best person to consult will be ur PD or GP... dont feel shy to bombard them with questions.. afterall u are paying them =P if u're afraid u will forget, do write down a list of ur queries n concerns, attach it to the heath booklet so u wont forget to bring it! end of the day, it will be ur baby who be benefit/suffer.. heh heh heh...

Re: fever post vaccination at night

Why not just give medication at bedtime? If u know they had a jab and may get a fever after that, might as well give it before the night. That way dun need to keep waking up fearing for temp spike liao. And feed them loads of water before bed too. Better than needing to wake them up at like 3am and force them to have meds/sponging when they are tired and seriously just wanna sleep? Think if anyone did that to u esp when u are alrdy having a temp that adds to ur tiredness u will also kick and scream. Poor thing.

Re: actual vaccination

Can't yet comment abt switz as just got here but in uk certain vaccines are high on priority list cos of high rate of mortality (death rate) at certain ages, eg pneumococcal meningitis, measles, mumps and rubella especially. Worldwide the diphtheria/tetanus/polio etc what u get in your 5-in-1s these days cause a very high mortality so generally they are compulsory everywhere. Bearing in mind that healthcare is free there in uk, govt will only implement the vaccines that are really neccesarry. What isn't compulsory there are rotavirus and chickenpox, or hep b in infancy. If any of these 3 are indeed compulsory in sg obviously because of the high mortality caused by them in sg (and we all know for a fact hep b is one of them) then its worth taking. Otherwise its a matter of choice depending on your own circumstance.

Missycandy, i know what is the feeling like of facing my kids the whole day. Generally it's enough to drive me crazy, so it's a good thing that i'm working. At least when i go home after work, i'll be so happy to see them and play with them!

Scotts fish oil: I too have given Ethan the original 1. It really smell fish but he take so we just gave him daily in the morning after his shower. Make it a habit, if not they dont take, they will never want to take when they are bigger like my gal.
Once have kids, we all will not have free time, even have also very limited... Movies... I think I worse havent been to any movies for 5 long years

hi mommies..

came in to catch up and breathe while waiting for my washing machine to finish its job.

thank god i survived this week, had four consecutive days for Bree's class.. actual 2 days and make up class 2 days..

my old bones are breaking bringing her there for the whole of 4 days. i was initially worried that she won't be able to take it.. thank god she had fun. :-)

RE: the Rotavirus..
i am shocked to hear about it.. Bree had her done when she is 8th months and 9th months..

haiz.. need to check with PD on the next steps..

i have not set her for pneumococcal yet.. wondering if i should..

ladies.
what's wrong with rota?
my boy took it..

teddy
dr lim also said 15% chance of fever although i decided to take pneumo only..i refused to take together with chicken pox..luckily no fever
but if ur boy got fever above 38, give him panadol and nurofen alternatively every 3 hour..

Gd morning mummies,

Feel the same way abt not having much 'me' time. Actually can steal some such time, but feel guilty leaving jovan with grandma. Especially now that i have gone back to work, cant stop feeling that he is closer to grandma. Haha.. jealousy :D

pneumococcal-
brought him to polyclinic on wed for the jab. claimed $160 through medisave. A month later will go for chn pox. He usually has mild fever after jab. Will try Fireangel's method of giving him fever med at bedtime.

Noticed that jovan sometimes sobs in his sleep. Anyone come across the same thing in your baby?

Besides, bb is with us, anything we can attend him immediately, & if we're tired can immediately go to bed.... last time,i can stay up late night then go to bed, now cannot tahan... ard 11++ already very sleeping .... battery flat after a day of work & taking care bb at night .... battery flat after a day of work & take care of bb... wrinkles & white hair getting more ...sop sop :-(

jennifer,

Neo garden is not bad la.. just that too much MSG.. i am very thirsty after eating their food.

i actually like Four seasons catering..

Regarding Tingkat delivery, i have tried the following:

1. Select
2. Four Seasons Cafe
2. Empire Food
3. Neo Garden
4. Cafe in Action
5. Hilltop Hong Kong Cafe
6. Mom's cooking
7. House of Catering

Now with House of Catering and ending their contract on wed.. sourcing for another to replace. They said no added MSG but i am very thirsty after dinner,, kept waking up in the middle of the night to drink water :-(

The best i tried is Mom's cooking, but the damage is really bad.. for such high price and small portion :-(

Lenny,

Excess salt/sugar/sauces (that themselves contain msg) does the same thing in causing thirst ;p

Jacqueline,

My boy doesn't sob but he does cry/shout. If he doesn't wake up, leave him alone. He won't remember it in the morning.

Jacqueline,

Bree did cried. very badly once while she is sleeping.. That day.. i got mad at her and spanked her butt.. "POCK" cos of her diaper.. not really a hard spank and i ignored her.. kinda let her cried for about 8 mins..

that night she cried in her sleep and i was ridden by guilt.. never spanked her again

the other time was i tried to let her sleep i her own cot using the controlled crying method.. leave her to cry it out for 5 mins then go to her to calm her down. but it ended her crying in her sleep. haiz..

.

nowadays she mumbled in her sleep when she cannot reach for me with her hands or legs.. when i told her mama is here.. she stopped.

if yes.. then try to find activities that are not too stimulating for her in the afternoon.. like.. slowly tone down.. to evening then she will sleep better..

For Bree, last week she had 4 days (Tue- Fri)of class consecutively.. she even clapped and waved her hands in the middle of the Thursday night. It freaked me out.. i thought she was awake and playing by herself.. but when it took a close look at her.. her eyes are closed.. then she went back to snore.. *faint*

BTW.. where does querida stay? i don't have her no.. its ok la.. anyway already placed my orders and asked her to PM me for the final costs before i tt to her.

hi Chocolate..

Regarding JG Classes:

I cannot speak for all babies. I continued simply cos Bree enjoyed herself. apart from curriculum, I like the teachers there.. warm and friendly not only in class but after class, not only in school premises but out o school premises. some centers that i went.. teachers friendly in class then after class .. they kinda ignore.. for me i don't want that to happen to Bree.. she might think.. eh? how come teacher just now so nice then suddenly ignore me? have i done anything wrong?

anyway, its up to individual.. they have a television featuring their class at forum branch at their entrance.. you can go there to view if you like.

I am not paid to sell them and i don't want to sound like a JG fanatic.. so.. hehehe...

I have attached the following link for more information

oh ghee mummies, can't sleep tonight. was frightened awake by a huge cockroach crawling on my arm, literally scared me awake! screamed and woke up both my bb and hb. so guilty i scared bb awake with my scream and made him cry. luckily managed to coax him back to sleep. am so so so terrified of cockroaches. to find one on my arm in the middle of the night is a pure nightmare :-( am so glad hb managed to catch it after a half hr of shifting furniture and spraying shieldtox. now all of us camped in the living room liao, room smells of dettol shieldtox and i'm still terrified to go back in to sleep. step in reminded of the cockroach...sigh, phobia man. can't sleep now, already 3 hrs since it happened but my heart still thumping and like wide awake...aiya! i hate all these insects! hope they dun ever come into my house!!

haha, lol, what an opportunity to come post in the middle of the night. sorry for my ranting...

hmmn going do update on my boy and ask lots of qns haha, mummies share if you can? hee pardon me, can't sleep so just post and post.

update!
my boy's 13 mths liao. can walk very well and is starting to climb everywhere, big headache. caught him trying to climb onto my coffee table, tv console, etc. he can climb onto sofa easily and knows how to come down slowly using his legs first. but still like to try coming down head first everytime on our bed. got to catch him before he does it, else sure big bump on head and big scream + cry! he's babbling alot esp when he's happy and loves it most when i babble back to him in his language haha. no recognisable words that's used consistently yet. still, can totally understand him nowadays. he using alot of pointing, urghh urggh, arghh arghh and of coz, shaking of his head to indicate his wants. and yes yes, crying too, when he can't get his way. trying to teach him that he can't always get what he wants with crying but he doesn't actually understand it yet. so using distraction and comforting most of the time. his cries always very pathetic type, will come with lots of tears and muscus + a very red face. hee actually find his crying quite cute (sadist mummy here) esp when he's hungry and i wasn't in time to feed him, he will just pop down on the floor, put his head btw his stretched out legs and cry face down, very very sad type.

questions mummies :-)

1) how much milk do your little ones take now daily? mine's abt 600-900ml with 2/3 solid meals. too much or too little?

2) how do you wash your little ones' hair and how do you stop them squirming when doing it? carrying mine to wash as he hates water in his eyes but he squirms a lot and if too long, will cry and rejects his bathe.

3) any exp mummies know will the little ones self-wean themselves off latching at night? or how can we help them do so?

4) sahms, do you find your little ones very clingy and sticky to you? mine's refusing to let me do chores, just want me to sit down and play with him or walk with him around the hse. once i settle him on his playmat to let him play on his own, he'll come walking to find me crying. any tips?

finally, just want to say "Thanks" to all the mummies who helped with my query on the dry scalp issue earlier. am using cradle cap shampoo and diligently applying olive oil very day, seeing some improvement :-) Thanks!

sung,

C is drinking about 500ml to 600ml a day (spread over 3 feeds)together with 3 main meals of solids (B, L,D) and 2 snacks of solids (Afternoon Tea plus supper). So total i think through milk intake is less, she eats quite a lot. I think intake wise depends on the child. More milk = less solids, vice versa.

For washing hair, we dont have problems cos she loves being in the tub or using the shower head on her. She is ok with water in her eyes as long as not soap. In fact, she screams unhappily when it is end of her bath time.

Cant advise on self-wean. Not SAHM cos cant comment on (4).

Hopes this helps.

sung, your bb drink alot milk which i think is good as long as he is still eating well i think is perfectly ok cos milk got calcium! N i think the range is ok cos above 1yr bb i think only need 480 to 720ml of milk.

mine nowadays dun like to drink milk only drink around 500ml per day. how?

sung, i use showerhead to wash her hair. She lovessss it! :-) haha especially when water gets into her mouth. she loves to spray and spit out the water. HAHA. probably it's because i've been using spray to bath her since she was like 7 to 8mths old. and she's used to it already.

as for milk, she's taking only about 500 to 600mL a day, with 3 meals, breakfast - cereal, lunch - porridge, dinner - rice/porridge/mee sua

As for selfwean, i think you should be the one giving the signal that it's time to stop, if you want them to stop. else, i doubt they will grow out of it, perhaps when they are much older then they might feel paiseh or something. hehe sorry can't help much on this one.

last (4), though i am not SAHM, i empathise with you cause trishelle does the same thing to me! when i come home, that's it. she is STUCK with me for the whole time till she sleeps. When i eat, i have to carry her sit on my lap. cannot be out of her sight, else she will go HUMBAO! haha! jialat.

Sung,
During the day, he will take 4 feeds @ 180ml + 3 solid meals, night(9pm, 1-2am & 5-6am) @ 210ml.
Afternoon, we'll feed him cheese or some fruits - kiwi, papaya, apple & strawberry. He loves kiwi very much.

Next Fri, Ryker will be having Pnuemococcas, will consult PD whether can start giving him cod liver oil.

Sung,
Few weeks back me too, cockroach crawling on neck & than my arm, at 1st I felt itchy at my neck and just fling my hand on my neck than its get to itch on my arm. We slept with a small lamp on so when I get up I saw a black thing drop on my bed and my 1st action is to use my cushion to press it down. I call out to my hubby who sleeping on the mattress on the floor as my gal is sleeping with me, lucky he heard me and quickly help me to kill the insect, I was telling him wahlou must go buy the insect prison to put in our room liao. Lucky it didnt go into my gal ears or mouth coz sometime she sleep, she tend to half opened her mouth.
