Prosper So kind of you and MIL to prepare porridge but I think I will let my Eames eat first before going, he sure cannot tahan hunger. But I will still let him try some of your porridge BTW, I told my colleague just now that my Eames doesn't point at things, she immediately told me it could be a sign of autism!!! Wah! scare the hell out of me. Then I quickly sign up a trial class for him at Gymboree this Sun, if the class is good, I will sign a semester class for him. Anyone interested in the trial can call Gymboree at Tanglin mall. I signed up for the 11.20am class this Sun for $40, their package is $399 for 12 lessons. I compared with Kindermusik and Little Gym, its pricing is the most competitive. |

pampers: cold storage has slightly better offer. 2 packs of 60pc for $45 plus. Ask the cashier to scan for discount as some outlets do not display the sale pricing on the shelves. Discount is valid at all outlets though. but get from carrefour or giant if you want the cardboard box to store toys. |

Can i give bread with cheese to her for breadfast? I gave her some of mine one morning and she ate. not sure is it cos it is something new to her or she is sick of her porridge... |

misscandy ask her to throw in free local posting lah.. so far touch wood, normal posting nvr failed. i find that she should throw in or give more perks. otherwise i think mummies will rather pay S$2 more than to give you the trouble to meet up. the hassle. then in this way, the organiser will have more work to get more participants. |

i dun find meeting up with other mummies a hassle leh.. unless they find it a hassle to meet up with me la.. =P cn see the babies.. then chit chat a bit... anyway i have already asked her abt postage. will update again. as an organiser, its nvr easy. i dont mind so i org. thank u for feeling that its a hassle for me. appreciate it. i jus share what i can find online.. just like all the good deals that pseed shares as well... sometimes its abt going the extra mile... |

Pseed.. the store owner is doing a good job promoting its products :D Reverie.. my PD said can feed sandwiches. She recommanded feeding cream cheese sandwich. But do check with your PD if your baby can take that. For my boy we are having a problem with his protein intake (too little) so cream cheese was one of the things my PD suggested. my boy also "violent" and scream/yell when he does not get what he wants. i do not see it as a problem but a part of growing. we need to step in and teach them what is acceptable and what is not. so far i not very successful la. anyone with tips how to discipline pls share =) |

Hi mummies, Sorry to interupt. I am from June 09 mummies and I'm planning for my 2nd daughter's 1st birthday. Interested in taking up birthday party packages for party entertainment. Eg. Magician/Ventriloquist/balloon sculpturing. Anyone had engaged anyone with good reviews? Here are some I shortlisted. I've never engaged anyone before. So would like feedback & reviews from mummies who had took them before recently. Feel free to drop me a PM. Thanks in advance. http://www.creamofmaestro.com/ http://www.partyplanner.sg/birthday_party.php http://www.kidsparty.com.sg/prices.php http://www.themagicavenue.com/parties.html |

Hi reverie island, Re: refusing food. Bree had refused solids since 6mths till she is 12mths old.. the past 2 weeks, she ate porridge.. but these 2 days.. she is rejecting them again.. haiz.. Riverie_island & Donroxx Re: Behaviour problems. this is a phase that they will pass. Bree used to be like this. if the thing that she wants is not breakable and even if it breaks its ok with me.. i will give it to her. i don't want to hinder her in exploring. But if those that are dangerous and its precious to me or hubby.. we will tell her " I cannot give it to you, it belongs to daddy or mommy". Things that are not yours.. you cannot touch it ok? then i will do the "no" sign. she does imitate..sometimes she will point to the "prohibited" object and do the "no" hand sign There are times that she will scream and yell for it.. i will tell her the same thing then carry and pat her. i told her i am sorry you can't have that but I love u.. If she won't stop.. i bring her away from the "temptation" and then give her a toy instead. It works for Bree.. maybe can try? |

Don.. For protein, think u feed him more meat too together with the cheese..my girl is light PD suggests more protein..beef is good if he takes, if not chicken and pork.. fish is least.. For chicken parts, chicken breast is more in protein, for thigh is iron.. But I still buy thigh cos that part more yummy too got more fats and taste better? hehe |

For discipline wise.. FIRM for the 'no' items, regardless what tantrums showing. Explain why. Distraction by giving something to tempt her away. Summarise Lenny's. But in addition, I do smack her palm for dangerous attempts like playing with switch etc, turning on the fan herself. |

Regarding discipining...i think it's good to start now. For me, if i dun allow HY to take certain things, i'll tell him that he's not supposed to take it and i'll ask him for it. Usually he'll give it to me. Sometimes, he'll pick up a fuss but other times he'll not. |

Lenny.. thanks for the tip! my boy likes to go for electrical plugs and tries to remove the "anti-baby" plug. even when i scream at him, he will not stop. we would carry him to his toys but he would just get up and aim for prohibited items again. sigh! Prosper.. thanks for providing lunch and cookies for the babies =) I will be late, arriving around 1pm has we have a previous appointment. Meebaby.. he is a small eater la, will eat 2 bites then he is done. we end up packing different types of sandwiches and let him eat several times throughout the day. he does take chicken, beef, pork, tofu, yogurt, cheese, veg n fruits but all in 2-3bites. so mummy ends up being the rubbish bin n grow fat. my boy also like to play with the fan, except he likes to switch off the fan. in fact he goes around the house to switch off stuff! if it is off, he will not touch it. I'm surprised he know which side is on and off. |

Dear all The following is what i replied to the Gino cutter organiser. Hi $18.90 includes free local posting right? In that case, i might as well order from you. Paying $2 more for each set to save the hassle for her and to get it delivered to me. I need 3 to 3 different locations. From a business point of view, offering $17 for 20 and above and no delivery / posting included for everyone is not a good deal. It is just a compromise of delivery and hassle from you and the $2 save for us which i don’t think i want to trouble Candace and myself. Please email me your account and i will transfer the money to you together with the 3 sets to 3 locations. Thx. Misscandy I will withdraw fr the above bp as i dont wish to trouble you. You guys might still want to go ahead. thx. Hi Lenny & donroxx thx. i will try. reg the cream cheese, what brand any idea? pd did said to give her cheese as her milk intake was below 400ml daily now getting better but still not enough. oh my ger is going shichida on sun early mrng. v worried if she can sit throughout the class... sigh |

Donroxx.. Its only human nature to want things that are prohibited. so.. its alright.. Just explain to him that its dangerous.. although he might not know what dangerous means but at least we reason with our babies instead of being authoritative and say no.. they will understand in time to come.. for me.. i just keep blabbering to Bree.. i don't bother if she understand the words that i use or not.. i just kept going.. think i am going nuts facing her alone at home.. that's why.. hahaha |

Don.. Actually if he eat many times throughout the day then not considered small eater.. cos the portion of food is spread out in different intervals already.. in fact its good in a way cos its not "throwing down a stone weight" in the tummy.. my girl eats in an interval of abt 3hours each time.. inclusive of milk.. I'm so afraid to turn the knob of the fan which is sitting on the floor, becos why they learn things from us at such a rocket rate! so if i need it on and off I do it from the switch that is beyond her reach.. if not once she learns to turn the knob my fan can go bust sooner or later..hah lol yours is a boy.. more technical.. looking at the way he plays with the switch.. who knows next time, can help to dismantle and repair electrical appliances.. one handy man at home ;D |

Riverie, My gal sleeps on my bed.. i admit.. i cannot bear to boot her out cos i love the way she hugs me at night.. hubby is traveling so much so we only have each other. She pretty much need me to fall asleep with. after she unlatch.. she will do all the funny stunts on my bed.. tried to stand up. balance herself then raise her hand high then clap.. she laugh at her herself if she falls. crawl around hiding her toys under my pillow, bolster and my comforter.. the find them one by one.. i do read to her . she will pick the book that she wants then pass to me.. but before i complete a book.. she gave me another and another.. then she hugs me, "kiss" me and sayang me with her forehead touching mine, pat my cheeks etc... sort of redeeming herself for terrorizing me the whole day. this goes on around 30mins.. sometimes an hour.. before she just Plonk and dozes off.. 20 mins after she dozes off.. i sneaked out to have my dinner (tingkat delivery), do laundry, surf internet, read a book and watch tv then wait for hubby to knock off to chat with him on MSN.. if the connection is good from the South China Sea subject to weather conditions i will be on stand by for her feeding.. if without disturbances, her timing is pretty standard. i do have a part time cleaner who comes once a week to help me on the major household chores like vacuum, mop, wash my bathrooms etc.. but she is very slow.. always cannot make it in time to iron my clothes.. got to iron myself when Bree is asleep |

Riverie.. forgot to tell you.. i hang my baby monitor around my neck if i am out of my room.. then rush to her if i hear the slightest cry.. if i dun get there in time to pacify her.. That's it... her eyes will open wide and she will think that its a morning/ afternoon nap then she will start to play. which means she won;t sleep till a few hours later *faint* |

Riverie & Donroxx, Thanks for your compliments.. i am trying my best to keep sanity by the end of everyday. Sunshine bb, I think Bryan doesn't know how to control his strength yet.. initial stage.. Bree came on to me too hard and we both knocked each other as well.. Just teach him to be gentle.. i know he will.. alternatively,.. on the positive note.. you know that you son is doing well else he will not be so strong ya? Re: Head Banging.. There is an article that i cam across.. i have attached the link.. do read it.. http://www.babycenter.com/0_head-banging_11554.bc Why does my toddler purposely bang his head? Head banging is surprisingly common. Up to 20 percent of babies and toddlers bang their head on purpose, although boys are three times more likely to do it than girls. Head banging often starts in the second half of the first year and peaks between 18 and 24 months of age. Your child's head banging habit may last for several months, or even years, though most children outgrow it by age 3. Possible reasons your toddler may bang his head: • Self-comfort. As strange as it may sound, most toddlers who indulge in this behavior do it to relax. They bang their head rhythmically as they're falling asleep, when they wake up in the middle of the night, or even while they're sleeping. Some rock on all fours as well. Developmental experts believe that the rhythmic motion, like rocking in a chair, may help your toddler soothe himself. • Pain relief. Your toddler may also bang his head if he's in pain — from teething or an ear infection, for example. Head banging seems to help kids feel better, perhaps by distracting them from the discomfort in their mouth or ear. • Frustration. If your toddler bangs his head during temper tantrums, he's probably trying to vent some strong emotions. He hasn't yet learned to express his feelings adequately through words, so he's using physical actions. And again, he may be comforting himself during this very stressful event. • A need for attention. Ongoing head banging may also be a way for your toddler to get attention. Understandably, you may tend to become solicitous when you see your child doing something that appears self-destructive. And since he likes it when you fuss over his behavior, he may continue the head banging in order to get the attention he wants. • A developmental problem. Head banging can be associated with autism and other developmental disorders — but in most of these cases, it's just one of many behavioral red flags. Rarely does head banging alone signal a serious problem. What can I do about it? Give your toddler your attention — but not when he's banging. Make sure your child gets plenty of positive attention from you when he's not banging his head. If he still bangs his head to get your attention, though, try not to make a big deal about it, or you may reinforce the behavior. Even if you can't completely disregard the behavior, don't scold or punish him for it. He's too young to understand the situation, and your disapproval may only make matters worse. Protect your child from injury. Check all the screws and bolts on your toddler's crib once a month or more to make sure the rocking isn't loosening anything. You can also put rubber casters on the crib legs and hang a soft fabric or quilt between the crib and the wall to reduce noise and to minimize wear and tear on the walls and floor. Don't put pillows or blankets in his crib to soften his surroundings, because these are a suffocation hazard. If you want to use bumpers on your toddler's crib to soften his blows, make sure that they're thin, firm (not puffy), and securely tied to the crib railings, so your toddler can't get his head between the bumper and the railing. Try not to worry. Your toddler may get a bruise or two, but don't worry — head banging is usually a "self-regulating" behavior. This means your child is unlikely to hit his head hard enough to seriously injure himself. He knows his threshold for pain and will pull back on the throttle a bit if the banging hurts. Help foster your child's love of rhythm in other ways. Your child clearly likes a good steady beat, so help him find other outlets for his love of rhythm. Experts often recommend dancing, marching, and drumming or clapping to music together. You might also try putting a metronome in your child's room to give him the comfort of a steady rhythm. Make sure he gets lots of physical exercise during the day, too, to help him burn off some of the nervous energy that may feed his head banging. Start a soothing bedtime routine. If your child is banging his head as a way of "coming down" from his busy day, try setting up a relaxing routine. A warm bath, a calm rock on your lap, and a quiet story or song may help. You may want to spend a few minutes before bed rubbing his back or stroking his forehead. Soft music in his bedroom can be soothing, too. Consult a doctor if your child's behavior becomes worrisome. If your child bangs his head a lot during the day or continues to bang his head even though he's hurting himself, you may have cause for concern. Though it's uncommon, head banging can be associated with autism and other developmental disorders, which sometimes become apparent during the toddler and preschool years. Autistic children generally don't relate well to people. They often aren't interested in physical contact with their parents and seem to look through people rather than at them. If you notice that your child is losing physical abilities, language, or other skills he's acquired; if he's becoming increasingly withdrawn; or if he's consistently delayed in achieving common developmental milestones, check with his doctor. |

Riverie & Mommies I read that at this stage, babies do not know that they are an individual by themselves. when they see themselves in the mirror, they don't know that its their reflection and thought its a "little friend" looking back at them. Some babies may realize it earlier. as they do not know that they are an individual, plus at this stage, they are more aware of their surroundings.. Being so little in size where everything is huge to them.. i can understand why they cry for us if we are out of sight. Separation anxiety actually peaks when bb reach 10 mths old and its a phase that will go off as soon as 18mths and as late as 24mths. For some babies.. it may be longer. To put ourselves in their shoes.. imagine us in a foreign country where we do not know their language, culture and their place. we will feel lost and insecure.. same goes for our babies. Bree is not an easy baby to take care.. trust me.. she does throw tantrums too, kick her legs cry and scream then drama starts... bend down to cry.. cover her ears, then mouth, with her hands. like she is so pityful if anyone else goes near her except for me.. she scratches them with her nails.. her dad's neck, eyes, nose and cheeks.. are left with scars.. if anyone who doesn't know.. they will think that i am the one who scratches him during compromising positions. How could anyone believe that my baby, such a sweet, innocent young thing could do it?.. Must call the CSI to give me justice.. muahahah she just scratched my mum's lower lips and my mom bleed.. oh.. i do cut her nails!! I know where frustration comes from .. i have been there and still there sometimes. i had learned to calm myself down , take a few deep breadth first before i go to her. Babies do sense when we are frustrated and it makes them feel and react worse.. cos when they are frustrated or insecure.. we are their pillar of support.. How would we feel and react if our pillar of support is not strong and stable enough for us to hang on? i think we would have reacted the same as well. Re: Sleep.. I don;t have much time to sleep.. when i accompany her to sleep at night.. i will nap an hour or two.. then wake up to eat dinner and do my chores..after chatting with hubby for a while.. i will go back to sleep with her. Got panda eyes.. Re: High Chair.. I bought the Chicco Polly 2 high chair.. and Bree prefers to eat while sitting on a sofa or the floor. *faint* |
