Hi Eryannie, I recently got a Filipino maid from them. Basically their service (those executives at the counter) is average. One thing i like about them is that they willingly let you photocopy maids biodata and allow you to bring them home to look thru. There is also the maids contact number in their country so you can call them directly to interview the maid. I picked mine from three whom i have selected at the agency. But they cant reveal much about the maid past history and experience if you demand to know more, reason being the maid might be from another agency previously. I would say this agency charges quite reasonable fee for their service and this maid have been with me for a week now. So far, i am happy with her. I guess its the feeling you have when you interview her on the phone. Out of the three i select, only this one makes me feel comfortable. I used to get my maids (5 in one year) from an agent who does house call. All she did was to re package transfered maid and give them to you. This time round, i get to see the bio data first and also get to talk to the person before deciding to take her. Hope the above info helps. Do let me know should you need more info. |

Mine also frm the same agency. But jurong west outlet. They were the one advised me to take fresh maid. They also called me up a month later to check how is the maid.In fact I had chosed "average" among the 4 biodatas.I dun trust those " very good". Till to date,my maid is okay :-) fast learner. Its the norm, tht you have to remind /correct her if anything wrong. Contract ends in Feb..she continuing till july only.It all depends on luck on choosing maid , her upbringing and whether does she mixes with other maids. Hope this helps. |

i gotten my ex from Thomson and current from JW branch. I feel that the service in JW is better and more sincere in helping. They are better in recommending me a maid than Thomson branch. My current is a filipina. Agent named Cai Hong, said a new fresh maid is better.. but they are slightly slower in understanding. So far my maid is ok and very fast in her work. She follows her schedule that i given her on the first day and till tdy she still following. She can cook, average... but still giving her time to improve. my former is an Indo, english horrible and i hv to get malay dictionary to do translation. Then she ran away cos her family wrote a letter telling her they found a man for her to marry. She refused to tell me and giving me craps that she know President. Silly, hw will employer believe in those craps... If she knows President, she wont be a MAID liaoz. When i shop for this filipina, hb says get married once with kids... though she will miss her kids, but i allow her to write home and even call home with calling card. Nw she aiming hp.. whahaha. i told her.. more expensive... esp with those calling rates and sms. I wont be silly to let her get HP and give myself headache. So far her hands are CLEAN, and she is rather appreciative cos i helped her to settle the outstanding school fees for her kids and also bought rice to her family to compliment her hard work. Thumbs up for Budget @ JW. u can look for Cai Hong or Mandy. |

hi Eryannie, I got mine from there too. Look for Lilian, she' quite experience and can explain things quite clearly, although she doen'st look too friendly, but at the very least she's the most knowledage around their and most patient, so far her maid recommendation for me and my SIL is good, our maids may not be the smartest, but certainly hardworking. even my MIL (typically disapproving of FW) also think the maids are not too bad. but hearing from other mommies, I think getting a maid is really depend on luck, so I guess for the initial part, don't pay too much for all those agency/insurance fees, pay more agency fee may not equate to better maid... jm2c harriet |

Thanks all for your feedback. I was wondering if during the time you decide to take your maid with this agency, did any of the counter staff explained to you about the payment packages? Will any of you mind sharing it with us here? I have heard about the normal package and the post dated package. Anyone can share? |

Hi Avocado, Sorry for late reply. I went to the one at Bukit Timah Plaza. Agent fee is $188 and for experience maid there is another $100.00 and also another $100 for their insurance. So total is $388.00 and also the maid loan upfront payment of $2510.00. They do have post dated cheque package but you will have to pay a charge of two hundred over dollars. |

i gotten my maid from budget in Jurong west. She is fresh from philippines. if Ex-sin, means they work here before and tends to be smarter and demands for off days. Fresh is better cos all teaching starts new and easier but though they might be english educated, they will need time to understand the terms here. and fresh can tell them no off days. |

I would advise all potential employers to stay away from such budget agencies. Their tactics are questionable, and their current practice of making the maids pay for their own airfare is not legal. Imagine having a loan of $2500+ to pay? The maid will have to go without pay for almost 10 months! Airfares, insurance, medical etc. are supposed to be paid by employer and NOT the maid. But this is the tactic that such agencies uses to lower their "agency fees" to attract potential employers. I urge all who has a heart to steer clear of such agencies. Besides such tactics, they also promised local maids a commission for providing bio-data of their friends/relatives. My maid was foolish enough to do that. Later, they claimed that they have found a employer for her "recommended friend" and purchased air tickets etc but that the friend at the last min did not take up the offer. My maid was asked to compensate for the processing fees of $400. My maid (with another) had to fork out $400 from their own pocket to settle this "penalty", and no receipt was given to my maid. As this incident did not come to my knowledge until recently (the transaction took place last year), I had little recourse and no documentary evidence to validate their claims or to file a complaint against the agency. However, such tactics on innocent and gullible maids who earns peanuts a month is, to me, utterly deplorable, and i wonder how many more maids had been victims to such shady practices and yet dare not speak up. |

Can anyone kindly recommend to me a reliable agent whom I can speak to at the Gek Poh branch? I personally thk tat apart from luck, a good agent could use us to pre-screen the biodata of the maids and/or credibility of the agents in Philippines/Indo. |

At first, I was thinking since it is a reputable company and got artist to endorse for them then it should be trustable. Well….. I was totally wrong. Following are the bad experience which I had with the above-mentioned maid agency. 1. We had chosen a Filipino maid and pick her up on 07/11/09. The Filipino maid started crying on her first day with us and she requested to call home as she wanna informed her family members that she was in safe hand. Out of good will, I purchased her an IDD Card on the very next day. On 08/11, I told her we will be having chilli crab for dinner and she told me she is allergy to seafood however her biodata indicate she is not allergy to anything. After she called home on the same day, she cried to me saying that her husband and children want her home. I pacify her as I believe she is homesick. On 09/11, she came to me telling me that her Philippines doctor diagnosed her with Chest Problem and Singapore Maid Agency was to report her sickness to me which the maid agency didn’t. On 10/11, early in the morning she cried to me again saying that she heard her children calling for her at night. In the afternoon, she repeated the same (children calling her) to me again and also told me she is having stomach pain. I cannot tolerate her nonsense anymore, I called up the maid agency and return her to the maid agency. 2. During her stay with us, she simply lived like a QUEEN. She didn’t even greet us and went to bed without telling us. Walking and sitting around doing nothing yet she told the maid agency that she sweep and mop the floor 3 times per day but my floor was full of dirt, which mean she was lying. On her first day with us, I told her to sweep the floor and she only sweep those dirts which can been seen but not the whole house. She didn’t even sweep under the tables / chairs / beds. She didn’t offer her help when I was cooking and doing household chores. Truthfully, she took good care of my bb. Some more I have to buy her meals everyday. I just talked to the maid agency, they claimed that just my luck to buy her the IDD Card and there will be no refund for it. F%#^#^#^%#....... 3. Replacement maid was also a Filipino and the maid agency claimed that she will arrived Singapore on the following week and we can pick her up on 25/11/2009. On the 3rd week of Nov, I call up the maid agency and they said that our replacement maid has not arrived. I argued with the maid agency but they deny what they had said. I was thinking maybe there was some miscommunication. A few days later my husband called up the maid agency and checked with them the status of our replacement maid, they claimed that the maid will arrived Singapore over the weekend and we may pick her up on 24/11/09. We were so delighted. On 23/11/09, I called up the maid agency again to confirm whether can we pickup the maid on the following day but what we receive was BAD NEWS. (At that moment, I felt that lightning had strike me) Our replacement maid failed her Medical Test, her blood test shown that she is pregnant. Maid Agency suggested in sending her for another round of blood test and we agreed. 4. While waiting for the replacement maid, maid agency recommended us a transfer Filipino maid who is 42yo and can speak Chinese. Well…. I interview her over the phone and indeed she can speak fluent Chinese. I was thinking since she can speak fluent Chinese than it will be easier for her to communicate with the elderly hence I chose her while waiting for our replacement maid. Almost a week later, the maid agency has yet to receive approval from MOM. Hence, I called up MOM personally to check on the status and the answer I received was her application was rejected due to she did not go for her medical test. I called up the maid agency immediately and reprimanded them. As usual, the maid agency pushed the fault to her ex-employer. Being sarcastic, I told her maybe because this maid is problematic therefore her ex-employer simply hack care her. The answer I received was “No… her ex-employer transfer her was because they don’t need a maid anymore and they even give her S$250.00 as rewards” “She was been transferred from our Hougang Branch and my colleague there didn’t inform me”…..etc. If her ex-employer like her so much why they can forgot to send her for medical test? I even requested to talk to her ex-employer but was been pushed away with those stupid excuses again. Eg. “Maybe her ex-employer had different requirements as you”… etc. By the way, I had checked her Employment History and was shocked that she had been working for 3 employers before us (which mean we are the 4th) and the duration was only 2 months or less. Start Date End Date Employer 1 13/12/2008 09/02/2009 Employer 2 09/02/2009 04/03/2009 Employer 3 04/03/2009 12/05/2009 Employer 4 12/05/2009 5. After all the above unhappy incident we had decided to ask for a refund. The maid agency started their excuses again. “Our boss are not in town and will only be back to sign the payment either Wednesday or Thursday (1st week of Dec) then the account need sometime to process the refund”. Initially they told us refund took only a week. “Out of good will, we only charge you 3 days for the 1st maid as we know it was our maid’s fault. Actually our company policy is to charge employer for 1 month”. The maid came to my place living like a QUEEN and yet they want to charge me for it. At first the manager told my husband they will refund all charges (include Agency Fee, Insurance & FULL Refund of Maid Loan) to us. However, the customer service executive claimed that her manager did not say that and was saying no such thing as FULL Refund. They are damn good in playing “TAI JI”. Am wondering how long will they take to refund me ? HORRIBLE is an understatement of my experience with them! |

I also want to share my expeience with the budget outlet at katong. 3 words: EXTREMELY BAD SERVICE I read in the thread above that they are consider good because they allow client to photocopy biodata. Tell me - which agency don;t do that? So there is nothing big deal about allowing us to have biodata. My experience was that there was this guy who initially gave me good impression. Called me 2 mths before I was due to see if I am still interested to get a maid. Since hes the only one who follow up with me, I went along with him. Who knows each time I selected a maid, he will always say "should be ok, will proceed to confirm the maid". But after a few days, he will call back and say "sorry - the maid taken up by other agencies, please choose another maid". It happened 3 times straight in the row and he keep asking me to take up the maids which I've rejected the biodata before. The last time was even after I paid up $$ and they even issued me invoice and contract. Then 2 days after payment, the guy call up and say "really sorry, the maid taken up by other agency again. So please rechoose". That was the last straw cos I am 1 month to go before my due date and I was so so upset that I cant even talk properly. I had originally wanted the maid to come in 1 mth before I am due and the guy promised that once I select the maid, he will do all paperwork immediately .. blah.. but in the end, its all EMPTY TALK!! I suspect he was slow in his action hence thats the reason why the maid can be taken up by others. I was too upset and my hubby got to go down personally to settle the problem with him. Almost forgot to mention that during the 1 mth maid selection process, I went down so many times to select maid because they 1) they cant scan biodata to me 2) they can only fax and the fax quality was very bad.. all turn out to be black black.. cant see the face at all. and yet in the end, I felt that I was played out. CAn you imagine them doing this to someone who is so heavily pregnant and have just 2 months to go before delivery. This guy just have no compassion!! Finally they agreed to refund $$ and they took aother 2 mths to pay us back. The part that I cant stand them was that when they called me 2 days after the contact has been signed, they still dare to bank in our cheque and take our money. We saw that the tranx was 5 days after we signed our contract. It was also unfortunate that the cheque was the last page of our cheque book so we didnt take down the cheque number to inform the bank to stop transaction. Hence they got the chance to cash our cheque. I called up casetrust, wanted to log complaint but I went into labour and lodging complaint with casetrust require me to go down personally. The procdures are really toublesoome - really hope that casetrust can simplify it for ppl like us who get "bullied/ cheated" by such company. |

DO NOT GO TO BUDGET MAID - Upper Thomson I went to the branch requesting for a maid June 2010. After we have chosen the maid that we like, we told the IC - Yen, to reserve the indo maid for us. We waited for 2 weeks for confirmation & there wasn't any call from them. I called back to check on the status & to my dismay, Yen claimed that we did not pay the Agt fee, thus the maid was not confirmed. We had to rush down on the very day to pay the Agt fee, insurance, test placement cost. After we have paid, there wasn't any follow-up for 2 months. In Aug, I was 8 mth pregnant then, I have to call the agency again to check on the status. I was told that the maid is coming in a few weeks time. Finally, the maid arrived, she failed the entry test & I wasn't even being notified of it. I had to call the agency to check on the results then only I was informed to come down to select another maid. I went down to select another maid. There wasn't any follow-up call as well & I've to call the agency weekly to check on the progress. Finally, in sept, they said that the maid has booked an air ticket & will be arriving last week of sept. I waited for the call from budget to inform me to pick up the maid & as expected, there wasn't. I was close to my due date in early Oct when I called budget & was told that the maid wasn't able to come as her documents wasn't complete. It was really frustrating that the maid failed to turn up & I wasn't promptly informed. I decided to give them one last try & selected another maid. Bear it in mind, this is my 3rd selection. The maid finally arrived end of Nov, after failing her entry test twice. The maid likes to argue back & has bad attitude. Hence, she only stayed with me for 3.5 mths & I have to send her back to Budget in March 2011. I went thru the whole browsing process for the 4th time and selected a maid with passport. I was told that since the maid has passport, She will be able to come in a month. 2 months have passed & there wasn't any call from Budget. In the end, I took the initiative once again to call them. "sorry, the maid needs another 1-2 months. Pleas come down and select another maid." I went down & asked them to close my file. I've enough of budget. |

When you go to budget maid, do you notice that they have alot of transfer maid sitting outside the agency? I got 3 maids from Budget maid from Hougang in 2009. The first Indo maid pretended to be sick after picking up my kid from school. She simply lie on the kitchen floor and said 'sakit'. Refused to get up for the next one hour and my hubby had to drive back from Tuas to hougang to check on her. Send her back to the agency. Agency got her transferred and less than a year later, was sent back by her new employer. 2nd maid was a transfer maid and was my first transfer maid. Interviewed her with other transfer maids and she was the only one who agreed to work for me, staying in a bigger unit. Cleaning was very good and cooking was so so. Killed the fishes when she washed the tank with bleach. We did not scold her for that, only told her not to use bleach in future. Within one month, she ran away from my place to the agency. Came back as she was told by the agency to work until I get my replacement. Before my replacement came, she ran away another two times. All three times to the agency. She even scolded the agency staff in front of us and threatened to complain them to MOM. I have never seen a maid that is so rude not only to the employers but also to the agency staff. She was also sent back to Indo within half a year after working for her new employer. My 3rd maid from Budget Maid was a drama queen. When we advise her that the plate was not washed properly, with rice still stuck on the plate, she would sit at a corner and started crying and saying that she was 'stupid'. She did this many times, till we gave up. Not easy to counsel such maid who tried to use emotional blackmail on you. She was also sent back to Indo by her new employer before the year was out. From the above experience, I sweared off Budget maid. Even if I have many $100 coupons, I will never get a maid from them. Why let them earn my hard earned money and provide me with lousy and low quality maids. Less heartache too for me too. This is only my view. |

Bad service. After 2 months of termination of our maid, we've yet to receive our refund, repeatedly stating excuses that their boss is not in. Unable to understand what it take to issue a cheque with a signature. Engaged 2 maids from them, but always not given our first choice. After 3 weeks of selection, they will call and give excuses saying that the foreigh agency side has problems and will need to select another. Ended up 8 weeks then our maid arrived in Singapore. Maids quality so-so. Felt that maids were educated that they are able to request for employer change if they are not happy, without the agency's attempt to assist to resolve issues. Following, the maid transfer spree starts and agency earns more money. |
