesment book for 3 yr old mcm stress plak. |

Nora, actually, my main purpose is for them to offer me higher pay and relook at the jobscope. And if it is suitable, i will stay and will try to work things out. Cos sini dekat dgn rumah. Tu jer.

my previous employer hold back the last mth of maternity pay
they do it to ensure org comae back to office
if org tak balik office they treat as the notice-in-lieu payment
my current employer dun practice that tho
mebe bec tak banyak org have this maternity benefit
if ur aim is to ask for higher pay then u can say the reason as such
but i am skeptic abt the job scope arrangement
since they have fallen into the habit of asking u do to everuthing
remember

these are the same kind of parents yg spoil mkt for p1 reg
and thks to em eh, kite yg tinggal dekat kadang pun tkle masuk skola tu!
And these are also the parents yg instill fear in parents like me tau,
i wonder if adam is ready for primary skool.
Cos aku tgk parents lain sibok2 antar anak gi enrichment.
While adam balik skola main toys, tgk tv and go jalan2.
But then like u bapak dia ckp, if cn make it, cn make it
if cnt make it, u spend thousands also no use. Extra stress oni. =P |

Nora, entahlah. Now my mktg dept ada 3 girls in total. My superior, me and the myanmar girl.
The Myanmar girl's 'S' Pass is expiring in April. She is now also 50-50 nak quit cos gaji tak naik 3 tahun..same as my issue lah. So in Mar, dia akan carik kerja.. and if she get better pay, she will leave. So that leave me and my superior. My superior nie dah kerja sini for 8 yrs. It's her 1st job. So dia dah kena brainwash sikit with this company. So to her the jobscope here and the ad-hoc things people ask her to do, she thought it is normal everywhere. Cos kat sini byk andartu cina yg kerja since theyr turned 18. And they managed to phsycho my superior to believe that everywhere is even lower pay and more workload. Only until me and this Myanmar girl masuk and citer abt how life was better at the ex-company compared to here. She was defensive at 1st, but now baru dia sedar diri. And now dia preggy number 2. And her maternity will start in Aug right after i come back.
So now, the tactic is that for me to tender in mid-july. Then the management will ask me for reason, then i will explain. I think i will get abit of more pay and they will shuffle the jobscope. I tak kisah if the management want to let me go if i ask too. No problem. Just that my superior pun nak jalan after maternity. |

she said "yes, of cos! tv is actually good for their imagination!"

Flashcards I believe work for the child's memory skills and concentration level. But as the child grows up,a lot of things around can distract him thus bringing down his concentration level. No matter hw u groom the mind,the child develops his own character due to environment/surrounding etc. Anyway not all things in school require memory work what kan!
Being typical singaporean, aku pun ada kiasu la sikit(apa tak,anak sorang jer!) banyak trial an error on him,tapi sekarang rasanya taklah semua mujarab!!lol! Now certain things nak suruh dia buat naik berbuih mulut!

Sher, for me.. im more of a game mummy. Eg, i will describe something, and she will say the object. Then i associate some other things with the object, like the colour, the texture..then i will create stories and ask her to continue. Then i will get her to dance with me and let her express herself on how she feels. So far, she is expressive sikit..Kalau my bro disturb her, she will say "Kakak is very upset, Cik Bobo make me upset!" Kalau she is happy, she will make happy she will go "Weee!!", kalau dia jump, then dia ada sound effect like "Boing Boing"..nie gara-gara aku pun act mcm monyet jugak kat rumah.. So monkey see and monkey do. |

Bagus lah gitu Mas. Aku suka your way.. So anak kau tahu that he have family support.
But diff people diff cara. Dulu i ever take a taxi. This pakcik is about my dad's age. You know me lah.. aku nie suka bercerita and bertanya khabar. So found out this pakcik has 3 child. Sumer goes to JC and all very smart. He tell me some tips on how to get your children to be smart lah. Cos anak2 dia sumer masuk UNI. And he is just a taxi driver and wife is a housewife. I must say, i was impress.. cos berapa tahun aku naik taxi, most of the taxi drivers i get to know have smart children walaupun dorang orang susah. |

Sher, in a way it does.
Cos aku use tt time to do smtg else w em
mcm baca buku or play w his toys.
In fact the diff btwn sarah and adam is so obvious tau.
Like i say aku more slack w sarah, so her vocab and alphabets not v good
Adam at tht age can use big words to describe things.
He even recognise his abc and phonics sounds.
Tats y it was a natural progression to enrol him in phonics.
Mayb now aku kene shuttle to and fro hantar dorang skola
so by the time i rch home it will b abt 4pm.
Then aku start masak, shower them so by the time they settle
aku da penat giler. So tv will be their companion.
And sad to say, the least i can do is reading to them.
Tv watching still aku control. Its max 2hr but wkend i close one eyes.

I loike ur way,participating in ur child's activity..I used to do that but now i miss everything. Sekarang dah start reminding me not to kiss him bila hantar gi sekolah so I have to beg to let me. Eventually he said ok BUT in the car only..boring sey! I would pujuk my heart telling myself at least he still allows me to hold his hand while walking but I rasa ini pun tak lama lagi dah tak boleh jugak la..I watch my son 'outgrow' me in his life  Cepat la dia besar!!

I guess for smaller firms, memang dorang lokek nak naikkan gaji. But no matter what, don't let them take away your right to yr maternity pay. Wati, I think you'll get yr pay every month as per normal. Kalau tak, kering siak.... tiba2 after 3 mths, jadi OKB, durian runtuh.
But I learn today that time spent with a child is very very precious and important. In my line of work, I've met many parents who 'outsource' parenting, some becoming weekend parents, some, just kasi orang lain jaga anak. It's so scary, but the effects can only be seen many years later in the teens.
I also learnt today (again) that parents must be in control. So tonight, I'm not letting Adam watch 311 in the living room. Nangis lah dia, I won't budge. Coz I'd rather he cry now than I cry later. |

yay finally tgif.. heehee sorry although i'm not working.. i look forward to fridays cos then i'll have my husband with me for the whole weekend woohoo!
i've got this burning question and wondering if you all can help me... any mums here beranak and took care of baby by themselves without help from any relatives or maids whatsoever? pasal, now dont know if my mum in law is coming and my dad bukannya boleh tolong la kan he's so old already.. abeh kalau nak ambik maid for 4-5 months i don't know if its possible.. cos i dont think i need a maid for years you see.. |

maybe for the 1st few weeks, can you ask yr hb to take leave to help out?
also, if you engage tukang urut, she can help mandikan baby, show you how to handle baby etc also. |

i remembered i actually said - sorry mamie dunno how to take care of u - to him, betol tak bedek
and i had like an army of pple around me
the hb, my mum and my sis (who's also a former nurse)

wa thanks everyone for the info..
honestly ah.. my husband.. dia tak pernah jaga baby.. so i'm gonna be realistic and say he's not gonna be very useful during the period after i give birth... cos he's not a hands on kinda person some more.. he's more of "audience" kinda person haha.. anyway he'll take leave la after i give birth but not long uh.. maybe one week max.. but i still think a woman will be more useful than having men around..

confinement nanny i've been thinking about it.. tapikan.. so far i survey semua cina.. i wanna find yang melayu if can.. you guys got any lubang on malay confinement nanny? dengar dengar they do housework and cook for you and jaga baby at night.. and all you need to do is feed baby and express breastmilk.. heh heh heh... |

Lina !! Kita rindu kau seh.. busy semacam lah lu.
Hi Isabella, for me.. the 1st day i bawak balik baby..i tido sorang dgn baby and hubby. Baby nangis malam2, i panic tak tahu nk buat apa.. keep on crying, sampai i almost become depressed. Dia tak nk tido baby cot, so i was carrying her to bed tonggang terbalik dgn HB tido betul, i tido dgn baby terbalik. It was horror for me.. but lesson learnt. Then my mum came every morning to help cook lauk confinement and bathed my baby. Then she went home by lunch. This goes on sampai i lepas hari. Kalau my mum lambat sampai, i mandikan baby sendiri..

This apply to my HB. Dia tak dukung anak dia sendiri for a few weeks. He was so scared that he will harmed the baby. Leher budak tu kan lembik. So i had to handle the baby all the time. then bila baby leher dah kuat sikit, baru dia berani dukung. |

hi bonda! long time no chat heehee.. wa so good your mom come every morning to help take care of you and the baby!  and yes i've taken care of a few newborns(anak angkat tiga cute cute) and realise holding them can be very scary hopefully i don't panic when it comes to my own baby hee.. entahlah my husband ni dia boleh handle ke tak pun i'm not sure hee.. |

But overall, i think just enjoy lah. It is always a learning experience with a newborn. Before you knew it, your baby grow up so fast before your very eyes.. |

For me tonite is VISIT the In-laws.. sigh* Semalam i pergi Jurong Pt to buy them ubat bunuh pijat (Bedbugs).. jgn plak mlm nie dorang ckp aku mengada-ngada..cos the house really infested and all they do is spray Sheltox. It doesn't work. Im going to be abit evil tonite and tell Maya not to play on the bed. Will tell her got cockroaches and bed bugs on the bed that can bite her legs and make her itch. That is the only way to let her play in the living room. |

tu ah... some ppl also got advise me.. ambik maid pun takut sakit kepala heehee.. arghhhh confused!
wa bonda! ur in laws place got bedbugs! omggg... once when i was younger..at my dad's old place.. everyone in my family would go out in the early morning and come back only in the evening.. so windows and door always closed.. then suddenly got bedbugs cos no sun at all.. the only way to kill all of it is to wash everything with hot water.. like bedsheets i washed with hot water.. and then throw out pillows and what not.. but since i moved into my own house.. windows open all the time.. door always open.. one thing i dont understand at my old house.. my brothers HATE sunlight. diorang suka gelap gelappppppp...
anyway bonda, u're not being evil.. later she play on the bed.. then kena bite.. or worst still the bed bugs cling on to her and bring back to your place... urghhh... macam mana u can tahan with ur in laws i wonder... u've got tonnes of patience! |

Isabella.. i nie Taurus.. Patience level very high. Tapi kalau dah exceed limit.. habis sumer kena sondol.

Bedbugs : Last time, kita pernah TERbawak balik bedbugs nie. That time Maya belum ada. It was badly infected that we had to throw away our mattress and bedframe. Binatang tu dah buat sarang. Then we saved abit of money then engaged pest control. We had to fumigate the whole house. Alhamdullilah, so far dah takder sampai sekarang. So you can imagine how many years i betul punyer jaga my house tau. Everytime kita balik from my in-laws, the 1st we do is get bukak baju dekat dapur (In the dark of course!) and terus masuk washing machine then simbah air panas. Now ada maid tinggal sama rumah dgn kita, so kita tak boleh lah berbogel beramai-ramai..so we go into the room, not even walking into the bedroom.. then we tanggal baju and terus masuk baldi. Then the maid will pour hot water into the tub. and this goes on till now. All this i do without complaining. My HB kesian kan kita anak beranak. Cos my HB dah byk kali suruh his parents fumigate the whole house. But the dad ckp "ok ok.." but i guess cost is the main thing for them. And the dad also always say that aku nie mengada-ngada..cos yg selalu kena gigit, is me and my dotter. He said he and the whole family can live with the bedbugs. |

yes sher...i kat sana sterilize Maya toys pun dorang give me that kind of mengada-ngada look tau. Padahal anak aku at that time kena HFMD. So i sterilize everything there.. aiyoh..u should see their face. Muka seposen ah.
So all i can do is sabar jer lah. Rumours byk oi pasal aku tau..so tak kan nak attack MIL kan. So i diam ajer lah. Janji my HB tau i nie victim. |

Isabella... call me saddist, but i suka kalau one of us is sick, then only my HB will say that we do not need to go to in-laws house.. but sadly, if can he will drag us go. Cos he said "I rather we go then they come over to our house".. anak dia pun malas nk layan dorang. Kalau mak dia dtg rumah aku, habis dia bongkar i punyer dapur. Got 1 time she make comment, "Cantik pinggan mangkuk Wati. Mcm tak pernah pakai jer".. Issh..Gua sabar babe !
My pinggan mangkok are gifts from my mother.. dah 5 tahun aku pakai..cos my mum beli 1 whole set masa i kahwin then it's Tupperware punyer brand per. Sampai sekarang masih bertahan. Konon dia ckp aku tak masak kaper.. i senyum jer, bila my MIL comment. |

Haiz, sebab tu lah kat hell ada ramai perempuan...Nauzubillah!
Anyway I think it's good if you have some support in yr first few weeks to get confidence. It'll help if you can have someone cook some confinement food for you too. Maklumlah first one :p
I was at my mom's place when I gave birth to #1, but for #2, my hubby dah tak selesa and preferred to go back to our own place. I learnt to cook my own soups, after all newborn banyak tido jadi bila dia tido, I masak a quick lunch. On some days I go over to my mom's for urut, on some days the makcik urut came over to my place. Senang cakap, I langsung tak ikot confinement rules for #2. Alhamdulillah OK pulak. Asal dah tua tak kena rabak sudah :S

Bed bugs are nasty. urgh. In fact they say, bila beli katil pon we should try not to lie down on the display beds coz we never know what lurks around in there. Gross.
I think you're fortunate to get such an understanding husband. Takpe lah, anggap ni satu dugaan, insya-Allah one day yr MIL sedar jugak (chedebah) :p |

SD, I am thankful that i have a great HB. Dia understand me cuma dia wont defend me. Tu sebab i have to sabar jer cos if i get into trouble with his mother, then takut dia stuck in between. Kesian kan dia. Selagi i boleh sabar, i sabar lah... buat dunno sudah.
On another note... besok i nak start paint my master bedroom. Tadi pagi hantar sms to my siblings to ask them for help..so tomorrow dorang sume nk dtg tolong...Yahoo! Tak sangka plak dorang nk tolong cos last minute plea. Then my bro coming with his 3 frens summore. I nak upah dorang makan lah mcm gini eh.. Tonite after In-Laws, got to go 24hrs NTUC to get chicken thigh and some prawns and eggs. Nak masak, Lemon Chicken, Oats Prawn and Sambal Telor. Then maybe get some ice-creams and nice sodas. Me so happy. Ada orang nk tolong i paint rumah.. |

Weekend was great ! My brother and his frens and my sis came to help me out with the painting of our master bedroom. Had a blast. Cooked lunch for them. It was worth it.. Sunday, went to Tumbletots and went to IKEA to buy a small cheap desk. Only $29. Tapi punyalah berat !! Haiz...

My weekend was great lah. Feel the love from my siblings. Cos i told them abt the painting on Fri. Baik dorang sacrifice their Sat to help me out. Now my room look so fresh. Maya ckp "It's UNBELIEVABLE".. mana dia belajar word nie... jgn tanyer aku.. LOL. Then she keep on saying, "Mummy, i like the colour.." Padahal cream colour jer. And whenever we are at home, we all now prefer to baring kat bilik, cos mcm relaxed gitu. |
