Today i found my Chinese soup spoon with a large and rounded bowl but handle is still straight flat. Bought 1 Strawberry Shortcake design. This is #8 spoon i've bought for my DD. Hee... RE: chew food i think my DD also swallow food without chewing much... maybe have to wait for molar teeth out. FYI, 4 back molars (chewing teeth) appear at between 10-14 months http://www.babyworld.co.uk/information/baby/teeth/order_appearance_teeth.asp |

re: preference to chewing starchy stuff over fruits/meat I think if we have only a few front teeth we will be the same leh. Fruits and meat need the canines and premolars + molars to properly grind down, since fruit can be crunchy/fibrous (depending on the fruit) and meat even if ground can take some time to break down. Whereas rice/noodles/biscuits can squish or dissolve in the mouth quite easily. But saying that, it's possible to gum down or use front teeth to bite the food into small pieces and then swallow, so it's just a matter of whether your LO can be bothered to do it. Hehehe. Re: unwillingness to chew I think have to start slow with soft chunks like banana pieces and then move up to tougher things. My nephew who was a very easy going bb with solids when he was a year old had become a picky eater becos my SIL kept giving him pureed food as he kept gagging/spitting out solid chunks. Even now at age 3 he refuses to eat his veg unless it is mashed up, esp peas. So now with my boy, I know for a fact that if he can bite and chew a biscuit, he has the ability to chew other things that can disintegrate, and I know that he has managed to chew down a chunk of minced pork before without any problems. Therefore these days when he does the gagging/spitting out routine I scold him, then he will guai guai chew the food. LOL |

missy, haha ... i know who u talking about ? my moiiesha.. sorry leh, moiiesha really very 'cho lo' and buay paiseh one. no matter where i brought her, she will just make herself at home. Go shopping too, she think all the toys are hers .. faint!! Jo's mummy, i cannot imagine too, all the notties playing together .. must be very funny .. but be prepare moiiesha will be quite violent to others.. sometime, i very paiseh to bring her too. she will shout 'ma ma' very loud to get my attention. me too will ask her to do some simple task. 1 of them is put her dirty clothes into her laundry basket before her bath. Very funny thing is, when she dun like me to wipe her saliva, she will take her handkerchief to throw inside her laundry basket. haha |

sometimes i find it very miracle that our LO understands us. K understands fully of wat we are saying.. she will do and react. We are teaching her to take off shoe when come home and put the shoe at the door side. so whenever we are home, she will sit on the floor and takes off shoe and put them nicely. The only word she said are, mum mum(eat), daddy and five. Asked her "do u want milk milk, yao yao, gai gai.. she will knock her head meaning yes...so cute Ask her to give me FIVE..she will clap on your palm and shout FIVE.. OUr little one are growing.. |

OMG!!! All our LO is so CUTE & ADORABLE..all have their "pattern" and super funny when reading the post by every mummies....cant stop laughing ang giggling in the office...my colleagues tot i siao 1.. sun, i think baby Bryan knows how to walk but he just scared/lazy to do so..my advise is to bring him out more often with other babies and show him how other babies is already walking. You can ask him if he wants to join them and come down to walk and run...try show him how u run and chase each other(with ur hubby)..he will find it fun and try to walk then... |

bb Jo also likes to throw his toys and everything he gets hold to..he will purposely throw the things on the floor or turn his toy cars upside down. then his fingers will point and he will say "ah...ah" just like saying "oh ho".. when we try to snatch the remote control from him, he will put his hand at his back to hide it from not letting us to snatch it from him too. when we say no to him, he will look at us responding 'uh uh' like telling us that "what r u talking, i don understand", then he will try to show us he wan to repeat wat he doing(without actually doing it) which we say no... |

bb walking I put my ds in the playpen most of the time. i feel playpen works better than walker cos he's able to pull himself up when he falls and also walk from one end to another, sometimes even unaided. He learn how to balance himself. For walker, he will just run around in it very fast cos he knows he will not fall. Sharing My ds also dont like to share things. Any advise on how to teach him to share? bbs noe what is happening around us just that they can't speak only. |

haha, all our babies so cute and expressive now! My boy always likes to "talk" to other babies when he sees them. A few times, he will shout across from his high chair at restaurant when he sees another baby on high chair. Funny thing is sometimes the other babies will also shout back. Haha the waitresses all laughed, saying these 2 babies can connect by having shouting match :P Sun, My boy also can't walk on his own yet. ACtually I think he can, but he is not confident. He can walk when i just lightly hold his hands. Whenever ask him walk on his own, he will either sit down, hold my hand /leg or try to look for somethings else to hold on to. Oh yes and he likes to throw his bolster and all from his cot onto the mattress below when I accompany him. I won't throw back to him cos I want him to sleep and dont want to encourage him to play. |

gin, nope. i stopped cosleep when he's ard 3 mths. he sleeps in his playpen (i hv 2 playpens. one for sleep one for play) or mattress on the floor at nite. didnt by a toddler bed for him yet cos he will just turn and fall from the bed. Sometimes when i wake up, i find him in the other mattress instead of the one he is sleeping on. kekkee.. u will sleep better also if ur bb sleeps on her own. less disturbance from her.

kiston My bb actually sleep in her cot til e time when we need to adjust the mattress to e lowest level, tats when she ll wake up and cry if she dun see us. i was thinking of buying e bed guard with e bed so i can place her next to me when she doze off, but m also afraid as she tends to 'sit up' in e middle of e nite then fall back again, scare she ll fall beyond e guard then cham liao. she dun like playpen at all, be it for play or sleep.i think she is scared to be left alone la... |

gin, ic. i didnt try the guard b4. but some guard does look abit shallow. regardless or playpen, highchair, etc, i think bbs need to be "trained" so they stay in them. they need to be used to the playpen so that they w stay inside by themselves. Can try putting in for 5-10 mins then slowly increase the duration of them being inside. This method was featured on TV before.. |

Hi Moms, I need some advice here about Shi Sen Powder from Eu Yan Sang. 1. How much do we add into their porridge / food? 2. How many times a day? 3. any reactions from bb? i.e. pooing more often etc? I tried 3 days with Bree so far, i noticed that she pooed about 2 - 3 times a day. first 2 days she even had diahorrea. still she is not really keen on porridge even after i added into her porridge.. my plan kinda backfired.. she ended up wanting more breastmilk. i am going to try her on a few more days and see how it goes.. Thanks in advance |

missycandy my gal is drinking 4 times a day. Same here, she's only having 2 solid meals, lunch and dinner. I was thinking of giving her breakfast to replace one milk feed but timing doesn't seem right for me because i have to fetch her to mom's place before i go to work so quite rush. My mom said milk is still very important for her at this age so didn't change her meal plan yet. But is it ok to have just 2 solid meals? northvirgo wow your gals wake up twice at night to drink... must be tiring wor.. talking about LOs throwing things.. my gal loves to throws things when she's sitting in her high chair, but loves to throw things INTO her playpen haha. She loves to empty items from the drawers too. She's also the "chor lor" type, sometimes behaves like boy. Likes to carry heavy stuff and walk around. When things drop she'll say "oh..." Ask her what does "m" stands for, she replies "mama" so sweet lolz. And she'll wave and say bye bye to others whenever we are in the lifts. It's amazing how much our little ones learn each day and it's so wonderful and heartwarming watching them grow up |

miss83 i don't pat my gal but will sit by her bed, sing songs to her till i fall asleep... while she will roll here and there until she falls asleep. Many times I fell asleep first cos super tired. When i woke up she's already asleep. lolz the whole process may take about half hour. |

miss83, think at this stage it will take a bit longer for them to fall asleep. my boy used to crash during or straight after his bedtime milk, but nowadays he remains awake. however he's quite ok. i just leave him alone and he will sleep on his own without any problems. Putting himself to sleep is something he is used to from his naptimes, so it's just a matter of giving him the idea that bedtime also no different. although initially he kept standing up to see if i was still around, i use the put down method until he stopped getting up, and even after i left the room he fussed for a bit but eventually went to sleep. Only needed to do this for a few days then he ok liao. heh. |

yuki29, Each bb different, but have to bear in mind that eventually milk will be less important in providing nutrients than proper food. They are going to need more calcium, protein, iron, carbo and vits, and all sorts of other trace minerals. If their diet is still dominantly milk by the time they are bet 18-24 months, they risk heading towards nutritional deficiencies. Think now that our LO's are heading to the 14 month mark, time to start slowly transitioning from milk dominant to food dominant diet if not already done so. If it helps to plan your morning mealtimes, my boy has both a milk feed and a meal in the morning - milk at abt 6.30 (after which he crashes back to sleep), and his breakfast at 9am (about an hour or hour and half after he wakes up). When he was in nursery he had breakfast bet 8-8.30am, and also took it without any problems. |

yuki - kirs also same. only lunch n dinner. i need to sit dwn n create meal plan soon. i intend to start her on breakfast... so prolly will cut dwn on the milk intake... lenny - ya the plastic stirrer.. some of them comes with the little scoop... i use that... not sure if a tsp is too much.. have to check the label or with the medical hall staff... sleeping - still takes awhile to put kirs to sleep... but usually by 8+ - 9+, i will switch on the aircon, on the dim light, then prepare her for bed... give her a bottle of milk... sometimes she is still super hyper... so i just let her bounce ard in her playpen... depending on hw tired she is as well... sometimes in less than 10mins she knocks out... sometimes more than an hr ... sometimes i fall asleep before her... lolx... usually when she is drinking her milk, i will switch off the dim light as well.. so its total darkness... i also realised that she cnt be fed solids too close to bed time.. high chance of vomiting... sigh... im also trying to change her milk bottle routine at night... instead of 2, im giving her 1... instead of 180mls each, i give either 210 or 240mls... ok chat later need to go see cases.... |

My boy also drinks milk 4x a day, 3x solid lenny, like missy, i add 1 teaspoon for each feed. But not the teaspoon we use, smaller than that, but bigger than stirrer. He never had any prob with it. Re sleeping, my boy also likes to roll and fall in his cot b4 sleeping. Just need to accompany him with me on mattress below. Lights off with some light music. He can fall asleep anytime from 10mins to an hr. Haha, and yes, sometimes i do fall asleep b4 him :P |

Miss83 I used to carry and pat her to zzz last time but as she gets heavier where got strength? Now @ nite ard 9+ we ll give her a last feed then let her roll and roll til she zzz, alot of times I zzz before her too. she enjoys back scratching too while waiting to fall asleep |

sleeping my boi also turn and turn. Sometimes he will sit up and fall onto his bed again. I have to keep on adjusting him so that he's on the centre of the mattress.. else he will be rolling onto the floor. If i give him a bottle of milk, he w sleep v easily after that. Dim the lite when he's drinking. After his milk, he just turn to his side and sleep. |

miss83.. my boy can lie down n sleep on his own only at my MIL place. at home, no way. My MIL train my boy to sleep on his own - ie, dun carry him when he fuss, if he cry just let him cry and my boy got the message that he cannot bully his Ah Ma. re picky eaters.. i would also like to know how to solve this! my boy will eat only if he feels like it and totally objects meat. been giving him yogurt to boost his protein intake. sigh! Pigpig.. if buy single bed next time can use it for her own room too. save $ =D. my boy's toddler's bed is lower then my bed so he has to climb in (he is a very proficient monkey). re sleeping.. my boy still wants to nurse to sleep when i am around. i dun have the heart to refuse him and see him cry n cry. crossing fingers he will self wean soon. |

They belong to the Mars loh... keke... He say Isaac sleeping on the mattress is safer and scared he will fall off if from bed... so will only let Isaac sleep on the bed when he is older. But I tot most children bed will come with the "fence" to prevent from falling off mah.. No? |

usually, the most i saw have the fence but at the end of the bed there isn't any, so i think ur hb is refering to it. wat i think is, to take come thing to cover the edge then will solve the problem. then put something on the floor for protection just in case. |

I have 1 playpen at my home & 1 babycot cum toddler bed at my mum place, but they're no longer in used, as my boy don't want to sleep. He likes to sleep on mattress on the floor, as he need bigger space to roll (360 degrees), more comfortable for him. When is bedtime at night, he will knock our door to open for him to enter. He will be very happy & laughing walk towards my bed pull our pillows & booster onto his mattress & put them back again. To & Fro till tired then we give him milk & he will sleep by himself when he finished. |

hi mummies, re: sleeping my boy has been sleeping alone in his own room since birth (except for 1st mth with confinement lady).. also coz his cot can't fit into our bedroom.. so we use the baby monitor to listen out for his cries etc.. and leave a "nightlight" (the small ikea paper lamp) on for him throughout the night so the room is not totally dark... |

St.. yes including fish and eggs too. my boy is just not fond of meat. I'm wondering how did 2 carnivore parents have a herbivore kid! he loves the stem of veggies and will stuff veg stalks into his mouth. Teddy.. didn't know peas are high in protein! that is good news for me cos my boy eats them as snacks. for protein, he takes a small container of yogurt everyday. sometimes we feed him tau kua. he is not fond of tau hu or tao huay or tao huay chwee. but i dun feed him much soy products cos long time back read that they are not encouraging for boys =P |

hi mummies, a lovely msg to share w all the awesome mummies here HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY! Before I was a Mom, I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations. Before I was a Mom, I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night. Before I was a Mom, I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. Before I was a Mom, I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom. Before I was a Mom, I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy. Before I was a Mom, I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom... |

hi all mummies, Happy Mother's Day!!!!!!!! Little project for all of you on this special day... 1) list down all the verbal communication that baby gives you, includes words, sounds 2) list down all non-verbal communication that baby makes, physical gestures etc 3) list down any special songs or things that baby does After that, you can add to baby journal, write it as a letter for baby to read when they are 21, or post it here and share with the rest of us! My friend did it on FB and I was inspired to do my own lists. Had a lot of fun doing it. |
